Customization

"HUH!!" Emma's eyes widened in shock as she listened to the response.

She did not expect that answer. At most, she expected a somewhat dulled-down version of her mother's power, but not an exact copy of it.

The reason she thought like this was mostly due to the novels she had read as they depicted more of a different situation. In most of these 'godlike' protagonists' stories, they had to either fight for it or earn them through their experiences in life. Mostly accompanied by a 'system' that would reward them after achieving a specific goal. Though of course, there were stories where the MC would already be very overpowered and would often jump between fictional settings. More specifically, anime worlds. But those stories never felt real.

The characters did have personalities but they often felt generic. There wasn't really anything that would make you feel connected to those characters, but instead, they were a carbon copy of each other. And it didn't help that those stories had a severe lack of character development in them. The main character was already OP and was the perfect human being that could do nothing wrong. Everything would come easy to them even if it was their first time doing such a thing. The plot was also typically a bit flakey as it would jump from anime to anime world where the problems would instantly be solved. Yes, it made sense but it had no emotional stakes making it a bore to read.

That's what she would say, but she herself had to admit that she liked those fanfics. It was more like a guilty pleasure to her, as she would actively seek them just to get addicted to reading them for hours at a time. It was the perfect type of story to read after a stressful day. I mean, who wouldn't want to imagine themselves saving the day at each possible turn.

Though although rare, there were also a ton of amazing fanfics that would make her heart flutter while reading them. Even with overpowered MC's, the writers would hook her by tampering with the emotional aspect of the story. For example, in one of the stories she had read, the protagonist had various traumatic experiences where she would one by one overcome and accept them so she wouldn't lose control of her powers. Seeing the constant battle between her trying to learn about herself and the risk of falling to the dark side was mesmerising to read. Those stories would be the most fun to read.

Snapping out of her thoughts, Emma started asking questions. "If we're gods, why do we look like humans then?"

In most fictional settings, the god/goddess would either be a formless being or the prettiest person in the multiverse. But the state of the matter, that wasn't true here. Of course, that wasn't an insult to her mother. She's quite the beauty. But even on earth, some people were prettier than her.

"I chose this form as I am the most comfortable with it. While for you," She points at her daughter before continuing "it was probably a subconscious thought"

"Though if you so desire to, you can always change It. After all, you are no longer restrained upon a mortal body and are now just a free spirit."

"Well, I guess that makes sense. So how do I do that?" Emma asked, eyes sparkling with curiosity.

"For me, I thought about what I wanted to change and Poof, it would happen. But you will probably require a different method."

"Oh?" Emma exclaimed as she waited for her mother to continue.

"Hmmm. How about you think about the easiest way to customize yourself and then try to make it a reality. That should give you a good baseline." Rea suggested

"Alright, Lemme try," Emma said as she lifted her legs and crossed them onto the sofa.

Like the gamer she was, the first thing that crossed her mind was a game-like system that would allow you to customize yourself. Something like the sims but without the DLC's. The "Avatar" would be on the left while all the customization options would be on the right.

Opening her eyes, the image she imagined was right in front of her. A hologram of a young lady, 170CM in height, showed itself. She had the same clothes she wore before dying, with the same hairstyles and accessories. Her eyes were also still violet in colour. On the right, every single detail about her body was shown, including the size of her breasts. Although yes, it was a bit on the flatter side with it being a B-Cup, she was still happy with it and preferred it that way.

"Mom, can you see this?" Emma asked giddily while looking at her mother behind the hologram.

"Yes, I can. It is surprisingly detailed. Is there anything you want to change?" Rea asked with a slight smile. Looking at her daughter having fun was always something that brought a smile to her face.

"Hmmm…. I would like to change my hair colour. Black just looks too plain." Scrolling through the list of customization, she managed to find the option that would allow her to change her hair colour.

Clicking it, a colour wheel popped up with all the colours from the visible light spectrum. Sliding her hand around, she managed to find the colour she was looking for. After confirming her choice, her body's hair changed from the dark black it was before to a cumin brown colour.

"Soo… How do I look?" Emma removed her hairpin and shook it to show her mother.

"As good as always," Rea responded.

"Thank you," A slight blush formed on her cheeks as she looked at the floor. But the embarrassment was quickly forgotten as another question popped into her mind. "Umm, I have a couple of questions to ask."

"Go ahead, we have all the time in the world" And so Emma asked away. Her questions were mostly about the formation of the earth and the existence of gods.

Although she didn't believe in it, she was still curious about their existence and how humans started to believe in them. She also had many questions about some of the various unanswered questions about the origin of the planet and if there are any Extra-terrestrial life out there.

Finally, after what seemed like hours, Emma exhausted her catalogues of questions. Letting out a sigh, she relaxed on her chair and caught her breath. Though she didn't need to as there was no air to breathe in the first place.

Throughout the conversation, she noticed that she was capturing and processing information faster than when she was a human. Everything her mother said would instantly be remembered and wouldn't need any repeating even though the quantity of info was large. It was a huge plus for her as that also indicated that she would have great memory which is always good.

While she was thinking, she was suddenly brought back to reality as her mother asked a strange question.

"So, what are you going to do now?"

"What do you mean?" Confused by the suddenness of the query, Emma tried probing about what she meant.

"Well, what do you say you create your own universe?" Her grin widened as she asked the question. Her gaze focused on her daughter as she waited for a response.

But how could Emma refuse such a proposal? The offer was one she could ever dream of taking, but there was one glaring issue. She didn't know jack shit about worldbuilding. Although yes, she had a general idea after all the books she read, but she was still a novice in the area. She's a musician, not a writer after all.

"OF COURSE" she replied with enthusiasm. But her voice suddenly lowered down a few octaves as she continued "But I don't know how to world build though..." She stared at the ground with embarrassment as she fidgeted with her fingers.

Hearing the predicament her daughter was in, she smiled as she thought of a plan. "Well, I could directly implant my knowledge onto your mind…"

"REALLY!" Emma's face lit up in joy as she quickly looked at her. But that face quickly twisted into fear as she noticed the sinister smile on her face. This could only mean bad news.

"BUT, that wouldn't be fun now, would it?" Rea finished.

Emma left out a long sigh before speaking, "You never change, do you now?"

On earth, Rea would often challenge herself and purposely make things harder on herself for fun. For instance, she never learnt how to cook with the power of the internet and would instead experiment with the ingredients to find the right combo. It would be alright if it wasn't for the horrid combo's she would sometimes make. She swore that she saw Angels and someone beckoning to her before miraculously waking up. I guess she now knew how she always survived those life-threatening moments.

Although she never understood why her mother would do things the hard way, she would never judge her as she always seemed to be having fun. And who was she to trample upon a family members joy?

"So, when does the fun part come into play?"

Rea clapped her hand before speaking. "Great question! So I thought that to assist you on your worldbuilding endeavours, how about I give you your own little helper."

"A little helper?" She asked with a questioning tone. So far, she wasn't against Rea's Idea as it would be more fun to learn than to just know everything.

"Mm-hmm." Rea nodded.

"But, I won't be creating them."

"What do you mean?"

Rea's eyes started glowing a golden hue as she looked at the girl in front of her. A large smile was plastered on her face as she explained her plan.

"I'll just be giving them the knowledge on creating worlds. You will be creating them. From their personality to their looks, everything will be on your hands. Think of it as a trial.

Today, you will be creating life."
