Chapter 19 Growing Rejection

Shepherd is talking on the phone with Dale.

"That was pretty fast, so does that mean you guys are ready now?" He asks, smirking as he is looking at me.

"I'll drop the kid off."

Shepherd drives the car further down the block.

I recognize we are in front of the headquarters of The Court.

He speeds through the traffic, pulling the vehicle to the side.

"The schedule has been pushed up further, kid sorry. We were going to camp here and observe them thoroughly. It looks like that isn't happening. See you soon maybe."

He parks on the curb, getting out of the car and pulling me out. I'm still dizzy from being unconscious. I stumbled trying to get up.

I hear the court's guardsmen sprinting and shouting. I can see the ends of their rifles pointing at me.

"No." Someone stops them from behind.

"Bring him in, he is the missing Jin, it seems he has been kidnapped." The man says.

"You know what we ordered him to do if he came back. We were to subdue if not kill on sight." One of the guards said.

"Let's take him in." They all nodded.

One of the guards pulls the gun back, smacking me across the face.

I woke up in a medical room.

I looked to the side, seeing a man wearing a cloak.

"Amazing, Faron, you have so many injuries, been knocked out left and right for a day. Maybe more, but even then. You still wake up, a spark dwells within you. That's why it's sad to see you fail like this. Thorne is waiting, she wants to speak with you personally." The man says, helping me out of bed into a wheelchair.

A guard comes in pushing me and slowly hides his hands underneath his long sleeved cloak.

It's a blue cloak, the hood shadows his face.

I cannot see it.

But his voice sounded very familiar.

"Who are you and what the hell is going on?" I asked. The man held his hand, stopping the guard from pushing the wheelchair.

He smacks me across the face.

"Do not take that tone with me boy! I don't have time for this take to Thorne now! Before I gut him like a fish." The man walks away, as we enter the throne room.

I groan, attempting to hold my face with my missing hand, as blood drips from my nose.

"Dismissed." Thorne turns around as the guard leaves the room.

"I've given you a second chance and you have failed me, Faron. You have come back to me in a pitiful state yet again. Eric convinced me to give him another chance. You are so skilled as a warrior, as an assassin you have so many. As. So many of my finest men have vouched for you, but it seems your heart isn't in it, Faron." Thorne says, she sighs.

"I'm so disappointed in you, Faron. I had hoped I could use you. Now you have come back to me battered and broken." She looks at me scoffing.

"Who is Catherine's father?" I asked.

"Excuse me?" Thorne asks while chuckling. She sits down on her throne chuckling even more.

"Do you even care about the rest of your men or just your daughter?"I ask, she continues to chuckle. She asked my question.

"No I don't, you are nothing but a mere child. Even Eric may fail me one day. When he does, I will put him down. I'm done hesitating. I only made Jin entertain me. But you have bored me. Becoming rogues to take me down, The Court. Impossible, you are not the Malakai." She says, pointing to Nathaniel and Dale's pictures on the board they have been investigating to bring up all the data collected on them.

In one place on a small board.

"These two Malakai will be my personal tools. I will make them even stronger than they are to kill for me. Don't you understand Faron? I want to take over Ciphia completely. With one of these Malakai by my side, I will destroy The Court for good. Only Ohme will have full control.Of Ciphia there will be no more need for Jin. The rogues will all be extinguished even if it means killing my daughter if she dares to defy me." She grins as her presence becomes more wicked, she walks towards me as her grin turns into a smile.

Her eyes ignite, burning a bright sparkling red as her aura manifests itself around the room.

"Why are you telling me all this?" I asked, smiling. She smiled, walking towards me slowly.

"Because you are going to die today." She whispered in my ear.

One of the guards burst into the throne room.

"I said no one allowed until I'm done with Faron!" She shouts, the guard insists on displaying his tablet.

"It's urgent that two groups of men have broken into the headquarters with bows and arrows. They are killing our men. Some of them are turning into giant monstrous beasts. They have split up on each side. One of the groups is on Ohme's wing. While the other group pursues Canix's wing."

Thorne looks at the camera skimming through the footage.

"Where are the Four Sentinels?" Thorne asks. The guard trembles.

She stops at one of the cameras. It's in the Canix's wing I spot Nathan amongst the group along with Dale.

"They have split up to deal with the threats according to plan. Osuri and Cerith in the Canix wing, Zenith and Paxton and Ohme's Wing. Alert them!" I slowly moved out of the wheelchair and went under the table.

"I'll oversee things in the Canix's command room, bring me my Sentinel's. We are killing Melaire today!" Thorne says, turning to my wheelchair, she sighs.

"We will deal with Faron later after we find him. There is nowhere he can go if the headquarters are under siege," Thorne says as they walk out the throne room.

Hearing the door close.

I peek through it, looking for a vent.

I need to find one so I can stay out of sight.
