Chapter 8 Beastmens Fighting Pub Part 2

The beast smacks the other beast with its tail.

It sounds like a whip.

Inspecting their environment, I saw a grown man with the eyes of reptilians.

They all seem relaxed and comfortable as they continue to drink.

The men enjoy the fight.

Spotting four individuals in the corner of the pub.

They stand out more than the rest.

I noticed him right away.

An old man in a purple jacket, with gray hair and a yellow tie.

Sitting next to him is a young man with a buzz cut and a scar over his head.

Sitting across from them at their table.

A man with long brown hair and yellow eyes was sitting next to him.

Another old man with a trench coat with long white hair and yellow eyes.

I waved over to Catherine and Eric to let them see the target we were all looking at.

"I found him, he was sitting across the bar with three men."

I said, pointing him out.

After we are done assessing the scene.

Quietly, I shut the door.

Nodding at Catherine.

Me and Catherine turned to Eric.

"We have to move before this scent of blood gets outside. These monsters might get a whiff and catch onto us."

Eric says.

"What makes you think that, Eric?"

Catherine asks.

Eric grabs a bottle filled with liquor.

"We just have to assume they are more capable than normal human beings."

Eric says.

"That's just like you, Eric, always open-minded."

I said.

"Here's the plan: I will first attempt to assassinate Max. If that doesn't work, I'll burn that cage using this bottle filled with liquor and a dagger imbued with magic."

He holds it up to show us.

"You want to burn them alive?" I asked.

"Yes."

Eric responds, hiding the bottle inside his cloak.

"While I get their attention, Catherine comes in after me to slice him up. Faron, you will be our last hope if this plan goes south. With that being said, let's begin."

Eric said.

Me and Catherine nod, Eric sprints out of the door, leaping into the crowd.

Eric throws his dagger at Max.

The dagger bounced off his barrier.

Catching everyone's attention except for the beast, they continue to rip at each other's flesh.

The barrier had a rippling effect, with shades of blue aura around it.

So Max has mastered his defense, it seems.

"I knew it wouldn't be that easy."

Eric said.

Max frowns at Eric.

"Who the hell is that kid?"

A man shouts at Eric, he now has everyone's full attention.

Eric throws the bottle filled with liquor at the cage.

Throwing the dagger right behind it.

The men surround Eric, after realizing what he has done.

The cage set aflame right after dagger the bottle of liquor.

Spreading the flame.

The beasts flinch at the sight of fire.

They roar, now entrapped in a ring of fire.

"This kid ruined my night!"

A man yells.

"The bet is off now! Because of this brat!"

They all begin to rush at Eric.

"I have to help him."

Catherine said.

Catherine dashes out, kicking one of them in the face.

The man grunts, holding his jaw.

"You are all dead!"

The man shouted.

"Everyone wait!"

A man shouted from the corner of the pub.

Getting out of his seat, he walked towards Catherine.

"Listen kid, we can work something out. It doesn't have to be this-"

Catherine raised her scythe towards her side.

Impaling his hip with her scythe.

"Agh..."

The man grunts, as blood streams from his mouth.

"Dale!"

Another man shouts from behind.

Catherine pulls out her scythe, kicking him to the ground.

Eric throws a dagger towards the man, sprinting towards Catherine.

Max sneaks out of the pub.

"Go after him! We will be right behind you!"

Eric shouted.

The men surrounding Catherine and Eric begin to transform into giant yellow and green Lizards; they roar at Catherine and Eric.

As their muscles bulge under their scales, and sharp spiky bones.

"You all will be put on a platter when I'm done with you!"'

One of the giant reptilian creatures screams.

Catherine and Eric fight the beastmen.

I sneaked into the crowd trying not to be noticed.

Catherine slashes one of the beast's heads off.

His blood splatters everywhere as it leaks from his torso.

I took the opportunity to stand up, sprinting through the shocked, angry crowd of beast lizards.

Jumping out of the window to chase the target.

He turns the corner at the end of the street.

We are both running past the traffic.

He turns to the next corner and I see cars passing by.

Headlights shine on the alleyway when passing by, giving away his shadow.

I ran into the alleyway.

Running into the alleyway, Max catches me off guard.

He swings an iron pipe towards my head.

I duck, drawing my sword from my hip.

I block the next attack, as our weapons collide with each other.

The metal echoes in the alleyway, he pushes me back with his barrier.

Repelling my attack.

Catching myself from the small impact.

My guard was lowered, I was vulnerable to his next attack.

Max lifts the metal pipe over his head.

I flipped my sword to the sharpest side.

This technique is hard, but I can only do it with the katana I'm wielding right now.

Lifting the opposite side of the blade towards the pipe.

Slicing it in half, Max falls down.

He holds his chest.

Blood drips on from the tip of my blade.

I stood over an injured Max.

Still holding the sword on the opposite side.

"What are you waiting for?"

Max says.

"Finish me."

Max said as I stood over him.

"You are hesitating because you want to know why, don't you?" Max asks.

I lower my stance.

"What do you mean?" I asked.

"You know what I mean. You always ask yourself this question. Why are rogues among the ranks of one of the greatest military people?"

Max asks.

"Because you are dangerous and you can leak information about Ohme, it's also been proven that rogues are just spies from other organizations."

I said.

Max laughs.

"You really believe that? The truth is, there were many more rogues like me. Before I even became one, I was always Jin before, just like you."

Max says.

"Jin?"

I ask.

Max gets up, pausing before he explains.

Blood slowly slid down his face.

Max still stands for a mere few seconds.

Before his body falls on the ground, limp blood stains the ground under his corpse.

Someone tapped my shoulder.

"Why did you hesitate?" Eric asks.

I stare at his corpse, the dagger that killed him is now lodged in his forehead.

"He was just stalling, Faron, next time they won't be so soft like him. People like him will say anything to stay alive."

Eric says, disappointed in me.

Eric grabs the dagger, pulling it from Max's forehead.

"There you are!"

A man shouted, approaching us.

It began to rain.

I still continue to stare at Max's lifeless body.
