Chapter 34 Bloody Appetite

We walked in the snow.

Towards the church, stopping near the entrance.

A guard sits next to the door.

Listening to their prayers, as they sing.

"Are we going to go in?"

Eric asks.

Walking towards the door.

The guard holds his hand out.

"Hey, you can't enter during this time of the day. It's a private meeting."

He says he is dressed in black robes.

He had a fresh low hair cut.

"You seem properly groomed for taking care of a ton of kids."

Eric says.

"Who do you think you are talking to?"

The guard asked.

"A dead man."

Eric throws a dagger at the man.

The man holds his throat.

As blood splatters on his clothes, he eventually paints the snow red.

His body fell.

I opened the door and walked in.

The priest turned towards me.

The priest's skin is dark brown. He has no hair.

His beard is trimmed and cut, and he wears a cassock.

"Who are you and what do you want with us?"

The priest asked.

The smell of blood hits me.

That's when I realized the scent was coming from the bottom of Eric's shoe.

He stepped into it on purpose.

He is trying to provoke me.

"I'm here for someone, a child."

I say.

"What is the child's name?"

The priest asked.

"Catherine."

I said, hearing someone gasp in the back.

The kid's breathing is also off too.

"And what is your name?"

The priest asked.

I looked at him, confused.

"That isn't important."

The priest smirks.

"You are a stubborn one. I wish I could help you, but we are praying."

I growled, becoming irritated.

"This conversation is going nowhere. I know you have her here!"

I said, grabbing the priest by his collar.

"Where the hell is the child?"

I shouted, asking him.

A light as bright as the sun blinds me.

Pushing me back across the church.

Standing up, I wiped off my suit.

Eric laughs at the priest.

His laughs were so loud they began to echo around the church.

"That won't hurt him, you just made him even more angry."

Eric says while he gets relaxed in the seat he has chosen.

"This is not a trafficking facility, this is a shelter for the homeless and lost individuals who seek God for help."

The priest said, trying to reach out to me, holding out his hand.

I roared, sprinting at the priest.

The priest casts another spell, the light blinds me slowly.

Heat burns me all around like a trap encloses me. I fell down to my knees.

"Arggh!!!"

I groan in pain.

"You're a Vorkhan, aren't you? No worry, I'll do this as long as it takes to hold you off."

The priest says as he applies more pressure using the sphere.

Hearing the other members from earlier chanting as they gather around to create a barrier.

Standing up, I stretched it, I began punching it as it cracked.

"Humph!"

The priest begins to struggle, losing control of the sphere.

The priest lets me out, as he releases his grip on it.

As the sphere disappeared, the priest was prepped. He blasts a wave of energy towards me.

Burning my energy peels even more off my skin.

"GRAAAA!!!"

Sprinting into the blast head on, I grabbed the priest's arm.

Punching him in the face and knocking him off his feet.

The priest holds his jaw as he looks up to his pupils.

"Everyone protects the children! Don't worry about me!"

I stand over the Priest punching him in the gut, cutting him off before he finishes talking.

Grabbing him by his neck, I threw him against the wall across the church.

Knocking the priest unconscious.

Walking up the barrier that protects the church members as they chant.

"Destroy that barrier Nathan, show them your power!"

Thorne shouts as I shove my hand into the barrier.

Screaming in agony.

"GRAAAAAAAAAAAA!!!!!!!!!!!!"

My arm burns but it rapidly heals at the same time.

My arm grows long enough to grab one of the chanters.

I choke as my claws grow around her neck. I squeeze digging inside her throat with my finger tips.

The rest of my body grows as I stand over her.

Squeezing her neck, I ripped her head off.

Using my other claw, I tear down the barrier, shattering it like glass.

They all lost focus, screaming in fear, they ran to grab one of the kids.

I bit down on his shoulder and chewed.

Ripping off his arm and swallowing it.

Eric walks further, and I notice the girl.

Following Eric into the hallway after devouring the pupils of the priest.

Blood drips from the jaw.

Staring at her I charge at her.

"She's mine! Go clear the area."

Eric says, I snarl.

Going down the hallway.

Growling as I turned into the next room filled with children.

I reached for something more to eat.

"Dale, don't do this! You're better than that. I don't know what they did to you there, but I can help you."

Looking at the girl I just grabbed.

I drop her and she falls down crawling under the bed.

Slowly turning to meet this man's gaze.

"Don't listen to him, Nathan!"

Thorne shouts.

I snarl as the man holds his hands out.

He has long blonde hair, and he is wearing a long sleeved black shirt.

His boots are covered in snow.

"You're not Dale, but I can help I was there, remember me? I helped you guys fight back, it's me Shepherd."

"Nathan, I want him dead. I will not ask again."

Thorne says he is getting irritated.

Turning away from him for a moment.

Growling, I roar, at Shepherd.

His skin hardens as he punches me.

Staggering me with his speed and power.

"Sorry, old friend, we have to do this the hard way."

Shepherd attempts to tackle.

I slammed both my fists down on top of his back, lifting him, throwing him over the wall.

"Run, everybody!"

Shepherd shouts, as I slash through his hardened skin.

He grunts, looking at his chest.

"What the hell are you?"

Shepherd asks, he stands as blood drips down his cheek.

Snarling, he disappears from my sight.

"Return to base."

Thorne's voice echoes through my head.
