Screams in the storm part 4

Rufus walked back to the others.

"Are you guys alright?" Rufus asked them.

"Yeah, but what are we gonna do now," Doreen said and looked at the masses of zealots.

Many of the fanatics yelled and screamed and some even had weak wills in following the preacher and the demon. The fanatic militiamen started to forcibly round up people to be sacrificed to create more night screamer demons.

"Do not be afraid, for your sacrifice will be rewarded by Cyrus. His messenger ensures it for it is here witnessing your faith," the maniac preacher yelled.

The militiamen dragged children from their parents for the more pain and misery the death caused, the stronger the winds of pandora. More sassan were burned and more night screamers were born, but all were smaller than the one that was communicating with the mad cult leader.

"We possibly cannot win against them," Amala said.

The original night screamer then finally took flight itself. It quickly landed in front of Rufus and the others. It was by far stronger than either Vergal or Caval, the previous demons they had faced. Through centuries of manipulation, stiffening the winds of pandora had made this demon into a cunning opponent and powerful.

Rufus and his friends stepped back, afraid of the massive demon in front of them. But then, something unexpected happened. A voice spoke to them, deep inside their minds.

"Serve the creator. Serve the true ruler of this heaven. For he who has been forgotten, the father and creator shall return once more."

The demon was communicating with them telepathically.

Rufus and his friends were stunned by the voice in their heads. They knew that this demon was not to be trusted.

"Do not listen to the demon. Its words are poisonous," Satifa said to the others.

"Who is this creator?" Suomi asked the demon.

"Do not communicate with it?" Satifa yelled.

"The creator is the one who created me. He was forgotten and cast aside, but now he shall return to reclaim his heaven," the demon replied.

"What does the creator want?" Suomi kept asking.

Suomi was unable to quell her curiosity.

"Because those who serve the creator shall be rewarded with life without suffering, without affliction, without torment. A world without births."

The demon's words were tempting for Suomi, as she was just a mortal without divinity in her body, but Rufus and his friends were able to resist it. Joan then quickly struck lightly Suomi at the back of her head

The demon let out a chilling scream that immobilized them for a moment. The demon went to kill Rufus, by stabbing him with the end of his staff but was quickly saved when Edward, with his longsword, blocked the blow.

Pema rushed ahead, high kicked the demon into its oversized head staggering it for a moment.

"RUFUS! DO IT!" Edward yelled.

Rufus created a divine sphere and threw it at the demon. Edward and Pema gave space as the demon looked at the hurdling sphere of destruction. It casually grabbed it with its hand and destroyed it, like a bubble.

The demon was immensely powerful.

The night screamer then screamed with dark winds coming from its mouth. The winds felt like knives and needles flew at them. Rufus guarded himself with his divine wings but they were getting ripped apart.

Gadaric quickly ran behind the demon without it noticing him. He got close to it and snapped his fingers next to its head, blasting it with a massive blast of sound.

Any regular human or a person blessed with divinity would have died, but not this demon. It grabbed Gadaric by his leg and slammed him down hard. He lifted him up and look at it, preparing to unleash the deadly winds from its scream once more from point-blank range.

Gadaric was saved when a puppet came with two twin blades with a suicidal charge slashing at the beak of the night screamer. Another puppet shot two shots from two muskets at the demon's head piercing it, but not killing it.

Enraged, the demon yelled so loudly and released immense power pandora wind's from its yell that it pushed everyone back. Its wound on its head healed and closed quickly, like a cracked vace, turning back the time of its destruction.

"We can't defeat it....." Doreen said, as the demon's powers only grew. Many of the fanatics had been sacrificed and even more night screamers were born. The winds of pandora grew larger.

Slowly the sandstorm started to subside as the city of secrets was forced to come forth. The night screamer yelled and started to take flight in an attempt to attack the city.

The air was thick with the screeches of the night screamers as they flew recklessly toward the walls. Their wings beat frantically, their eyes glinting with a mad hunger as they hurled themselves toward the city of secret's walls. At least twenty of them, their twisted forms twisting and turning through the air with reckless abandon.

Rufus and the others watched in horror as the demons closed in. But then, just as it seemed that all was lost, something miraculous happened. From the skies above, a group of armored warriors descended through the clouds.

Up above, a colossal flying fortress appeared in the sky. It was like nothing Rufus had ever seen before. It was bigger and larger than the iron feather. Many times bigger. For this vessel was no ordinary, for it was a vessel of a god.

Rufus and his companions watched in awe as the warriors from the sky grounded the night screamers, jumping from one demon to another, plunging spears into their backs.
