Ch. 16 New Guardians and Disappointment

"It is my pleasure to introduce the new Guardians of the Globe" Robot monotonously says.

Robot puts his arms behind his back and looks among the crowd. "Black Samson. Shrinking Rae. Dupli-Kate. Monster Girl.-"

Rex looks at the small girl with a long ponytail. "Ahahahaha!" He loudly laughs. Then he puts his hands on his knees and bends down to the girls height. "Awwwww~! Look at her! She's adorable" Rex then stands up and looks at Robot. "But isn't there like an age requirement for this ride?" He then looks at the people around him. "Am I wrong? It seems 'Weird' right?"

Everyone looks at Rex with varying expressions. Most looking at him like he is stupid or with shock.

"Rex" Robot doesn't approve of his comments that are purposely trying to cause trouble for seemingly not reason.

"I don't know, you're here. Isn't there a dick size requirement?" Monster Girl pinches her thumb and index finger together to emphasize the size of his dick.

Rex turns towards the little girl. "I'm sorry?!" He can't believe this little girl is talking to him like this.

"For what?" Monster Girl puts her hands on her hips after holding up her pinky finger. "Your tiny dick? I mean with the way your strutting around here…." She leans forward. "….. you must be compensating for something" She frowns mockingly and looks at his crotch.

Rex looks around as people laugh at him. He can't just let a little girl talk to him like this. So he grabs a metal pellet from his hip and primes it to explode with energy. "Somebody ought to teach 'you~' some mother fucking… What. The. Fuck-"

Monster Girls left arm begins to glow green and exponentially increase in mass. She then punches Rex in the face and sends him crashing through the glass of the viewing room and down into the combat room.

"Aaaaaaahhhhhhhhh!!!" Rex goes flying towards the ground and rolls once he hits the floor. "Gah! Ughh~" He groans. "Heugh" Rex pushes himself up onto his hands and knees. He's mask basically destroyed, his right eye is already bruising, his nose is bleeding, and his hair is a mess. That's not even describing the way he feels. His brain is spinning around with a concussion either from the initial hit or from the impact with the floor. And his organs feel a little jumbled as well.

*BAMM!*

Monster Girl lands on the ground in front of Rex and the floor beneath him shakes and rumbles.

"Guess you missed my tryout" Monster Girl says as she stands up. Her body disappears in blue swirls and is replaced with a giant green figure that is tall and packed with muscles. The only thing it wears are some cloth wrapped around its wrist and forearms and ankles. And some basic cloth around its hips. The little girl is not more and is only monster now. She can still control herself, which helps greatly. But the monster is definitely male. "Still think I'm adorable?" She mocks.

Rex tries to stand up.

*WHAM!!*

"Eugh!" Rex gets slapped across the giant room and heavily hits a wall. He falls to the floor and props himself up on his elbow and forearm. "Pleh" Rex spits out three of his teeth. He closes his palm and forces energy into the teeth. Rex looks at the green monster as it walks up to him. "You little bitch"

Monster Girl then begins running at him. Rex stand up and throws his explosive teeth and they hit Monster Girls chest.

After getting hit on the chest by the explosions Monster Girl stops running and looks at her chest and then back to Rex Splode with a smirk. "Awwww~. Now 'thats' adorable"

Rex grabs one of the tubes that hold the pellets on his hips and primes it to explode. "I'm gonna blast that smile, right off your stupid. Green. Face" The bones in his hand and beginning of his forearm become visible.

Robot and Eve are closest to the hole in the glass. Mark stands behind them.

"Please stop. This is hardly constructive" Robot tries to stop the fight verbally but his words fall upon deaf ears.

Jay is watching from the side still. He wonders if Rex's powers are from his bones. Or just why they are visible in general. It's like an easy X-ray. "At least he can show the doctors his broken bones after this fight"

Monster Girl charges at Rex again and he throws the explosive at her. But it does nothing. Not even a scratch. She just brings both fists into the air and brings them down onto Rex.

Rex collapses to the ground from the hit. Monster Girl then straddles Rex. She places her left hand on his chest to keep him still and punches the shit out of his face repeatedly.

Mark points at the fight and looks at Eve, Rex's girlfriend. "Uhhhh~. Is this ok?"

Eve has a small smile on her face. She shrugs. "He asked for it"

Jay can tell that something definitely happened between Eve and Rex. Maybe they broke up? But what would cause them to break up and Eve to take pleasure in his pain? Jay looks at Dupli-Kate. "He didn't" Jay sees that Kate also has a small smile on her farce, but also some worry mixed in. "Oh my god, he did. He really did. I know he's stupid, but I didn't think he was that stupid" Jay can't believe Rex cheated on Eve with Kate. Then he realizes something. "Technically there are 3 Kates….. Did he have a man's best dream?" Jay shrugs. "I've done it with more before" And he goes back to watching him getting the rest of his teeth punched in.

Rex can't even fight back. And with each punch his limbs struggle a little bit. But with each punch the limbs move less and less.

Monster Girl goes for one big punch.

*Whizzzzz* *Bmph!*

Monster Girl's fist is caught by Mark.

Mark holds the fist like it's nothing and looks down at the green monster. "Okay. Enough"

Monster Girl pulls her fist back and Mark let's it go, but not before he is pulled off balance. "Get lost Boy Scout" Monster Girl then decks Mark.

Invincible goes flying towards a wall like Rex did. But instead of slamming into the wall Mark lands on his feet and launches off the wall towards Monster Girl with both his fists in front of him as he flies at her.

"I said. Enough!" Mark punches Monster Girl in the face and sends her flying back in the opposite direction she punched him in.

The green monster bounces off the floor once. And just before it hit the wall the blue mist surround it and Monster Girl turns back into a girl. But just before she can hit the wall she is caught by someone.

"Uggghh" Monster Girl moans as she feels the impact. Even if it was lessened it still hurt. She looks up and sees Eternal's face.

"You alright?" Jay asks. He holds her small frame in his arms like a Princess. He's surprised how small she actually is. The complete opposite of her monster form.

"Invincible hit that little girl!" Someone from the crowd of people says.

Mark looks from the viewing room to Monster Girl and Jay. "O-Oh S-Shit. Look I-I'm so~ sorry"

Monster girl grabs her head. "I'm alright. You can put me down now"

Jay sets her down on the ground. "You don't need to apologize Mark. You stopped the fight. And you didn't punch a little girl. It was the monster" He glares up at the viewing room. "Did anyone else have the balls to stop her from killing the idiot?"

Nobody responds and everyone looks in other directions. Some people whisper but Jay doesn't listen.

"Exactly. So be quiet" Jay loudly says and admonishes the supposed heroes and heroines.

Monster Girl holds her stomach and walks towards Rex and Mark. "Nah~, it's my bad. The kid thing sets me off every time, and then it's like…" She holds her hands up like claws. "Rawr. Beast mode" She drops her arms and her right arm goes around her abdomen. "Sorry about the dick joke. I'm sure your junk is awesome" She then holds out her hand to help Rex off the ground.

Instead of taking her hand he gets himself up to one knee with great effort and holds his hand up. "It's fine. I'm good. You're good" He says in a strained tone. He gives her a thumbs up. "You can punch…. hard"

Monster Girl doesn't respond and walks past Rex towards the exit while she holds her stomach and head.

"Hsssss" Rex hisses out his breath through his remaining teeth as he stand up. "Didnt need your help asshole" Rex flips Mark off. As he walks away he holds his stomach like he's trying to keep his organs from spilling out. "Oh Christ"

Rex shuffles his way out of the room behind Monster Girl.

Mark looks at Jay with a questioning look.

Jay shrugs. "I only have a theory that I'm gonna keep to myself"

"Great~" Mark floats into the air and back to the broken window.

Everyone is back in the viewing room and in their original spots. The only difference is that Rex is hunched over with his right hand on his right knee and his left arm holding his abdomen.

"AS I WAS SAYING" Robot begins talking again. "Welcome to the Guardians of the Globe, Monster Girl"

Monster Girl herself doesn't look happy and rubs her elbow awkwardly.

"Gonna shit blood" Rex whispers to himself as he feels his liquified organs pooling together.

Jay can't help the smile that appears on his face. 'That's gotta be the funniest shit I'll hear in a while. God damn. And I'm sure you'll shit more than blood you cheater'

Robot looks at Rex. "Along with Rex Splode. Onceheisrecovered" Robot quickly adds before looking to his side and motioning toward Eve. "And our final member. Atom Eve"

Eve herself doesn't look pleased. Her arms are crossed and she's glaring at Robot like he kicked her puppy or something.

"Thank you all for coming today. We will be making a public announcement shortly.

Everyone leaves except for Robot, Eve, Mark, Jay, and Rex because he is trying to gain his strength to move.

"Robot!" Eve aggressively says as she walks up to the thing.

"No need to thank me. I obviously needed to remain impartial" He monotonously says. But then his tone changes to a slightly more happy one. "But I'm still delighted so many members of the Teen Team made the cut"

"I can't be on the same team as Rex and Kate" Eve declares and swiftly exits.

'Called that shit' Jay says in his mind.

Mark holds out his hand towards Eve. "What? Why? Hey, Wait!" He then follows after Eve.

Robot looks at the sorry excuse of a man that is hunched over. "Rex. What did you do?"

"Ugh!" Rex managers to somehow slightly stand up. His right hand now on his thigh and not his knee. "Thanks for the help robot. Can't~ wait~ to be on your team" Rex then scurries out of the room.

Now only Jay and Robot remain.

Jay walks up to Robot and stands next to him. Robot has his arms behind his back and Jay has his arms folded in front of his chest.

Jay closes his eyes. "You remained impartial, huh?"

Robot turns to look at Eternal. "What are you trying to imply?"

Jay shakes his head. "Not implying anything. Just wondering why you would includ Rex Splode unless there was a special reason. And Duplicate-Kate. I believe both don't meet the cut. But that's just how I view things. And I believe Eve is easily worth 5 of Rex and Kate"

Robot looks straight ahead. "People may view my actions and choices as strange. But I have taken many thing and variables into account throughout the day. It is merely a coincidence my previous teammates are on the new Guardians of the Globe"

Jay begins walking out. "That's a long winded way of saying the same thing. Good luck Robot, you'll need it"

Robot watches Eternal leave and then looks down at the floor in silence.

Jay marks the people who he will contact in the future to 'help' and recruit. First people on that list will be Chill Pill and Throwbolt. These will be the two heavy hitters of his team if he can properly gauge and help train their powers. Or they'll at least be the unique personalities of the team.

Unfortunately, the list isn't very long. Only a few names have made their way onto it. It seems he will need to scout some people from the streets.

Jay goes to one of the higher observation rooms. It's been an hour and the new Guardians are going to have their first meeting.

Not wanting to be there in person, he goes to the observation room. He may not want to be there in person, but that doesn't mean he doesn't want to listen in. See how bad the new Guardians actually are and if they are as much of a joke as he thinks they are. They have big shoes to fill after all.

But just before he enters, he can hear that someone is already in the room. Jay sends a camera-nanite with a camera inside and sees it's his dad.

Nolan has his arms folded across his chest and is glaring down at the Guardians below. His mustache as full as ever, if not a little higher as he tries to hide his own disappointment in the new Guardians.

"Who ever is out there, I recommend you leave right now" Nolan says without turning around.

Jay opens the door and walks in.

"I said leave not come in" Nolan disgruntledly says as he turns around. "Jayden?"

"Nice to see you too dad" Jay walks out to Nolan's right and looks down at the new Guardians.

Nolan's face softens after he realized it was his son. "Sorry about that, I-"

"Don't worry about it. I would have been mad too" Jay watches as Robot begins talking to his team members. "What do you think of the new Guardians of the Globe?"

"What do I think" Nolan narrows his eyes at the ants down below him and his son. "I think you and I are about to be a lot busier. You gonna keep your school counselor job?"

"Firstly, that's an understatement, I wouldn't be surprised if Cecil hires a babysitter for the new Guardians. And secondly, I've been thinking about quitting. I don't want to, but I don't think I'll have much of a choice" Jay does regret that he won't be able to go to the school and help the teenagers. And not being able to talk with his coworkers is unfortunate, but can be remedied by just talking with them as friends and not work friends.

"Well, even if your identity wasn't dragged into the light I would have recommended that you switch over to a full-time hero. The world will need us, and we can't afford distractions" Nolan closes his eyes as Rex Splode and Black Samson argue.

Jay stays silent. He watches as Samson puts Rex in his place. And Jay approves of the way Samson did it.

Samson leans forward in front of Rex's still bruised face and talks slowly and firmly. "I don't know you yet. So I'm gonna assume that was a joke and I don't need to beat yo ass until all you wanna do is call me 'Dad' again"

Rae, Kate-2, and Monster Girl all gasp upon hearing this threat.

Samson stands back up and looks at the rest of the team as he folds his arms over his chest. His gauntlets tap against his chest piece as he does so. He then sets his sights on Robot, the team leader. "I don't know you either. But we need a leader we can look in the eye. Not a bunch of 1s and 0s….. No offense"

Jay can't believe the audacity of this bitch.

Black Samson thinks that he should be leader because he has more experience being on a team and not the leader of a bunch of teenagers playing hero. Jay thinks that Samson has a point, but that saying this in front of the entire team is uncalled for. If Jay was Robot he would discipline Samson and make an example of him. Obviously not hurt him physically, because as Rex points out: Samson is just a dude in a suit that takes batteries. But there are other ways, toilet cleaning duty perhaps?

Kate 2 and Rae end up going to the gym and Rex ends up creepily following after then after they both said that they don't want him to.

Samson walks up next to Robot. "Good first day, Robot~" He condescendingly says before continuing to walk past.

"Uhm…." Monster Girl grabs Robot's attention and holds up the training schedule. "I can't do 3 combat exercises a day"

"I'm on a rather tight time table to get this team operational" Robot doesn't move at all but stresses his words.

Monster Girl moves the paper in her hand around while she sits cross legged on a square Rosen from the floor. "Whenever I transform I get younger…" She stands up and walks over to Robot. "… it's part of the curse that gives me my powers. I don't look it but I'm 24 years old. I used to go by Monster Woman, but it got too hard to explain so…"

Robot is unmoving as he listens to his new teammate explain.

"If you don't want to start changing my diaper. 3 exercises a day are too much for me" Monster girl stands in front of Robot.

"I didn't-" Robot stops himself. "Of course. My apologies. It must be, difficult"

"Try having a normal relationship looking like this" She motions at her body and looks down at her flat chest. "The guys who are interested are either going through puberty or popping up on sex offender registries"

"I understand what it's like" Robot quickly responds. "For the world to look at you and see one~ thing. Never knowing the truth of what's inside"

"Hah" Monster Girl huffs. "How can you understand? You're a robot" She walks past him and out of the room.

Robot is left standing there alone… again.

Nolan looks over shocked, he didn't mean to say it out loud when his son is right here. But hearing Jayden say the same thing was a shock.

Jay glares down at the nearly empty room. "These are supposed to be the new Guardians? They can't even stop bickering for two minutes. Sure Darkwing and the Immortal argued from time to time, but it was about important topics like how to handle disasters or life. These idiots can't even decide when to meet up. God damn it!"

Nolan narrows his eyes and puts his hand on Jay's shoulder. "Son-"

Jayden snaps out of it and looks at his father. "Oh, sorry. Let it slip out there for a little"

"No" Nolan shakes his head. "You're right. But this is all Earth has to defend it for now. Besides us and Mark. Do you see why you should become a full time hero? There's only one of me and Mark is still going to school. Not to mention Debbie will kill him, and us, if he drops out"

"Why me?!" Jay takes a step back. "How can I help it if he drops out or not?"

Nolan smiles and shrugs. "Do you think she will listen to our excuses?"

Jay rolls his eyes. "Good point"

"So what do you plan on doing next?" Nolan folds his arms over his chest again.

Jay looks up at the ceiling. "I think Cecil is going to help me do a public speech. I've also gotta deal with a few woman claiming they gave birth to my kids"

Nolan glares at his eldest son.

"They aren't mine!" Jay instantly claims. "I've made sure of it already. Multiple times. I know how to use a condom, it's not like it's Nebulochaotic"

Nolan raises an eyebrow as his face softens. "Nebu what now?"

Jay holds out his hands. "Condoms aren't difficult to understand! That's what I'm trying to say!"

"Ah" Nolan rubs the back of his head. "Did you really have to go around sleeping with that many girls?"

"Fair point" Jay holds up a finger. "But some of them are lying. Some left before I could even take them on a second date. Some even left before I paid the dinner bill!"

Nolan puts his hand back on Jay's shoulder. "That's tough, But. You should make sure that Suzu is alright through all of this. Imagine if this situation was reversed? How would you feel if a bunch of guys came out and said that they sl-"

Jay's expression immediately becomes furious and the air in the room drops.

Nolan takes his hand back and almost prepares to defend himself in a fight but relaxes after a second when he realizes it was only Jay. His senses went on the defense, and they haven't done that in a while…

Jay closes his eyes and when he opens them he goes back to normal. "You're right dad, thanks for pointing that out. I'll see you later"

Nolan is left alone in the room after his son leaves. If Jay did have a bunch of kids… that would make his plan much more difficult. He really does need to speed things along now that Mark has his powers, he's also left Jay in the dark much longer than he anticipated.

Jay quickly flies back to Suzu's house and floats outside her second story window. He sees her laying down while scrolling on her phone.

*tap* *tap* *tap*

Suzu nearly jumps out of the bed she was so surprised and scared. She relaxes and lays her head back down on her pillow. "Jesus fucking Christ, Jayden"

She breathes and catches her breath. "Just open the window"

Jay gets into the room and closes the window. "Sorry about that"

"What are you doing?" Suzu pinches the bridge of her nose. "Did you forget I have a doorbell and a phone?"

Jay walks over to her and floats into the air above Suzu. "I just wanted to see you as fast as possible"

"Why? Did something happen?" Suzu puts her phone on the nightstand next to her.

"You can say a few things happened" Jay reaches down and moves some of Suzu's hair out of her face. "You wouldn't have liked the new Guardians. It's basically a worse Teen Team"

"What?" Suzu reaches up and puts her hand on Jay's suit. "How is it a worse Teen Team?"

Jay rolls his eyes. "Robot is the leader of the Guardians like he was of Teen Team. Rex Splode and Dupli-Kate are still on this team. There is a new young member. It's Monster Girl who is actually a 24 year old trapped in a child's body-"

Jayden pauses when he sees the incredulous look of Suzu. "I know it's weird. And that is its own whole different topic. Now, they also have Shrinking Rae. She is around the same age as Teen Team. And the final member is a throwback"

Jay smirks. "Well to be honest, I wouldn't be surprised if her throws his back out. It's Black Samson, the guy who retired from the original Guardians after losing his powers. He basically has a retarded version of your suit"

Suzu opens her mouth but gets cut off before she can even speak.

"I say that nicely. Samson's suit is just a jet pack chest armor with boot and gauntlets. He doesn't have super strength or nothing. Only a good personality, which I wouldn't even give him credit for. But anyway, the new Guardians can't even decide who is leading them and won't listen to Robot" Jay puts his right hand on Suzu's cheek. "Sorry to interrupt you, I'm just very disappointed with the new Guardians"

Suzu smiles and puts her free hand over Jay's. "Maybe it's not a bad thing that I missed out"

"You aren't missing much, and they plan on waking up at 6 every morning to train" Jay smiles down at his girlfriend.

"Wait" Suzu looks around the room as she tries to remember something. "Wasn't there another member of Teen Team? Did she not make the cut?"

"Ah, right!" Jay nods. "This is the reason why I think they're worse than the Teen Team. Atom Eve left the team. She was initially invited but turned them down. It was very dramatic, that's about the only thing you missed"

Suzu half shrugs. "I was actually thinking of something else. About making my own team"

Jay pauses for half a second, it's so fast that Suzu doesn't notice. "Yeah? What we're you thinking?"

"I didn't get that far, but I do know some people" Suzu doesn't elaborate. "And I know you don't like working in teams, so I won't ask you…"

Jay touches his forehead to hers. "Do you want me on your team?"

"It would be nice to have you on it" Suzu moves her hand up Jays chest to his neck.

Jay gives her a light kiss on her forehead. "I actually thought of making my own team as well"

"Really?" Suzu responds quickly and pushes Jay up, but isn't successful until Jay moves himself. "Since when?!"

"Since I saw the Guardian's tryouts. I've actually thrown a small list of potential members together" Jay pulls his phone out.

"Am I on that list?" Suzu asks.

Jay seriously looks at her. "No"

Suzu's expression turns cold and angry. "Why?"

"Because…" Jay sets his phone on the nightstand. "… If we are on the same team I won't be able to defeat the villains or save the citizens if I'm too worried about you. Even if your armor is indestructible, I would still worry about you. I'm not saying it's your fault, it's mine and I know it. But that doesn't mean it's not true"

Suzu rubs the corners of her eyes. "Fine, guess we will both make our own teams"

Jay smiles lovingly. "Cmon, just picture it. My team and your team. We will be the leaders and we can collaborate when we need to. Or we can compete to see who gets the better team. Maybe we can even do some role play~…"

The hero suit Jay is wearing turns to a business suit and a hat right in front of Suzu's eyes.

"H…how-" Suzu grabs the collar of his suit and it feels like fabric, not the metallic feeling of the nanites.

"Crazy, right?" Jay changes the suit to a tshirt and jeans. "These guys are so small that they can mimic other materials. And they don't need to charge"

"What the hell" Suzu grabs a pillow and covers her face with it.

Jay moves the pillow slightly to see a part of her face. "You ok? Did I do something wrong?"

Suzu pushes the pillow onto Jay's face. "Yes, but that's not why I'm upset right now. I'm just frustrated that your suit is already so advanced and my suit is still on mark 2.

"2?" Jay muffles out through the pillow.

Suzu rolls her eyes. "It's not like I've been in bed all day long while you were out"

"So what's your group gonna be called?" Jay asks after Suzu moves the pillow back to the bed.

"Don't laugh" Suzu blushes. "I was thinking…. The Paragons"

Jay covers his mouth with his hand and floats up into the air. "Pfffft! Sorry!" Jay covers his face and then puts his hands behind his back. "Sorry, not funny. The Paragons huh?"

Not even a second later.

"Hahahaha!" Jay bursts out laughing and places his hands over his abdomen. "Paragon? As in perfect? Like a person or thing regarded as a perfect example of a particular quality?"

"Damnit Jayden!" Suzu grabs her pillows and starts throwing them up at Jay who avoids them and catches the last one.

Jay puts the pillow behind his head as he floats in the air on his back. "I'm sorry! I just wasn't expecting that, you can laugh at mine when I tell you"

Suzu sits up and moves her back against the headboard. "Let me guess. Your team name will be… The Eternals"

Jay stops floating in the air. "That… might not be such a bad name. Did you come up with that right now?"

Suzu folds her arms over her chest in her pajamas. "I did, and it's not a good name" She looks to the side. "It'll make you sound narcissistic and pretentious"

"True" Jay moves around in circles near the ceiling. "The team name I was thinking was The Sentinels"

Jay keeps his other team idea a secret. This one is for the public.

Suzu looks like she wants to laugh but drops her head. "That is a better name…"

Jay floats down to the bed next to Suzu. "Your name isn't bad either, I was just being rude. The Paragons could be a great team, especially if you are leading it"

Suzu looks away from him. "No, I'm changing the name"

"Awww, don't pout" Jay lays on his back and moves his arm beneath her pillow. "Coming up with names is hard"

Suzu rolls over onto Jay and puts her head on his shoulder as she lays on him. "Stop talking"

"Hmmmm" Jay humms as he floats into the air with Suzu on him.

"Jayden! Why?!" She wraps her arms around Jay as they float up.

"You said not to talk, and I didn't want you to be all pouty. Even if it is adorable" Jay puts his arms around Suzu and holds her close.

"There are better ways" Suzu looks at the bed now decently far below her.

"Really?" Jay can feel Suzu's body pressed against his. "Flying always helps clear my head"

"I'm glad that works for you, but I'm still not used to it" Suzu begins trying to calm her heart down.

"Then all the more reason to bring you flying with me from time to time" Jays gently rests his head next to Suzu's. "I love you"

"I'm sure you said that to most of the girls tweeting about your relationship with them" Suzu knows how to stab him where it hurts.

Jay winces. "That… Cecil and I are working on that whole thing. Give it a few days and people will move past this. And I'm sorry this happened. But I really do love you and you alone Suzu"

"I'm just letting you know I don't appreciate all the woman you dated and slept with" Suzu pinches his neck.

"I understand. Because I don't know what I would do if suddenly a bunch of guys came out and started the same thing but with you. But this will be taken care of" Jay brings his right hand to her head and starts running his fingers through her hair.

"I've already done something to a few of the liars" Suzu evilly says. "And before you ask, I have some connections in some pretty high places. The MTC isn't just a tech company that works with the government"
