Chapter 23: I Want To Kill Him

Ryan stared at the man, who he had learned from extensive prior research was named Christopher, after he left the bakery in a seething rush.

Samantha had helped the elderly owner of the bakery down from the counter, and the two of them shared an embrace.

Just then, his earpiece rang and he answered the call from his boss.

“You sent a message?” Came Richard’s hard voice through his ear. Ryan was loath to be the one to tell him about the situation that had occurred.

“Something happened at the bakery,” he said first.

He heard shuffling from the other end of the line, and then Richard’s voice sounded again. “Is she alright?”

“She’s fine,” Ryan said with a nod mostly to himself. “But there was an incident with one of the frequent customers. A man by the name of Christopher Grant has been coming every day, religiously, at the same time. He often sits at the counter nearest to where Samantha is stationed.”
