Chapter 014: Have we met somewhere before?

Late night.

An elder and a young one from the Taylor Family sat in a car and drove into the Thompson County guest house.

Sitting next to Owen Taylor, Lily Taylor placed both her hands in front, her posture extremely high.

"Second Grandfather, their person in charge suddenly said they want to meet us. What's the matter?"

"I'm not sure."

Owen Taylor was also puzzled, receiving a phone call in the middle of the night.

What he could think of was that something unexpected happened to the two students.

The treatment in the team was not keeping up, and they still had to be called for a trip in the end.

*

In front of the guest house iron gate.

A tall, straight figure stood upright, even with a casual stance, it still did not hide the evil elegance from his body.

The narrow, black eyes were slightly narrowed, and under the night light, the deep and profound facial features were particularly three-dimensional.

The faint shadow slanting on his face outlined a cold curve.

The camouflage on his body made his abstinence aura more intense, looking somewhat both righteous and evil!

The Maybach stopped.

Ethan Coates, who stood behind the iron gate, threw away the cigarette butt in his mouth, exhaled a breath, and crushed the cigarette butt with his heel.

"Oh, people are coming."

The car stopped, and an elder and a young one along with an assistant came out.

Ethan Coates saw Lily Taylor and couldn't help but click his tongue, "She's a beauty."

Lily Taylor and the others saw the two standing there, frowning slightly, and looking at Owen Taylor sideways.

"Why is it him?"

"Second Grandfather knows him?"

Owen Taylor nodded, "Len Hawthorne from the Forty-Nine City's Hawthorne Family."

"Hawthorne Family."

"I heard he's a nemesis."

"Nemesis," someone labeled as a nemesis would be at a disadvantage among the large families.

"The rumor from the Forty-Nine City is about him."

Lily Taylor understood.

It turned out that the rumor of people dying in a row after receiving his betrothal gift in the Forty-Nine City's Hawthorne Family was about him.

Because the evidence was right in front of their eyes, people had to believe it.

Rumor had it that the Hawthorne Family wanted to use Fifth Young Master Hawthorne for marriage alliance, but as soon as the betrothal gift was given, the woman suddenly died mysteriously.

Later, after further investigation, no suspicious person was found involved.

Half a year later, the Hawthorne Family let someone betrothal gift for another family's Young Miss, but as a result, as soon as the betrothal gift arrived at the woman's house, she died mysteriously again within seven days.

The subsequent rumors were even more outrageous.

There was a betrothal gift given to a man, and the man died even more miserably.

Anyway, the betrothal gift from Fifth Young Master Hawthorne's hands, regardless of men or women, young or old, bankruptcy in three days and death in seven days were guaranteed.

It was quite bizarre!

*

Len Hawthorne stepped forward and looked up and down at the elder and young one.

"The Taylor Family from Sheffield City?"

"It's indeed the Taylor Family."

"It must be Second Master Taylor who travels outside," Len Hawthorne didn't bother talking to them more, "You Taylor Family temporarily stay away from Thompson County."

He issued the order directly.

Lily Taylor was first amazed by this man's appearance, but when she heard his words, she felt a sudden disgust.

Her expression sank, "What is it, is there something in this place that the Taylor Family can't touch?"

Len Hawthorne's eyes were deep and secluded, "Miss Taylor, you've crossed the line."

"We need a reason."

"Are you sure you want a reason from me?" Len Hawthorne smirked sinisterly, "With the Taylor Family's reach, Second Master Taylor must have heard about my rumor in the Forty-Nine City."

Len didn't feel shameful about the evil star rumors but took pride in it.

"You..."

Lily Taylor and Owen Taylor's faces changed dramatically.

Owen Taylor stopped Lily Taylor, "Fifth Young Master Hawthorne, we can leave, but there must be an explanation for this."

"Does disliking you count?"

"You're playing with us..." Lily Taylor was extremely angry.

"Leave tonight. Our people will take full control here. If anyone dares to do something they shouldn't, we will use forceful eviction."

Ethan Coates stepped forward: "Elder Taylor, Miss Taylor, please."

Lily Taylor coldly looked at Len Hawthorne and followed Owen Taylor away in anger.

Ethan Coates turned his head and gave a thumbs up to Len Hawthorne.

Len Hawthorne took out a packet of Zhonghua cigarettes from his pocket, took one and lit it up.

"The Taylor Family will start trouble sooner or later. It's safer to kick them out."

"It's not really because you found out what they did to the little girl in the county hospital?" Ethan Coates put his hand on Len's shoulder and laughed, "I say, your skin is getting thicker and thicker. If these two are unwilling to go, are you really going to betrothal gift the old man? The last time that man..."

"Get lost," Len Hawthorne shuddered at the thought of betrothal to a man.

Would he have taken that step if the situation weren't special?

Shaking off the nightmare, Len Hawthorne stepped out the door.

"Young Master Hawthorne, where are you going?"

"For a walk."

"A late-night walk, how leisurely."

"You keep an eye on them, make sure they leave the county town."

Ethan Coates cursed a few times, then turned to arrange for some people to follow him and keep an eye on the Old and Young Taylor.

*

"Chloe, is it okay to go to school today?"

Yvette Foster, who had finished washing up in the bathroom, looked at Chloe Stephens putting on her backpack and bending over to prepare breakfast for Fred Foster.

Fred suggested, "Why not ask the school for a leave of absence first?"

Chloe ran out last night all of a sudden, Yvette knew that Chloe must have been wronged in the Foster Family, so she didn't drive her back.

"No need, I'm going first."

Chloe carried her bag and left the hospital.

On the roadside, the man stood straight under the tree in his camouflage from yesterday.

Passing girls frequently looked back, some even wanting to take photos. But one glance from the man scared them nearly to the point of dropping their mobile phones.

Chloe still went over and handed him the mobile phone she was carrying.

"You don't want it?"

Len Hawthorne smiled and looked down at her.

"No need."

"I said I wouldn't take back what I gave away. If you don't want it, just throw it away. My car is over there, let's go, I'll take you to school."

Chloe put the mobile phone back in her backpack and got in the car.

Sitting in the car, she took a brief look.

The man's hand holding the steering wheel was slender, each knuckle just the right length.

"Regarding your grandfather's incident, do you need any help?"

"He'll be discharged tomorrow."

"Alright, I'll come to pick you up tomorrow."

Chloe frowned slightly, they didn't seem to be that familiar with each other.

Len Hawthorne saw the girl in the rearview mirror, "Have we met somewhere before?"

Chloe stared at him from behind, recalling the people she had known in the past.

No impression.

But the feeling he gave her was a bit strange.

*

The incident on Saturday left a deep impression on the whole class, and they could not forget it even if they wanted to. The psychological counseling had no effect.

Marcella Thomas and a few others had taken a leave of absence at home and did not attend, thus escaping by chance.

Chloe walked into the classroom and instantly attracted everyone's attention.

Everyone thought at the same time.

How come this idiot didn't die in that accident?

Marcella and a few others had been severely beaten and looked at Chloe with resentment, like an enemy.

It was all Chloe's fault that they were given demerits and stained with this blemish.

That day was an accident.

Just wait.

Chloe will pay the price eventually.

Headteacher Bianca Hunter had been in poor mental health since the incident.

She had a headache and was losing hair over the compensation issues of the two students.

Because of this, she had even less energy to care about what the students in the class were doing.

During break time, Shella Norton followed Marcella Thomas and a few others to the corner of the hallway.

"Cheat Chloe out after school. She likes Oliver Gordon, doesn't she? Marcella, let's trick her to the riverside. She turned pale at the sight of water during the swimming class last time, she must be afraid of water."

Marcella Thomas said, "Shella, you call her over."

Shella Norton sneered coldly, "Alright."

They had been given demerits, this idiot shouldn't get away with it either.

*

"Chloe," Shella Norton stood in front of Chloe, "We were wrong about what happened last time, and we can apologize to you this time. We know you like Oliver Gordon, so we've specially arranged an opportunity for you as a gesture of our sincerity in apologizing. After school, you come with me."

Although it was supposed to be an apology, the tone was still contemptuous and dismissive.

Chloe didn't even give her a glance.

Shella Norton was slightly annoyed, "Chloe, did you hear me?"

Chloe glanced at her faintly, and Shella Norton's mood worsened, being ignored and feeling inexplicably humiliated and angry.

Just as she was about to speak, the class bell rang.

"Remember, walk together after school."

She left the words and returned to her seat.
