His Light!

"Tell me, what do you have in mind?" Eva asked with enthusiasm.

"I don't know. Why don't you tell?" Isabel replied. "Why don't you take the lead today and I'll follow where ever you take me."

"Let's see. What should we do first? Should we go eat first or go look for something interesting in the old market?" She said, walking as she was holding her hands, fingers crossed behind her back. "Oh, we should go to the lake first. I've heard there's a festival held for a few days. It'll be fun."

"Aye, aye, captain," Isabell replied.

"But first I have to deliver a message to someone, so we'll have to take a detour," Eva said.

"Come on, I said no work today," Isabel replied in an annoying tone. "Can't it wait till tomorrow?"

"It's your brother's order," Eva said as she stopped near a stall and bought some wooden straws and then started walking again and Isabel kept following. "I can't do anything about it and it won't take much longer, anyway. We'll just go there, deliver the message, and didn't you just say you'll follow me anywhere?"

"Yeah, but I didn't mean that I'll have to follow you doing boring work," Isabel replied frustratingly.

"That's how it is for us, Bell. Not everyone has a King as their brother. We have to do our job. How small or meaningless it may be." She replied, grinning. "Most of the time, anyway."

"What do you mean? It's not my fault that my so-called squad is always on standby." Isabel said annoyingly, looking at her. "I mean, I want to go out and have fun, but what could happen in the capital or anywhere besides the walls?"

"Exactly, that's what I mean. Your brother doesn't want you to go near anywhere dangerous unless it's unavoidable." Eva said as she kept walking in front. "Even though you are one of the strongest among all the knights."

"Hi what are you doing with your hand? Show me," Isabel said as she notices Eva moving her hand in front of her doing something but couldn't see from behind what she was doing?

"Here you go. I've been practicing to make this for a while. Try it and tell me how it is?" Eva said as she gave Isabel a shaved ice ball over a wooden straw.

"Hmm, it's sweet and has different flavors mixed in it." She said as she took a bite. "What is it and what are these colors over it?" She said, putting her left hand over her forehead squeezing her eyes shut. "Ouch, my brain froze. It's too cold."

"Obviously, it's made of ice and you took a big bite, idiot. You supposed to lick it." She said, laughing. "I saw an old man making this in the old market while I was on a survey there. He was calling it shaved ice ball or something like that." She said with enthusiasm, looking back at her and she was lost in the ice ball. "Someone enjoying the ice a bit too much."

"Oh, you said something?" Isabel said as she looked at Eva, smiling. "What? It's really good. We don't get things like this in the upper city." She paused as she saw a crowd gathered in front of a temple. "Hi, what going on there? We should go look." She said, pointing towards the crowd and starting running towards it and Eva followed.

"Hi, you should handle this as am not on service officially nor am I in my knight gear," Isabel said.

"It's not my duty to handle the city affairs, but I was already going to do it because it seems there are no knights around." She said and asked, turning towards the crowd. "What is going on here?"

"Thank mighty God, you came." A bald old man wearing white long robes appeared from the side, his face covered in sweat, and there was a frightened look in his eyes. "I sent my students to notify the knights. However, no knight has come." He said in a trembling voice.

"Who are you and what's going on here?" Eva asked.

"I am the head priest of this temple." He replied. "I'll tell you about all of this, but you should stop these people before they take a wrong step."

"Okay, don't worry, I'll handle it now," Eva said, and then she shouted. "Clear the area at once and if you resist, I'll have to use force and if you don't want to get hurt, then do as you are told."

People turned towards Eva as they heard her shout and started yelling you damn nobles, who you think you are to tell us what to do. You might be a knight, but that means nothing to us. We are doing a job that you knight should do, but have no spine for it.

"God, I don't want to use force on these people, but it seems they don't want to listen to anything." She muttered, lowering her head down with a disappointed look on her face.

"Please don't waste any time. They're going to kill her." The priest replied with a concerned look as he look towards Eva.

As Eva heard that someone was about to get killed, she did not waste any time and quickly moved forward as she moved her right hand in a circular motion in front of her creating a half-circle and lifting her left hand in front of her, suddenly a giant wave of water appeared out of nowhere and swept all the people away and froze, trapping people in the water rendering them motionless. She again waved her left hand, creating a half-circle, but this time water beside the ice disappeared, revealing a pit in the ground. As she saw the white smoke lifting from the pit, she hurried towards it as she saw a little girl tied to a pole over a pile of half-burnt wood. Most of her clothes and skin were badly burnt and damaged, but she was still breathing, barely clinging to her life. Eva quickly jumped down there and pull her out. She put her on the ground and slowly swept her two-finger across her body as it engulfed her in a blob of water. "This will stabilize her condition for now and you, old man, talk. What the hell just happened here?" She said, grinding her teeth with a fierce look in her eyes.

"I'll tell you everything, but please, release your spell. These people will freeze to their deaths. Some of them might've done this terrible sin, but not all of them deserve this." The priest requested, bowing in front of her.

"Fine, but I need all the answers," Eva said as she took a deep breath and moved her hand in a downward motion, palm facing down as ice melted into water and disappeared into thin air. "None of you people are allowed to go anywhere until I say so," Eva said with a blazing look in her eyes.

"And if any of you tried to sneak out of here, I'll personally take care of that you'll die a screaming death," Isabell said with a dark grin on her face.

"Stop, enjoying this Bell," Eva said in a down voice as she look at the girl's burnt body in front of her and tears started flowing from her eyes.

"Oh, stop it. You should be happy. You saved this girl's life. Who knows what could've happened if you weren't here?" Isabel replied in a cheerful voice. "And you can heal her to like she was before without breaking a sweat. So cheer up."

"I know that, but it breaks my heart thinking what she's gone through physically mentally. The pain of slowly burning her body and the dread of no one coming to her rescue. It's just cruel." She said.

"Yeah, I know. I was just trying to cheer you." Isabel replied, then went silent.

"Please, bring her inside. It'll be much easier for you and safe for her there." Priest said.

"Why you are trying to save that which? Isn't this your job, to get rid of evil from this world which brought the world to this state?" People started shouting at the priest.

"Oh, lost children of God. This is not what our God wants. Innocent blood in his name. This is the opposite of what our God stands for." The priest replied in a down voice. "May he open your eyes to the truth and you could see the light, his light."
