Chapter 10 Nathans Past

"That's enough Father."

Jett said, confronting the big black beast.

The beast's figure is revealed fully in the moonlight; it's covered in scars that slowly close as blood drips from them.

Jett has a slim fit figure with black hair and blue eyes.

While Joni has blonde hair and blue eyes.

Jett and Joni face the beast, but the beast slowly transitions into man, groaning in pain as his bones snap back into place.

The beast growls slowly turn into a man's groans.

The man has extremely long black hair with yellow eyes.

I can't see his face, it's blurred.

Unlike Jett's and Joni's faces.

The man stretches afterwards.

"Indrik, do you realize what you have done?"

Joni shouts.

"I know what I have done, I was fighting for our people!"

Indrik shouts at her.

"That's enough, father! It's proof enough that you have come back alone. We have lost more than we have gained! And for you to attack your sons! Preying on them like a predator!"

Jett shouts back at him.

"I'm well aware of our situation if only the alliances I made had pulled through. Ciphia was ours and those silly humans got help from warlocks and sorcerers. Everyone feared and respected me!" Indrik says.

"That is exactly why you shouldn't lead with fear but inspiration."

Joni said.

"How would I have done that! They all despise our kind. Our kin did what was necessary and took control of the situation. Even the four Vorkhans didn't stand a chance against me. But magic is the most brilliant weapon."

Indrik said, clenching his fist covered in blood.

"That's what makes you inferior, you think like a beast! But not as a man!"

Joni shouts.

He smacks her, knocking her down.

"You are right. We are not men! We are better than them!"

Indrik shouts.

He raises his claws roaring at her.

Before he launches another strike, Jett stops him.

Jett holds Indrik's arm.

Joni frowns at Indrik.

"That's enough, father."

Jett says.

Indrik growls, kicking Jett in the stomach.

Jett groans, releasing his hold on his arm.

"Oof!"

Indrik chokes Jett, slamming him down on his back.

Indrik, muscles pulse and grow while black fur begins to cover him.

He growls at Jett.

Jett attempts to resist, but Indrik easily overpowers him.

Indrik lifts him up and slamming him again.

He steps on Jett's chest.

Slowly transitioning back into his beast form.

"I'm going to kill you both and take the children."

Indrik said growling, his voice becoming inhumane but that of a beast.

Joni pounces on Indrik, as her muscles bulge.

She transforms into her beast form.

They both roar at each other wrestling in the dirt.

Indrik overwhelms Joni, punching her.

Her grip is loosened.

Indrik steps back, grabbing her leg and throwing her into the hut.

The hut shakes as Joni's body is slammed against the roof.

Falling down, I lose sight of the fight between the two. I just hear the growls and the scratches.

She falls limp, reaching out.

The black beast we saw before stands over Joni.

Another black beast jumps on Indrik's back, biting into the beast's shoulder.

Indrik roars, impaling the other beast's neck with his claws.

Making the black beast release his clench on Indrik's shoulder.

Indrik pulls him over his shoulder, slamming the beast into the ground.

The shockwave catches everyone off guard.

Indrik snarls ruthlessly, slashing at Jett.

Joni stands up growling angry.

Indrik stands over Jett's mutilated corpse.

He roars at Joni, as she screams.

Joni gets up sprinting at Indrik.

Pouncing on Indrik.

He catches her gripping her neck.

Indrik throws her through our cabin.

Joni's body flies past me and Logan.

We both stare helplessly.

Indrik looks at me and Logan walking towards Joni.

Indrik stops towering over us, his claws covered in our older brother's blood.

Indrik looks at us snarling, it's like he's assessing our worth.

"You are both pathetic. I'll come back when the time is right."

Indrik said in his beast form.

His voice was deeper, he sounded like a giant.

Indrik turns around, sprinting into the woods. I turned around to my mom.

She is covered in wounds and extremely tired. Her blonde fur is covered in blood and scars.

Joni rushes to Jett's corpse.

Joni transitions back to normal, holding Jett's corpse.

"Jett! Please, don't do this!"

Joni cried.

Dale shows up in his truck coming back.

Dale takes off his coat, covering my mother with it.

Dale looks a bit younger, his hair is black and he is wearing khakis and a business shirt.

I hear Dale whispering but I can't make out what they are saying.

Dale picks up Jett's corpse, putting him in the back of the truck.

Heading towards the hut we are in.

He looks at us and sighs.

"Come on, let's go, Nathan and Logan."

Dale said.

We follow Dale inside the truck.

Joni lay next to Jett in the truck, me and Logan just sat there speechless.

Logan holds me in his arms.

We drive around the forest looking for a spot to bury Jett.

Dale and Joni finally come back after burying Logan.

Joni gets in the truck and holds us both as she begins to cry.

Dale inspects the area of our home there, making sure Indrik isn't there.

"I'm sorry Joni, I should've been here. I should've stopped all this before it happened." Dale says.

"Dale, there is nothing you could've done about it. Your brother has a mind of his own," Joni says.

"You don't understand Indrik has caused much more death other than Jett. He's killed half the pack in his pursuit of a personal kingdom." Dale says, biting his nails.

"This isn't my blood, this is the blood of the men who died in that pointless battle, Joni."

Dale said, becoming even more frustrated.

He punches his truck.

Joni continues to sob, holding us both.

Logan is in shock.

"It's okay, I'll be here to help you guys."

Dale said, patting our heads.

"I'm not going anywhere, you understand, boys?"

Dale said.

I focus on the full moon.

Joni holds us until she falls asleep.

I walk towards Dale while everyone else is sleeping.

"Nathan, what do you want to be for your family?"

Dale asked.

"I want to be better than dad was. I want to save people I don't want to kill."

I said.

He sighs.

"Come here, Nate."

Dale said.

I walked towards him, lying on his back. I closed my eyes.

"Indrik has always been a fine Warrior. But he definitely wasn't a normal Malakai. Our people are banished from Ciphia. Now, because of his actions."

Dale said.

"Don't ever think about going there because it isn't safe for us. Do you understand? If any Malakai goes to Ciphia they will perish. '' Dale says, turning around to stare at me.

He keeps repeating this phrase over and over again until I eventually hear someone else's voice.

It's a girl's voice, she begins to chuckle as everything fades away into darkness. I fall into nothing.

"It was fun exploring your head."

The mysterious girl said, giggling.

I wake up on the ground of some random forest.

Indrik roars at me from a distance.

Sprinting towards me, stuck in place.

Indrik reaches out for me, grabbing me.

His claws tightened around my arms as he opened his jaw.

"Nathan!"

Hearing someone shout my name.

The beast snarls.
