Chapter 29 Faron's Transition

Me and Shepherd reached an apartment.

We both leap into the window, quietly.

I pant, lying down on the couch extremely exhausted.

"Do you own this apartment?"

I asked.

Shepherd sighs, as he stands recovering himself.

"I have a lot of hideouts, Faron. You will understand right, getting into this line of work you can't always trust everyone."

Shepherd says as he goes to the kitchen sink.

Splashing water on his face.

Looking at my hands.

"What the hell happened to me?"

I ask.

"I can't tell you completely what you are now. You maybe Vorkhan or not. There is only one person I know that can tell you. I met him a long time ago."

Shepherd says as he walks towards the phone.

"He can help us both. It's been a while since I have seen him."

Shepherd grabs the phone, dialing the number.

"For now, just take a rest and let your body heal."

Shepherd says as he waits for the other line to pick up.

Turning to the side, I act like I'm sleeping.

Listening in on the Shepherds' conversation as the other line picks up.

"Hello?"

Shepherd asks, waiting for a response.

I heard a man's voice.

"Shepherd? It's been a long time. It must be important for you to be calling me."

The man says.

"Hayden, it's been a hard time, you know why we couldn't talk to each other."

Hayden sighs over the phone.

"Fine, I'll help you if you do me a favor in return."

Hayden says.

Shepherd hesitated for a moment.

"What do you want me to do, Hayden?"

Shepherd questioned the favor.

"It's about Roy. You remember the project we didn't finish?"

Hayden says.

"Yeah, I remember that project didn't tell me you needed my blood to finish it."

Shepherd says, smirking.

"We are serious, Shepherd, me, Sinfield, and Roy."

Hayden says, as his tone shifts.

"Sinfield..."

Shepherd pauses for a moment.

"We really need your help. We can't make any moves, but with you here as a distraction, it would work perfectly, Shepherd."

Hayden says.

"So you guys are still trying to defect from Arthur's sire line. Become stronger than him in the process."

Shepherd says.

"Yes, so it seems you remember that is amazing, Shepherd. I don't have to stress any more details."

Hayden says relieved.

"I don't believe your project will be successful, but I will do whatever I can to help for now. Help me first."

Shepherd says.

"Fine, I'll help you first, but don't include Ronin in this at all. Now, why did you really call me?"

"I turned someone into a kid. I didn't think it would work because he was dying but he lived."

Shepherd says.

"Oh god, is he still alive?"

Hayden asks.

"Currently, he is still alive. I don't know what to do."

Shepherd says.

"I'm on the way."

Hayden hangs up.

"You didn't sleep through that, did you?"

Shepherd asks.

"Of course I didn't."

I said, sitting up.

"What did you mean by turning me?Turning me into what exactly?"

I asked, confused at the thought.

"Vorkhans have the ability to convert other humans into vampires."

Shepherd says.

Staring at him for a moment.

"Impossible, you can't be a Vorkhan. This can't be, you are lying."

I say.

"Think about your situation. Your arm healed itself. Your senses are heightened. You are stronger than before. How has that come to be?"

"Why did it come to be this way?"

I ask Shepherd.

"Kid, I had to save you. I didn't want you to die. It's just that simple."

Shepherd says as he walks towards the door.

"Hayden should be here any minute now to examine you."

Shepherd says.

"Why do I need an examination?"

I ask.

"After transitioning, your body has become deformed."

Shepherd says.

"What are you talking about?"

I asked, confused and worried.

"See for yourself."

Shepherd says as he brings a mirror towards me.

Looking at my reflection, half of my face was covered in metal.

I begin to panic.

"Don't worry, Faron Hayden is already on his way here."

As he says that, someone knocks on the door.

Shepherd rushes to open the door.

A man with blue glasses and brown hair, wearing a suit, walked in.

Shaking Shepherd's hand.

"It's nice to see you after all this time. You haven't aged a bit."

Hayden says excited, smiling as he shakes Shepherd's hand.

"You too. Look, can you help him?"

Shepherd asks, pointing to me.

"Oh right sorry Shepherd, let's get to work."

Hayden says, walking towards me, he is carrying a suitcase.

He sits down on the table in front of me.

Hayden examined my face, turning my head to the right and turning left.

"It looks like his body is fighting the transition. We just need to complete it."

Hayden says, turning to Shepherd.

Shepherd nods.

"Do you have the equipment to do that here?"

Shepherd asks.

"Well, there are two things I can do. We can use magic or just a blood bag. Magic is the best option, seeing you both heal almost instantly. Go grab a bowl, Shepherd."

Hayden says, as Shepherd quickly goes to the sink, rinsing out a bowl.

"You're going to use blood magic on both of us?"

Shepherd asks, walking back after drying the bowl.

Hayden moves the table out of the way.

Pulling out a knife from his belt.

"Come here, Shepherd, we need to do this quickly or else he will have a seizure and die."

Hayden says, grabbing Shepherd's forearm.

"Shit, do what you got to do man."

Shepherd sighs, Hayden cuts Shepherd's wrist.

Hayden's hand pulsates.

Shepherd's arm shakes as Hayden's grip gets tighter.

The blood pours into the bowl that Shepherd holds, over his wound.

The cut opens wider as Hayden squeezes Shepherd's arm.

Filling the bowl all the way.

My vision gets blurry on one side of my face.

I feel weaker than I did before.

My face feels heavier, as well.

Then Shepherd leaned forward.

My lips find the edge of the bowl.

Swallowing as much blood as possible.

My body is beginning to find its strength.

"Looks like he's going to complete his transition."

Hayden says relieved.

"That's great, Hayden. I really appreciate your help."

Shepherd says, putting the bowl on the table.

"Now let's talk about that favor early. We need to head to Vorkhan headquarters, the hospital."

Hayden says.

"I'm coming to help you."

I said.

Hayden and Sinfield both looked at me confused.
