Unofficially Official

I didn't know what my heart was doing to me; I woke up the next morning with some major butterflies in my stomach, which was super unlikely for me. Should I tell this girl my true feelings? I mean, she already hates my guts as it is.

Throughout the day, I refused to talk to the damn nerd, my palms were insanely clammy, and I couldn't focus through any of my classes. Those butterflies in my gut would not go away, no matter how hard I tried to make them. Was I really that nervous about what I was about to do after the day was done?

Come on, JJ, fake it 'til you make it.

Yeah, I said it. I called myself "JJ." Why fight it anymore?

Next thing I know, I was quietly humming to myself to try and keep the nervous feeling hidden away from her.

WHAT THE HELL IS WRONG WITH ME?!?

Suddenly, she spotted me getting all fidgety and began walking towards me. Well, I'm fucked.

"What's the matter, JJ?" Hera said with a smile that she tried to hide. But I could tell it wasn't her usual evil smile, but it was sort of a caring smile; one I'd never seen before. "It's not like you to get all nervous like that."

"I-it's nothing, Hera," I replied, trying to cover it up.

She rolled her eyes. "Okay..." she said sarcastically.

FUCK!! She was onto me!

When that final bell rang, I tried to sprint to my car without Hera trying to catch me.

Unfortunately, my attempt failed as the nerd had found me as I was trying to lock the door.

She knocked on the passenger side window of my car, saying: "Can you let me in?"

Dammit! It looks like I had no choice than to let this girl into my car... So much for trying to hide my feelings.

"Think you can drive me home?" she asked. "My parents are still at work; they called me and said that their jobs were keeping them for overtime."

I didn't want to make Hera mad for the umpteenth time. "I-I can do that," I quickly answered.

And after Hera climbed into the passenger side of my beautiful car, I backed out of the school's parking lot and got on the road.

All this nervousness was clogging my arteries and my veins; it was unbearable. It was time for me to tell this girl how I really felt about her.

I could sense the nervous aura coming from JJ. This isn't like him. What the hell would he be nervous for?

Fortunately, I wouldn't wait long to find out what exactly was getting him all apprehensive and skittish.

"Hera, I wanna tell you something..." JJ said as soon as we were far away from the school building.

"Oh no, what did you do this time?" I sighed while getting out of his car; the way his voice was shaking probably meant it was pretty bad.

He barely made eye contact with me as he continued. "Don't laugh, okay? And don't think I'm joking, cuz I'm not." He took a deep breath. "I need to be mature and admit this to you, and myself. Lately, I've been... seeing you."

I shook my head. "Duh, you have, right? Dude, what's going on with you?"

He shrugged. "No shit, Sherlock. That's not what I meant. I've been seeing you differently. Like in a way that makes me think about you before I go to sleep, or makes me wonder what kind of music you like. I made a playlist for you last night, and I don't even know why." He shrugged again.

I just stared at him. His face was red. Was this moron saying he was into me? Seriously?

"So you have a crush on me?" I asked. "If this is a prank, I'm sending my foot 6 inches up your ass—"

"It's not a prank!" he countered. "Geez, what's wrong with you?"

"Woah! Are you sure? Did you hit your head?" I asked, trying to grab his face.

"No!" He swatted me away before sighing. "Y'know what, this was a mistake. Forget it, okay?"

"Wait!" I said in-between laughs. "I'm just messing with you." I changed my tone to a serious one as I said: "Why, though? Why do you like me? Did you forget about the cow dick?"

"I dunno." JJ answered. "Trust me, you're the last person on Earth I wanna feel this way about."

"Um, rude," I replied.

"But I do. And I really can't stop it," JJ continued. "So if you don't feel the same, then I'll just go."

He hung his head which made me feel something in my heart. Dammit JJ, getting into my heart like a handsome parasite...

"Hold on, I never said that," I said, grabbing the sleeve of his rather nice yellow hoodie. Suits him.

"Really?"

I nodded. "But–"

"Great. Always a catch with you, huh?" He chuckled.

"You'll have to prove it."

JJ's smile slowly dropped. "How? Why are you making me prove myself to you again? It's insulting at this point," he whined.

I stared at him before clearing my throat. "You know why, JJ." I told him. "After all of your bullying and tormenting over the years, how am I supposed to open my heart to you? I'm sorry but I can't just take your word for it."

He nodded slowly. "You're right. Well, how can I start?"

I smiled. "Give me your hoodie."

JJ was a bit stunned at what I had just said. "Wait... My hoodie?" he repeated. "That's it? I thought it was going to be something way worse."

"If you want, I could take you to another restaurant—"

"No!" he shouted as I cackled.

"Okay, then give me your hoodie, and I'll count it as a start."

He shrugged and peeled it off, offering it to me. I quickly tossed it over myself, smiling inwardly about how big and cozy it was, but I refused to show the cocky bastard.

"Good job." I glanced around awkwardly, sticking my hands into the pockets.

He cleared his throat. "How about...we go on a date Sunday night?" he asked. "I'll take you anywhere you want." He smiled, scratching his arm. "How about that new restaurant that just recently opened downtown?"

"You mean Howdy-Hoe's Western Grill and Bar?" I asked. "I heard it's supposed to be good, plus, it's got a bunch of TVs and... seats and stuff."

"Exactly," JJ replied.

I shrugged, turning on my heels. "You're paying," I said as I walked away.

JJ rolled his eyes. "Fine with me," he said before getting into his car. And as he started the loud ass engine, he shouted, "Peace out!" and began driving home.

Holy fuck! That handsome asshole just confessed to me!

Let's just say I'm both lucky and unlucky. Lucky because I just had one of the most handsome guys in the school confess to me; unlucky because I'm gonna have an ex-bully as a boyfriend. That would not look good on my record.

Oh my goodness! I can't believe I actually confessed to that cute ass dweeb! And honestly, I couldn't be any happier!

I woke up with a fuzzy head and a pounding heart, one that continued to pound throughout the morning as I got ready for school. I barely ate my omelet, I was too focused on which side I should brush my hair. Was Hera a right or left kinda girl? Maybe right in the middle? That made no sense.

After I slipped on my outfit for the day, I decided to brush and comb my hair to the right, in hopes that Hera would like my new do.

Hmph. Not bad for a first try, I thought as I looked at myself in the mirror.

"Mom! Dad! I'm off to school!" I yelled to my parents, who were probably already awake. And I slipped out the front door and was FINALLY on my way to school again!
