Chapter 28 Magician's Vengeance

Walking down the basement.

I see Laura tied and gagged to a chair.

Removing the towel around her mouth, she spits out blood.

"Who the hell are you, old man?"

Laura asks, exhausted.

"It's me Nathan."

I say, hovering my head under the only light in this dim basement.

"What the fuck happened to you?"

Laura asks, concerned.

"I have no time to explain this. Maybe the one and last time I save you. But you need to answer some questions first."

I said, as Laura raised her eyebrows.

Laura sighed.

"Are you wondering about the kid?"

Laura asks. I ripped her restraints off from the chair.

"Where is he, Laura?"

I ask.

"They came to the apartment looking for your uncle Nate, then they brought me here. When I first entered this place, I saw a young boy and a man in a red robe. He was talking to Axel. It looks like Axel gave him up."

Laura says as she rubs her wrist.

"You can find him down the street. He seemed to be performing some type of curse. Preparing to use the bodies of people who can't use any type of magic or energy."

"Is this man going to make an army? How do you know this Laura?"

Laura stands up.

"There are ark symbols around this pub that represent curses, I think that's what he plans to do. It's like he is drawing you out here. All the deaths you have caused over the past weeks, do you think the community is afraid of you? Nothing will stop them if they are willing to take action."

"I don't have time for this, Laura. I have to save that kid."

"So I have no goodbye, Nathan?"

"Remember what I said. Stay out of my way."

I walked back up the steps, exiting the pub.

Laura follows behind and she stops at the entrance.

Putting my hands in my pockets, I continued down the street.

Hearing cars, and people chatter.

Until I hear someone screaming.

"AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAA!"

Bumping into someone listening to music.

"Watch where you're going, jackass."

Ignoring him, I still inspect the streets.

"What the hell is wrong with you man?"

The screaming continues until I see it.

A tiny purple spirit, reaching out towards me.

With a pained expression, it continues to scream.

It flies through me, into the next person.

This time it stays, the man starts a seizure and he slams his body against the wall.

More screams echo around the block. I turned to see even more of those spirits.

"Everyone run! Now get out of here!"

Getting people's attention for one second.

Instead, people go to check on the man, but a new body begins to form around him.

Looking around, I try to find the source of the spirits.

They are all flying out of a building, I sprint towards it.

Running past confused and afraid people.

Kicking the door open of this building.

Descending into the darkness not knowing where I am.

A spirit flies past me going up.

"Impressive, so you're not only able to see them but you can manifest some power. Interesting, I just assumed that you were only a brute."

A man's voice echoes in the dark into the room.

Reaching the end of the steps, I was slammed against a wall.

A beast impales me with its arm.

The color of its skin is purple and it only has one eye. It's bright pink.

Its flesh has the texture of rubber.

"Argh!"

I groaned, coughing up blood.

Vines begin to restrain me.

"That was easier than I thought. You aren't putting up much of a fight are you? For someone who has been destroying the hierarchy of Ciphia alone, I don't see what all the fuss is about."

The man represents himself, he wears a red robe.

His long pointy ears stood outside of his hood.

"Where is Eric?"

"He is over there in the corner."

The man points to him. Eric is tied up and unconscious.

"If you are wondering why I'm doing it to protect everyone, you have both become uncontrollable even to Ohme standards. It's truly sad even if I wouldn't touch Ohme, but someone wants you dead, so I'll do whatever it takes to get you, even if that means tearing this damn city apart. Because I've been waiting to release my wraith upon this damn place a long time. They have shunned and murdered my kind. I see you in there, Thorne, I will have my revenge!"

The man stares at me as his eyes emit pure energy.

"Kill him now, that man is a threat! I WANT HIM DEAD, NATHAN!"

Thorne shouts, as energy pulsates through my veins.

I roar as purple electricity shreds the vines.

"GRAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAA!!!"

The beast blasts a huge beam from the beast's one eye.

Moaning in pain.

I blocked my face with my forearm.

Burning through my shirt and arm.

"This is where I take my leave. Save the boy if you can. While the city is torn apart, you're blamed."

The man says as he stands and stares at me.

Harnessing the power Thorne has granted me, I release the energy loose.

Blasting the beast away, he crashes into the wall across the room.

Hearing thuds, the beast fell down the steps and through the ceiling.

The man waves as the vines cover him swiftly. They rise up quickly from the ground.

I snarl as I begin to shift.

The monsters crowded the building.

They surround me by blasting their beams, all at once.

As they burn, my body repairs itself simultaneously while I shift into my beast form.

My white fur covers my hands and they grow bigger with sharp claws.

Gripping the floor with my claws, I lunged myself into the beast in front of me.

Biting its head, ripping it off and spitting it out.

The purple electricity clouds me once again.

I slash through the beasts, creating a wave of electricity.

Blood is splattered as I continue to slaughter them, with Thorne's magic.

"Find him!"

Thorne's voice echoes through my head, enraged.

The building shakes as it starts to collapse.

Making my way towards Eric.

Creating a path while corpses leave the trail behind me.

Pulling the restraints off, I carried Eric.

Holding him over my shoulder, I continued to climb out of the building.

The beasts are buried underneath the remains of the building.

Panting, I try to catch my breath as I hear sirens in the distance.

"The spirits and beast seem to have dwelled. He has used his reserves to escape. People with a lot of power like that have a resource to rely on, especially when it comes to cursing magic. But his kind isn't bound by those laws of nature. If he is who I think he is, he is a threat to all of Ciphia."

Thorne said.

"I'm bringing Eric back. That was the only part of the deal, Thorne."

I said, hearing Thorne chuckle.

The sounds of people's cries ring through my ears as I flee from the scene.
