Chapter 18 Broken Toy Solider

"We break in and conquer their headquarters."

Dale says.

This is a stupid plan.

"You can't be serious."

I heard another voice behind me. He stands above my chair.

"You would need to bring an army or a task force. Who has the manpower to destroy the Ohme? These are warriors tasked with killing beastmen like Malakai."

The man is walking around me, as he continues to talk.

He has black hair, he is wearing a suit and some shades.

His suit also looks tattered but not a scratch on him.

He continues to rant about how powerful the Ohme are.

"Even then, you would be considered a criminal by our government. You are going against a global organization, my friend, no matter how evil they are. We are beneath their heels. Even if you do win, you will put Ciphia in chaos. They maintain order here in some type of twisted fashion," he says.

The man walks up facing the old man, looking at him.

"I can't help you Dale, this is where I retreat. You asked me for information and I got you what you needed. That's all I can do for you." The man said, walking towards the door.

Turning his back on the old man.

"That's fine Sanders ,I understand you .I knew you wouldn't have agreed to this." Dale says, as Sanders opens the door, turning to look at Dale.

"I wish you luck and hope I don't have to hunt you down," Sanders says, leaving.

He shuts the door, silence fills the room.

"Shepherd, are you helping us?"

Nathan asks.

"Depends on the pay, and the plan," Shepherd says.

"We will pay you everything we have got, we need you just only you if possible." Dale says.

"Let's talk outside."

Nathan says, opening the door.

Walking out, Dale and Shepherd following behind them.

"You should help them."

Jericho says, looking at me.

"I'd rather die before I help them."

I said, staring at my missing hand.

"Be a distraction before they attack. If Thorne didn't have time to react, her side would be defenseless."

Jericho implies.

"Why would I betray her?"

I said.

Jericho laughs.

"Betray her? You realize you are just one of her pawns, you mean nothing. You are expendable. Look at what she tried to make you do. You are a warrior trained to kill strong men, yet she sent you after a woman and child."

Jericho says while chuckling.

"Don't forget Jericho, I had a mission to kill you."

I said.

"She wanted me because I'm worth more than other people to her. She is very possessive. Now you haven't come back, you are just her broken toy soldier now."

Jericho says, looking at me with a smile.

"You are ridiculous."

I said, looking at him.

"I'm not a kid, you are on the wrong side. Why do you think there are more rogues in Ohme than loyal subjects because people like you lose their value for every second they live? You know what you need to ask her the question."

Jericho says while smirking.

"What question?"

I asked.

"Who is Catherine's father?"

Jericho says, looking at me.

"What does that have to do with anything?"

I asked.

"Shhh, their coming back kid."

Jericho says.

I look at my arm, I'm not restrained, I could just leave here any moment, but I'm too weak.

I lost too much blood.

All three men walked back into the room looking at both of us.

"I know what we agreed to, Jericho."

Shepherd said, freeing him but loosening his restraints completely.

"Thank you, I don't care about the kid, but I suggest you send it back to Thorne."

Jericho says.

"Why? You take him."

Shepherd says.

"No, trust me, he can help even if he doesn't want to."

Jericho says.

Shepherd looked at me.

"We don't want to kill anyone if it can't be helped. I have to, because my family is what matters."

Dale says, looking at me as he walks back into the room.

I have no words for them.

All I can do is look them in the eyes.

They are serious, they are going to get help and all I can do is sit here and wait for tomorrow and pray I won't die.

Not noticing all three of them, they walked out. I eventually closed my eyes for hours sitting doing nothing.

"I don't trust that kid, he's a killer!"

Nathan shouts.

"I trust him."

Dale says.

Opening my eyes, I saw the three of them discussing the plan further.

"I know he won't give us up that easily. We are wasting time because we have already discussed the plan."

Dale says, looking at Nathan and Shepherd. They both nod.

Shepherd turns to me, pulls up a chair, then sits down in front of me.

"Two days, that is all I need to watch you keep you hostage while they gather all the help they can get."

Shepherd says.

"There is no way in hell I'm waiting that long."

I said.

"That's alright, I'll treat your wounds."

Shepherd says, grabbing a first aid kit.

He treats my wound, cleaning it by disinfecting and bandaging it.

"Who knows, kid, if I'm generous enough I may turn you. So you can grow that limb back." Shepherd says.

"That's never going to happen. Go to hell."

I said.

Shepherd laughs even more.

"You can relax here kid, finally unwind, no one is going to hurt you." Shepherd says, packing up the first aid kit.

"Why didn't you kill me?" I asked.

"Because I'm not a kid killer, but that doesn't mean I don't recognize your strength, kid." He says, putting the first aid kit on the table.

I began to stretch, getting used to one arm.

The sun is up and there is no way this Vorkhan can stop me now.

Closing my eyes as time passes.

Shepherd snores.

I stood running towards the door.

Shepherd snatches me by the end of my hood.

"Not so fast, kid, your strength has been halved if not entirely erased. You only have one arm now, you've lost a decent amount of blood," he says.

Covering my mouth with a rag.

It reeks of chloroform.

"I don't want to hurt you kid." Shepherd says, but he continues talking and I can't make out what he is saying.

I closed my eyes on the first day. I was unconscious because I don't remember anything. The second day, however, I woke up at midnight. I knew this because I was in a vehicle with Shepherd.

He's talking on the phone.

"Dale, that stuff was a little too strong. But he is up now, let's get to work." Shepherd says.
