Angeline's Courtship Rule

JACOB started his regular office working hours, but despite the many legal documents he needed to review, he always had in mind his family's situation at home. He would have been occupied with his work in the past, but that all changed when his vacation ended. And worst, when he would be in the conference room, his cellphone was always in front of him and glancing at it even when he was busy. He was aware that his colleagues eyed him now and then.

Having a family of his own just changed him completely. He was more anxious lately about the risk of leaving them. It scared him.  So, when his phone rang, it lit up his face when he saw that Angeline was calling on the screen.

He cleared his throat, "Hello, my wife," his voice sounded jovial. "What's up? Your voice sounds weird. Were you crying?"
