Chapter 15 Vorkhan's Club

I sit in the police station, drinking coffee.

Skimming through evidence I compiled on my desk related to the investigation that involved Dale and his partners. I don't want the other officers to know what I'm doing.

But I'll take that risk.

While I do have the authority as the agent of the court, the officers I work alongside tend to get in the way regardless of what's going on.

Ciphia has been an exhausting place to work.

People from almost all over the world come here to start over but they come to find out.

Ciphia is just a myth, it's like the rest of the world, harsh and controlling.

That is just as intense as this small town.

But I was born here and raised here.

I'm familiar with the territories and the history.

Dale gave me a lead, and I needed to follow it. I dropped the files I was holding.

"Hey Agent Sanders."

My partner approaches me at my desk.

"I'm ready to move out, let's go. I packed my gear in your luxurious car." Tari says, I get up from my desk.

Tari wears a black suit without a tie and a fedora, her hair is black, short and wavy.

Her green eyes light up as she turns around, heading for the two doors to my car.

Walking out of the station and getting into my car, it's a mustang. Shelby GT, that's all I remember from this model. It's a metallic blue with long yellow lines for its design going across the top of it.

I organize my evidence on my desk, grabbing my car keys. I walked right behind Tari, walking outside of the police station.

Unlocking the car with my keys, me and Tari get into the mustang.

"Where are we headed?"

Tari asks.

"We are heading to the Vorkhan club. To get some tips or clues on this lead, Dale gave me. They might know something on the streets we can't see. Like someone who knows more about this secret organization than we do," I said.

Tari nods, as she opens a protein bar.

She takes a bite from it, smacking loudly.

"And I'm bringing you with me even though you're a human," I said.

"You don't have to worry about me, Alder." Tari says, munching.

"Besides, I don't need any protection from these vicious vampires," Tari says with a smile of food.

"Hmmm."

I still contemplated this idea.

Starting the car I drive, anyway.

We slowly drove through Ciphia, riding through traffic.

The traffic gets lower the farther we go to another side of Ciphia.

The darker side of Ciphia.

As we make our way out of the safe zone, we head into what we call the underworld of Ciphia.

On this side of town, laws still exist but the people don't care.

The gangs wander wild and free.

Doing whatever they want, they sort their dominance by trying to take control of this territory.

Most normal humans can't handle them.

So that's why agents from the court are sent to assist the police department. People like me and Tari have to handle cases that are out of control.

That's why I'm an agent of an organization created by The Court.

The Court is composed of Canix, and Ohme. I'm mostly associated with Canix. I don't know much about Ohme.

"You know you made it to where we are headed when you pass the giant hospital, covered in bright lights." I say.

"What is that skyscraper?" Tari asks, as she looks out the window to our left, looking at the building.

I stopped in front of the Viper Pit night club.

Pulling into the parking lot, I pulled out the keys from the ignition.

This is where Vorkhan stays most of his time.

Oddly enough, it's pretty close to the hospital.

A giant green sign is on top of the night club.

It's spelled out, Viper's Pit.

What a silly name.

The music is loud and the lights are a dark green.

We both got out of the car, walked into the club.

I turned towards Tari.

"Whatever happens, don't do anything rash," I said.

"Alder, I'll try my best to keep calm just to know I hate most of those people who reside in this part of Ciphia." Tari says.

The club is pretty big and fancy made since it's one of the first venues on the street.

The lights are in rhythm with the music; it's like an audio visualizer here.

Me and Tari walked into the club.

They are all dancing, drinking a red liquid from their own personal goblets. They all began to stare one by one as we approached the bar. I leaned over the table.

I looked over to Tari, who had her hand on her holster.

The music also stops. I turned around to see their eyes were now boiling red.

"Welcome to Lazarus Night Club," a woman says.

Clapping her hands, she speaks with her British accent.

"Look who it is. Did you forget where you are, Alder?"

She asks.

"It's the home of the Vorkhan's, our territory, our feeding grounds. Yet you bring a live human here."

She looks at Tari and back at me. Her eyes go from dazzling blue to red when looking at me.

Her name is Valentine, she is one of the six immortal Vorkhans.

They are all siblings and four of them live in Ciphia.

Arthur, Waldron, and Vaughn. Valentine wears a red dress with red lipstick.

She has long black hair. Her eyes are the color of the sky if she isn't pissed off.

"I know it's been a while but I want to talk to Waldron."

I said.

"Now, now calm down, Valentine. "Another voice can be heard. A man with a British accent, it's Vaughn. He has short, messy black hair. He was wearing a black blazer with a shirt.

Vaughn steps next to Valentine.

"You brought us a meal? Because you just ruined our party. If you give us that human, you will be forgiven." Vaughn says, drinking from his goblet.

Valentine smirks at Tari.

"No, she is with me. I'm here to see Waldron," I said aggressively. Valentine leans on the table in front.

Trying to look through my shades.

"We maybe can't kill you or hold you down forever, but we can distract you. While the others are devouring your little toy in front of you, Alder," Valentine said.

I stood up, looking at her.

The music stops as they all inch closer.
