Chapter 30 Raiding Vorkhan

I continue to drink a blood bag.

"So you plan to use this kid on our mission, Shepherd?"

Sinfield says he is a tall, bulky man with black hair.

He is one of Arhtur's closest men.

Then there is Hayden, one of Arthur's top men as well.

He is a scientist of some sort.

"Yeah, the kid is faster than you."

Shepherd says.

"I've done missions like this before."

I say throwing the blood pack away.

"It doesn't matter your prior experience, you're dealing with a man who has been living for centuries, who knows how many times people like you attempted to kill him. Apparently, you don't realize you're raiding the Vorkhan."

Sinfield says.

"What is that supposed to mean?"

I ask.

"Alright, that's enough for you two.We have already discussed this plan a thousand times already."

Hayden says.

"Let's get started then."

Shepherd says.

Sinfield leaves, first.

I grab my blade.

"Did you grab some daggers like I asked Shepherd?"

Following them out of the apartment.

"Remember what I said meet with Sinfield and Roy after I give you their location."

Sinfield and Hayden take the elevator down, following Shepherd out of the broken window.

We landed on the building in front of us.

Then we dashed in the blink of an eye.

Heading near Vorkhan's headquarters.

The hospital Arthur currently resides in.

There are ingredients in his lab that we need to complete Roy's and Hayden's project.

We are on standby outside of the hospital.

Waiting in a nearby building.

"Traffic is rampant, the hospital is busy as well."

Shepherd says as he observes the area.

"We can move in when Hayden sees the opportunity."

Shepherd says as he watches Hayden enter the building.

"This is a long tower, it's like a skyscraper too big to be a hospital. The bottom side is bright, brightly filled with life, while the topside is nothing but darkness."

I said to Shepherd.

"Will that's because it's mostly believed that the hospital is at the bottom while the rest of the Vorkhan headquarters are upstairs."

Shepherd says.

Shepherd's phone rings.

Standing up, Shepherd pants my shoulder.

"Remember, stick to my side and we will be fine. I've already observed their security. Just stay too close to me, Faron."

I nod.

Shepherd says, he leaps into the hospital.

Slamming into the thick window, I followed right behind him.

We landed inside a hallway.

"We have already made our way inside out of the guard's reach."

A gust of wind blows our way in a matter of seconds.

I immediately found cover in the nearby corner.

"Visitors."

A man says his voice sounds pretty intimidating.

His aura is dark and mysterious.

"Did you miss me, Arthur?"

Shepherd asks.

His footsteps get closer, this man walks with a style.

Slow but fast, he knows exactly what he wants to do next.

"You realize what you have done right?"

The man asks.

"I know who you are, Arthur, and I know what you're capable of."

Shepherd says, as he gets in his stance.

Author, footsteps stop right before my corner.

"You shouldn't have come back, Shepherd.I'll make this quick so that way you won't suffer."

Arthur says, as I lose his presence, I feel a gust of wind.

The next thing I heard was what sounded like a gunshot.

Arhtur punched Shepherd but he blocked just in time.

"Agh!"

Shepherd grunts as he is being pushed back.

"You won't last another second."

Arthur says, as he lunges his fist into Shepherd's side.

"ARGH!"

Shepherd is punched into a nearby lab.

I rush down the hallway as Arthur continues to chase Shepherd.

Making my way downstairs to meet Hayden.

Going down several flights of stairs.

Hearing voices of safety, I took cover.

Opening the door slowly, I looked out.

Spotting Hayden near leaving the room.

It was crowded, so I drew my blade.

Hayden sees me to not engage the security forces.

"What do you think that noise was?"

One of the guards asked.

"Most likely an intruder, Arthur is handling it. We are definitely on cleanup duty today."

The second guard responds.

Hayden walks past them, greeting them.

He hands me a bag.

The bag is extremely small.

I take it, putting it over my shoulder.

"This is what you are looking for, Faron, now hurry up and get out of here!"

Hayden whispers, as quietly as possible.

The guards notice Hayden but he quickly closes the door.

I sprinted, going upstairs.

Hearing thuds and bangs, upstairs sounded like a gunfight with grenades.

I open the door but Arthur blocks the doorway.

His hair is black and is combed over.

He wears a black suit that has no scratches or specks of dirt on it.

"The second visitor, what do you have in that bag?

He asks. Shepherd tackles him into the wall.

"RUN!"

Shepherd shouts.

"You messed up my suit, Shepherd. I hate it when my suit is ruined!"

Sprinting up the steps back into the hallway.

Arthur uppercuts Shepherd, knocking him off his feet, sending him into the air.

Shepherd's body flies towards me. I rolled out of the way.

Shepherd grunts as he tries to catch himself.

"I could kill you both anytime."

Arthur says, standing over Shepherd.

Arthur walks over to me, Shepherd stands up.

"I said run!"

Shepherd shouts.

Arthur turns around, punching Shepherd in the face.

Shepherd catches his punch, barely holding his fist.

The glass around us shatters.

"You think a little improvement like that can stop me?"

Arthur asks.

Arthur grabs Shepherd by the neck, lifting him.

He slowly chokes him.

Shepherd grasps for air.

"You are an insect, you will never compare yourself to me anyway. You shouldn't have come back here."

I dashed lunging my blade into Arhtur's back.

"Agh!"

Arhtur grunts, as he stands in shock, dropping Shepherd.

Pulling out the blade, I slashed at his back.

He then turns around attempting to attack me.

Throwing daggers as fast as I can, he catches them with ease.

"Thorne must've sent you, boy."

"No, I don't work with her anymore."

I say.

"That's funny. I always believed deviants wanted to lead peacefully, yet here you are. What are you fighting for?"

Arthur asked, walking towards me.

"I want her dead."

I say.

Shepherd stabs Arthur in the shoulder.

"Gah!"

Arthur grunts, as Shepherd punches him in the face.

Arthur grabs Shepherd by the neck, slamming him through the floor.

"We are going to have a long talk after this."

Pulling out a dagger, I channel energy into it.

As electricity gathers around the dagger, it is formed into a lighting bolt.

"You wouldn't dare."

Arthur says as he looks at me.

"This isn't my first time doing this."

I said, throwing the dagger as hard as I could.

It turns into a lighting spear, plunging into Arthur.

The spear charges into him, sending him down the hallway.

As it slams him into the wall, an explosion occurs.

Shepherd stands up.

"We have to go. I know that didn't take him out."

Shepherd dashes past, me leaping out of the building.

Throwing down a small bomb to cover our tracks.

Leaping into the darkness after Shepherd.

I managed to land on a nearby building.

Absorbing the shock as I harden my lower body.

Shepherd gestured to me towards him, leading the way off the building. I followed his trail.

We've been running for the past thirty minutes waiting for a phone call.

Hiding in an alleyway.

Shepherd's phone rings.

He grabs his phone from his pocket.

His hand couldn't stop shaking from what just happened.

Shepherd answers the phone, putting it on speaker.

"Hello."

Shepherd says panting.

"Do you have the serums?"

Hayden asks.

"Yes, we do have them."

Shepherd says, looking at me.
