Ch. 15 Tryouts and Ideas

Jay is in the vacuum of space. But there's a ton of debris around him and the only light from a red sun in the far distance.

'I was wondering why the Flaxan's planet was red. But I'm still surprised to find it being a combination between their red sun and chemicals in their air' Jay says in his head to himself.

He had gotten used to talking with himself over the course of his time in this dimension. It is where he spent the majority of his life after all.

Currently Jay is having his nanites gather data and samples of the various materials now brought to light. Literally from beneath the planets surface.

Jay was surprised, or not surprised, to find new materials that used to be close to the planets core. The Flaxans didn't mine it in fear of exploding their planet, but Jay solved that problem for them so he now has plenty of that material to use. Now the only problem is acquiring it. But he just made a giant device to move around and sift through the remnants of the planet and extract the important materials.

He offered to help Suzu and they would work together to upgrade her suit, but she is stubborn and denied that.

But Jay was able to convince her to take a break for some time together in the bedroom.

He could barely hold himself back. Over 100 years of abstaining from anything sexual. He was so pent up it wasn't funny. Jay himself was surprised he didn't just attack Suzu the moment he saw her. And he nearly did.

But through sheer determination he was able to hold off for two days. But that was it.

After the funeral he took Suzu back to her house and they went to the basement lab for her to finish her work. But he couldn't hold back. The news and memes could only distract him so much.

Suzu was so hot and just sitting there working so hard. Her voice tickled his ears as she spoke. It was much better than the high frequency waves that tortured them for decades.

Jay didn't want to force Suzu, but was happily surprised when she was the one to start it.

Sure it was weird having sex after a funeral. But it was sexy. Mainly because Suzu was in her dress with a lab coat over it. Definitely something he needed to see. That and her naked. Which he saw after the first two hours.

Once Jay started he couldn't stop. And he was holding back as much as he could in fear of breaking her. That, and he was trying not to think of how his mom and dad have sex. Because wouldn't Nolan have the same problem?

Jay mastered his strength. But it took everything he had not to just indulge himself completely in Suzu. But it wasn't like he was the only one, she also had lots of energy. But she was practically crazy after the third or fourth hour.

They went at it all night long. And when Suzu woke up she kicked Jay out. Mainly because she couldn't move properly to work for the day, but also because of embarrassment. Embarrassment of varying degrees on on almost every level.

Jay himself barely remembered it. Bits and pieces come to mind. But not entire hours worth.

'Maybe I should make my own lab? And have it act second to a 'sex dungeon' sort of thing. Who knew science was so sexy' Jay says as he moves through space with his hands behind his back. His suit glowing a slight blue.

He wonders why his dad doesn't use tech to enhance his strength even further. Sure they're already stupid strong. But after getting your ass whooped wouldnt you want to make sure it never happened again?

That's the reason Jay designed his suit to not inhibit his strength, speed, or flexibility. But to enhance them.

Jay used his nanites to discreetly take samples from the Guardian's corpses. Even Darkwing.

He wanted to start studying how people can use their powers. This also includes him hacking various government and private documents that already involved this.

He admits that Cecil and Robot are both very thorough and paranoid people. But he was already in their servers looking for the person that leaked his and Suzu's info so what harm would looking around do?

Lots. That's what.

But Jay just left most of it where it is. Not like any of it would hurt him in the end. His own strength nulled most threats and his suit nulled the rest.

Except for a few psychic issues but he doesn't exactly know how to go around that problem…. for now. He can always try and fix it later.

He looks around and admires the view. He wonders why his dad didn't reprimand him more. Not even a slap on the wrist.

Jay could have just made the Flaxans bend their knee to him instead of killing them and destroy their planet. He could also have just talked with them. They were trying to expand to a similar planet in a different dimension so that they could expand their territory and gain resources.

They were overpopulated on this giant planet and had sucked the resources nearly dry which allowed the planet's red hue to become so excessive and prominent. Basically, it's what will happen with Earth, but that's way in the future.

Jay wonders what he's going to do for the rest of the day. He has to go to work soon, OR he could try and avoid that whole situation and got to the Guardians tryouts.

Yeah. That's sounds more fun than being bombarded by questions.

——————

Jay walks behind Mark and Robot in front of a bunch of supposed heroes. But Jay is rather disappointed in the turnout for this. None of them really shout 'Guardian material' except for Atom Eve, Monster Girl, Robot, Mark, and himself. The others are basically B-rate heroes.

It's a shame neither Mark or himself will be joining the Guardians of the Globe. And there's no way Omni-Man will join them either.

"Is the -Demi-God?" Mark asks as he scans the people lined up. "Oho! And Shrapnel!"

Robot is holding a datapad with a list of names on it among other sources of information. "And Burly, Pangea, Bugeye…. It's the crowning achievement in any crusaders career to be selected for the new Guardians of the Globe" Robot puts his arms behind his back and faces both Invincible and Eternal. "Which makes me wonder why you won't try out"

Mark scratches the back of his head and looks to the side. "I know~. I talked it over with my dad. He wants to train me himself. Plus, my mom would kill me if I missed any more school" Mark holds his hands up like the matter is out of his hands.

"Then why are you here?" Robot asks Invincible.

"Are you kidding?! Like I'd miss this!" He motions towards the giant crowd of people. He leans to the side and points. "Oh my god, there's Fight Force. Why'd they even come here?"

Robot turns and looks at the team of heroes and then turns back to Mark. "Despite your name. I believe you underestimate yourself Invincible"

"I'll still be around helping" Mark tries to placate the machine. "So when does this thing get started?" He changes the subject.

——————

Jay goes to the right side of the glass window overlooking the combat room where the fights will be taking place. He has his arms folded across his chest and is in a considerably bad mood.

Most of the heroes are looking at him and whispering to eachother for a while. It's not everyday a hero gets his secret identity leaked. Especially not big heroes like himself.

And the fact ALL his previous girlfriends are jumping at the chance to shout they once dated Jayden Grayson doesn't help. Even the ones that ghosted him in the past spoke up. Some tried to besmirch and slander him and his work. But they lost traction since their stories were unfounded and proven wrong. But some stuck. He didn't care, but a few tried attacking Suzu, which he especially didn't appreciate.

Jay was surprised by the number of them. It was over 50, that's for sure. He just hopes they wouldn't do anything too bad.

"Thank you all for coming here today" Robots voice brings Jay out of his thoughts but he doesn't turn around. "The Guardians of the Globe were more than a group of heroes. They were icons. Those of you who pass our trials will be among the elite. The best of the best. Needless to say, not all of you will be up to the challenge" Robot pauses to let people digest what he has said so far before continuing "Those of you that are, will succeed not just by the uniqueness of your abilities. But by the uniqueness of your tactics. Your adaptability. The agility of your minds. And perhaps most importantly…"

Robot looks among the people. "…. the strength of your character and spirit. THAT is what truly makes a hero"

Jay wants to smash his head though the glass rather than listen to more of Robots speech. He knows that Robot will be biased based off of the people that are here. He wouldn't be surprised if the entirety of Teen Team makes the cut. Jay doesn't care, but it's obvious Robot has already selected a few people among the crowd. Maybe a slot or two open for exceptional talents.

Robot looks among the crowd and takes his datapad from behind him and looks down at it. "Let us get started right away then"

——————

Atom Eve walks into the giant combat room.

And waiting for her is a guy standing at 12 feet tall without a shirt on. And his muscles look like they're filled with steroids.

The roid-man grins at Eve and flexes his pecs one at a time and then winks at her.

Eve just narrows her eyes. She really doesn't want to put up with this shit today of all days.

"Raaaaaaaaaagghhhhhh!" The guy runs at Eve and brings his hands above his head. Once he gets near Eve he brings his hands down to clobber her into the ground.

But Eve effortlessly evades, not even needing her powers.

The guy turns and charges at her again and throws his fists wildly at her. He doesn't have a plan or strategy. He's just trying to overpower her with his strength alone.

But Eve simply dodges the punches. She moves backwards, to the side, or even ducks them. She simply looks untouchable with the way the fight is going.

Eve finds an opening, and it's not hard considering this guy's brain is probably all muscle too. She covers her hands in energy.

Once the guy punches with his right hand again she simply taps his hand and the energy from her hand goes to his and forces it backwards. This knocks him off balance.

Eve then sends the enrgy in her other hand to the guy's feet and it explodes, knocking him up into the air.

Before he can do a bellyflop onto the floor Eve coats her entire fist and forearm in energy and punches him square in the face.

He goes flying through the air and lands with a heavy thud as his face smears on the ground until he comes to a stop.

Eve turns around after punching the guy and goes to exit the room.

The roid guy doesn't so much as twitch.

Jay nods. He believes that Eve is probably the strongest one here. Even if she were to fight Mark she would probably win. Sure Mark is strong. But Eve is strong and smart. Mark also doesn't have full control over his powers and is like a newborn trying to play catch-up. But that doesn't mean Mark would go down easily without a fight.

Some medical staff goes into the fighting room and try to get the big guy on a stretcher. Even with 4 of them they struggle.

Mark and Rex have their arms folded across their chest as they look down at the fight.

"Ouch" Mark comments. "What's up with her?" He asks Rex.

Rex Splode shrugs his shoulder. "No idea!" He quickly responds in a worried tone and avoids eye contact.

After 5 minutes they take the unconscious roid guy out and the next pair to fight enter the room.

There is a girl with long brown hair and glasses standing across from a gorilla man.

Jay looks at the girl. This is also another one that he is interested in. He doesn't care about her. Only how her powers work. Her name is Shrinking Rae and as implied, she can shrink down to that of an ant or maybe even smaller. Jay wants to know if her strength also shrinks with her, or if she can still punch as strong as she could at her normal size. And then there's the question of how far can shrink down. And while she can't grow bigger, could she potentially do so in the future?

Jay's mind tries to comprehend the physics behind her powers and calculates the various force of her punches. And if she does retain her strength….. with a smaller mass she would be able to maneuver in various ways that normal people couldn't. She could jump and run like she was on the moon. And if she were to punch something with the fist of an ant, the punch could probably break bones when Rae at her normal size could only bruise.

Some truly unique power that could potentially be worth Jay's time to analyze.

Rae adjusts her glasses and is surprised when her opponent runs at her. She gets into a fighting stance with her hands open and her left foot forward.

Gorilla-Man does a somersault on the ground and then stand up as he pounds his chest and roars.

The man swings at Rae with his right hand. But she just shrinks down to the size of a child. Gorilla-Man then brings his left fist down at her new size. However, Rae just shrinks down again and avoids it.

Gorilla-Man then swings three more time but only hits the air as Shrinking Rae runs around at the size of a small doll.

Gorilla-Man lost track of her but decides to punch the ground repeatedly in hopes of hitting her small body.

Shrinking Rae is nowhere near where the Gorilla fists are landing. She is to his left and reverts back to her original size. She whistles you get her opponents attention and waves once Gorilla-Man looks over at her and stops punching the ground.

Gorilla-Man jumps at her and throws a haymaker. But after his fist blocked his vision of her she stinks down to an ants size and climbs on his back. The guy doesn't even know where she is or where she could be as he looks left and right.

He looks up at the viewing windows and shrugs before continuing to look for the girl. He then sneezes 3 times uncontrollably and begins smacking the side of his head. Then he puts his hands over his ears and holds his head until he covers his mouth and his eyes go wide.

Gorilla-Man retches once before holding his hands beneath his mouth and he vomits a lot of green liquid that coats his hands and jaw. The vomit also pools beneath him.

He's conscious for a few more second before he collapses face first into the puddle of vomit. It splashed onto his arms, chest, and the fur that covers most of his body.

Shrinking Rae exits his ear and jumps away from the vomit. She does a somersault in the air and grows back to her original size. As she finishes growing she lands on the ground and jumps up to celebrate her victory.

She throws her hands above her head and has a large smile on her face. "Oh yeah~"

——————

Jay wonders what she did inside of Gorilla-Man's head. He saw her enter his right ear and she exited his left. But yet she wasn't covered in any liquid at all. And Jay is fairly certain the ears aren't connect to each other like a tunnel through a persons skull. If Rae wanted to kill Gorilla-Man she could have just grown once she was inside of his head…. Or would she have also gotten injured?

He didn't see enough of her fighting style to see if she retains her strength at smaller sizes. And it seems she doesn't rely on strength and would prefer to dodge and avoid head on fights. But maybe that was because the strength difference was so great this fight. Jay decides to look into Shrinking Rae after this whole event is over.

——————

After Gorilla-Man and his mess are cleaned up the next round of fighters get ready.

Black Samson and Throwbolt enter the room and square off.

Jay remembers Black Samson was with the original Guardians of the Globe but retired after he lost his powers. Jay wonders why the old man showed. Suzu would have been a much better option than him.

Throwbolt is a woman with blond hair that is a short backswept pixie cut style. Her superheroine suit is sleeveless but she has gloves that cover her wrists.

——————

This is yet another power that is on Jay's radar. How can it not be? It's Electrokinesis, it is the ability to create and manipulate electricity or lightning that can be from a natural source or created through other means. And Jay wants to know which case it is for Throwbolt. He knows a little but not much. He knows that she has an internal battery but not how much charge she could hold. Can it increase? How much is her max charge? Can she surprise her max charge? Can she manipulate the electricity in her body after it leaves her body? And if so, what is the maximum distance? And if not, why? So many questions about its versatility as well.

Jay couldn't care less about the woman, in the aspect of her as a hero. He's just interested in her powers.

——————

Throwbolt brings her elbows to her sides and brings her fists up into balls. "Ahhh!" She shouts as her entire body begins glowing yellow.

Jay leans closer to the glass as he observes her. His suit analyzing her. Apparently she becomes electricity. Or at least part electricity. He can't differentiate if she has an internal battery or not. But he can tell that her charge is much higher than he anticipated.

Black Samson jumps into the air as a lightning bolt strikes the ground where he was standing.

But instead of falling back to the ground, his gloves, boots, and jet pack / chest piece have given him maneuverability in the air. He begins flying around the room as Throwbolt litteraly begins throwing lightning bolts.

Jay is disappointed for many reasons.

The first is Black Samsons suit. It's literally a dumbed down version of Suzu's suit. It's only the chest piece, gloves, and boots. And the only other thing the guy is wearing is a black undersuit. Jay doesn't care what experience this guy has, Suzu would be a much better fit.

But Jay made sure Suzy would miss this chance. Even if it made her a little sad. He didn't want to risk her joining the new Guardians of the Globe when the killer of the old one is still out there. He didn't sleep with her without multiple reasons. Missing her was the biggest and most prominent one. A small teeny-tiny reason was to stop her from trying out.

A second reason is Throwbolt. She looks like an amateur. Just tossing lightning around like it's a toy. And it seems to be coming from her palms.

A third reason is Throwbolt's powers. It doesn't seem she can control the path of the lightning once it leaves her body. And again, it's like she hasn't trained it and is just whipping it out like she is at a drunken frat house.

Jay decides to invest some research into Electrokinesis. Even if he can't use it. He would want to train Throwbolt in her powers and make her a pawn. "Should I make my own team?" Jay whispers to himself as he begins smirking. He's forced to cover his lower face with his right hand. This is the most he's felt in a while besides his time with Suzu. Why hadn't he thought about this before? He doesn't have to be on his own hero team. Hell, they don't even need to be heroes...

——————

Throwbolt continues to fire at where Black Samson will be but the guy is decently fast. And while her lightning is fast, her aim as not.

Black Samson changes his direction towards Throwbolt since he gets tired of evading. That, and his suit can't let him fly forever.

As Samson flies towards Throwbolt his jet pack is hit by a larger lightning bolt as Throwbolt holds her hands together.

Samson falls out of the air, but instead of slamming down into the ground her rolls. And after one roll he keeps his momentum as he gets up to his feet and charges Throwbolt.

Samson turns his body as two bolts of electricity whizz past him. "Raaaaa!" He throws an overhand punch that lands directly in the center of Throwbolt's face. The punch sends her flying backwards through the air and she lands on her back.

Throwbolt lands on her back and her powers fade away as she returns to normal.

"Tch!" Jay clicks his tongue. It seems that he will have to train her in hand-to-hand combat as well. Probably a melee weapon that would allow her to channel electricity through it would be best. Some gadgets like Darkwing's might help her out immensely as well. More work than he would like, but the results and rewards would be great. And Throwbolt would likely be very greatfull since he helped her. Jay concludes that it's worth the hassle and effort.

"Ugh~" Throwbolt sits up.

Black Samson walks over to her and extends his left hand to help her up. She takes his hand and Samson pulls her up to her feet. Throwbolt doesn't let his hand go and turns towards the viewing box and raises Samson's hand into the air.

"Whoooo!" "Yeah!" "Good fight!" *whistles*

Jay shakes his head at the idiots cheering. Black Samson should have been more cautious. Throwbolt could have been pretending and just been trying to lure him in to zap him.

Jay watches the rest of the tryouts and is disappointed. Nobody else really has anything eyecatching. Sure there was a cyborg guy, but he was as frail as a tin can and seemed to be working on windows 1. Jay considered giving him an upgrade, but dropped the idea after seeing that he wouldn't be able to win the guy over. He somehow was selfless and selfish at the same time. And Jay didn't want to deal with him.

Well, there was this little girl. He did wonder about her and ended up looking her up. She was called Monster Girl. Used to go by Monster Woman. Apparently she is somehow aging backwards, something that Jay does want to look into. Maybe he could shove her in the Flaxan dimension. But if she really is aging backwards he would need to find a way to reverse her reverse aging. And she does seem to be a little fiesty, but he can work with that. And if he fixes her age problem she would be loyal to him. Definitely a contender for his team.

There is also a guy that has chilling powers. Chill Pill. Jay would change the guy's name before he lets him on his team. He apparently needs to stay in his suit to regulate his body temperature since it's significantly lower than the average human and without his suit he would die. Jay would have to solve that problem since if his little glass dome helmet cracks he would basically die. But if he does fox it, he would be able to have a person that can emit beams of ice. Nothing too specific on his powers since they're filled by his suit. But Jay doesn't mind finding out after he fixes the guy.

Everyone gets back into the main observation room and look at Robot. Jay stays in the corner but now he leans against the wall. He also looks at Eve who is standing next to Mark near him. The girl seems to have woken up on the wrong side of the bed this morning. Maybe he should ask what's wrong, use some of his counselor skills.

Jay looks over at Throwbolt and he sees her standing next to Dupli-Kate and Bugeye. Jay increases his hearing.

"Look at Jay over there. Isn't he kinda…. different in person?" Throwbolt talks with Kate.

Kate shrugs. "He does seem a bit weird after he came back from the Flaxan's dimension"

Throwbolt puts her hands on her hips. "Hmmm. Maybe. But I kinda like the dark and mysterious types too. It's probably even better that he isn't all smiles. Makes him seem more human y'know. Like he's one of us"

Kate shakes her head. "I'd keep your fantasies to yourself, unless you wanna text me about them" She takes out her phone and they exchange numbers. "And he's in costume so he isn't Jay. Right now he's-"
