Chapter 35 Eric's Failure

Driving the car to the curb.

Staring at the apartment building at the end of the street.

As the lights shine bright, in the darkness of midnight.

The snow covers the streets, footprints can be seen all on the sidewalks.

"Eric has become too cocky to be on the field, Nathan."

Thorne speaks as her voice rings through my head.

"I told you before, didn't I? I prefer to work alone. I get the job done faster."

I said, getting out of the car.

"Nathan, while you get the job done, I want it done without noise. You're going to draw attention that I don't want."

"It doesn't matter, I'll do whatever it takes to see my family again."

Snowflakes fell on my shoulder as I approached the apartment building.

"Don't worry Nathan, your time of serving has almost come to an end. Two more years, Nathan."

Getting irritated, I opened the door, slamming it against the wall.

As the people in front of me get frightened.

"Ciphia is afraid of waiting for Canix to enforce some rules and help them rebuild. But they forgot that it was a law enforcement job. This town has been relying on help from the supernatural for so long. The only resource they have left is Arthur. They just don't see that yet. I can't wait to destroy him. I've been yearning for the day."

"Thorne, have you ever had someone else to talk to?"

I ask.

"That was quite rude, I thought mutts didn't speak."

Scoffing, I walk up the stairs.

"It must be quite infuriating having me on your head quite literally all the time. Not being able to hide your thoughts from me. It's exhilarating to see your thoughts. I love it when you think about killing someone. I've learned some new things from you, Nathan."

"Well, you could learn something else tonight."

I say, as I continue examining my environment.

"We will see about that, Nathan."

Walking up the next flight of stairs.

"I have finally reached my destination, Thorne. I have to focus and do my job."

I said, growing irritated.

"That's not what you really wanted to say, is it?"

Thorne. I walked up to the door.

"No it isn't."

Knocking on the door.

I heard someone's footsteps approaching.

A familiar face opens the door cautiously.

He inspects his surroundings, barely stepping outside.

"How may I help you?"

Jericho asks, as he looks at my hands and clothes.

"Whose blood is that?"

Jericho asks, as I look at myself.

"Oh I forgot about that."

Scratching at the bloodstains on my jacket.

I chuckle.

"Are you sober?"

I ask.

"Yeah, I had to clean myself up. How do you know that?"

Jericho asks, confused.

Punching Jericho in the face, I knocked him down.

He grunts.

Walking to the door, I closed it behind me.

"Now you know why I am here, don't you?"

I ask.

Jericho stands up, wiping his nose.

"Damnit you broke my nose!"

Jericho shouts.

"Who the hell are you?"

"It's me, Nathan."

"Fuck Nathan, I thought you were a private investigator or a cop."

"I'm just a private investigator. Now you need to answer some serious questions, or else I'll break your nose again."

"If you think I can be subdued so easily while I'm sober, you have got another problem coming your way. Now, if you asked politely, I would've answered your questions. But I don't mind kicking your ass right here now."

Jericho says as he stands up, wiping his nose.

Jericho punched me in the knee.

"Grah!"

Grunting, I sidekick him.

He swiftly dodges.

Grabbing my leg, he lifts me, slamming me into the table.

I grunt.

"Did you forget? I'm Vorkhan, I'm also a rogue."

Jericho emits energy from his hands as he stands above.

His hands wrap around my neck as he shocks me.

"GRAAAAA!!!!!!!!!"

Grabbing, I struggle as he chokes me.

"Who sent you Nathan, huh? I want to know why you're here."

Jericho continues to choke me.

Crushing his wrist, he pulls back as he grunts.

I held his wrist as tight as possible.

Baring his fangs as he groans in pain.

Jericho bites into my shoulder.

"Grrrra!"

I snarl.

Standing, I slammed Jericho into the wall.

He tightens his grip on my shoulder.

Slamming him to the floor.

He releases, knocking the wind out of him.

Jericho laughs as my blood spills out his mouth.

"You taste terrible, Nathan, I haven't had a meal in quite a while."

"I was never meant to be bitten, but you, however."

I say.

Jericho punches me.

Standing above him, I threw a stronger punch.

Jericho pushes me off.

But I stand above pushing him back down.

Holding him down, I began choking him.

"You think you can win?"

Jericho asks as he begins to laugh.

Jericho grunts as he is spitting out a tooth.

I punched him again.

"Where is your family? Did you ever find them?"

Stopping for a moment, glaring at Jericho.

"See, Nathan, didn't he warn you? The agent told you guys not to go, but you went anyway and died in the process. It's been a whole year since I've heard anything from you guys. But you have been on a killing spree, huh?"

"I mean look at you, you look like and smell like shit, Nathan."

Jericho punches me, staggering.

He takes control, gaining the upper hand.

Pushing me off, he stood up as quickly as possible.

Jericho then counters my next attack by kicking across the room.

Jericho tackles me into the kitchen, grabbing a knife.

He stabs me but I catch it with my hand.

Jericho imbues electricity on the knife, shocking me.

"Agghhhh!!"

I moan, in pain as the electricity burns me.

"You know I was always afraid of you, but not anymore. I bet your family is practically extinct, right?"

Jericho says a while.

Growling, I shoved him off me, slashing at him.

Jericho evades my attack.

He then punched me in the neck.

I fell down coughing.

"It feels good to be in control. I forgot how strong I was."

Jericho walks up to me as he knees me in the face.

"It doesn't matter how strong you are."

I say.

Standing up, I uppercut him with an elbow as he fell back.

Jericho sprints at me.

I grabbed his shirt, threw him on the wall.

Punching Jericho, he stumbles onto the wall.

Punching him again, I shoved him completely inside the wall.

Grabbing his shirt, I pulled him back in.

"Agh!"

Putting in a headlock.

He struggles gasping for air.

"Yes, Nathan finished him!"

Thorne shouts.

"Stop right there!"

Someone walked into the apartment.
