Chapter 27: Malota!

The King opened his mouth, “If traitors they are, then traitors they shall be charged as!”

“My King!” Malota’s voice rushed out from the line of troupe members gathered, “Surely you cannot believe these words! My troupe and I have been practicing tirelessly to perform for you and have the chance to prove our innocence!”

Malota continued, “My troupe knows nothing of herbs to concoct such a diabolical thing! We—”

“Silence!” A slap ran out, and Malota’s face was snapped to the side as Lois’s large hand came down upon her face. “The King had not given you leave to speak, and yet you dishonor him by calling him a liar!”

“I do not!” Malota seethed, “If there is to be punishment then I simply request a dutiful judge and jury!” Malota turned to the King then, “We are not members of your kingdom and therefore do not fall beneath the laws that you govern with, you must treat us according to the agreement settled by—“
