Chapter Thirty Three

The weirdest thing happened.

Lia woke up in the middle of the night to the frightening sight of Chase standing beside her bed.

It was frightening because it was 2:50 in the morning and she hoped he didn't normally watch her to sleep, or at least she hoped to God that this was not a night habit of his that she was not aware of.

For reference, she is somewhat of a light sleeper. So although she didn't wake up to the sound of the man's padding across the living room, entering her bedroom and moving towards her bed, her eyes fluttered open as the man stood by her side looking down at her.

It would have been way more terrifying if she slept in the dark, but she slept in a room more well-lit than a football stadium, so it actually was more unnerving than terrifying.
