"Sir you need to give me my resignation letter just now. There is an emergency back at home. I don't know what my grand mother swallowed. They're calling me to be home in thirty minutes time. The drive is twenty-five. That means I have only five minutes."
Amor and Avery didn't know whether to laugh or cry. People came in with weird excuses demanding for resignation. Over one hundred workers had left and more were still knocking on the door.
"Sir, will you be quick please? Three minutes remaining." This particular worker was very impatient.
"Hello… yes dad… what? You mean?" a lady banged on the door while faking a phone call.
"My uncle is in a critical condition. You have to let me go just now." She rushed in.
"Will you people wait? You'll make me run crazy. I'll definitely give you what you need!" Mr. Amor Azaan couldn't take it anymore and shouted to lady who fell to the ground and started rolling with the phone held tightly close to her ear.
"he's dead already?" she cried. "Sir, I already told you to let me go." She shouted. In real sense, she didn't have an uncle. What all these workers wanted was to leave as quickly as possible before the two could change their mind.
"Sweet heart, sign the letter for her." Mr. Amor Azaan said.
"What do you mean sign it for her? I was here earlier and I told you there is an emergency at home. My grandmother…!" The impatient worker shouted.
"Enough, get out of my office!" Mr. amor ordered.
"Sir, how can I stay here a minute longer? If you don't want to give me a resignation later, I'll leave without it ok?" The lady who was rolling on the ground jumped up and shouted at Mr. Amor.
"If my grandmother dies, I'll sue you because you are delaying me!" the impatient worker warned.
The two were the last workers here and they were afraid that if they didn't start a drama, they might be ordered to remain behind.
"Here!" Mr. amor threw two letters at them. The two picked them up and started running out. Not before they realized each one took the others' paper. After quickly taking the letter, they laughed in the elevator as they left.
Avery Azaan held her head in her arms. In six hours, she's been listening to the noise of the workers and signing resignation letters.
"Let's get down stairs and see how many workers are left." Mr. Amor said. Avery Azaan stood up and followed.
Getting down, they were shocked. The whole company was dead silent except for the few machines left running.
"Everyone left?" Avery Azaan looked around wide eyes.
Outside, the security guards stood impatiently waiting for a chance to ask for their resignation letters.
Amor Azaan walked into every office, closing the running computers and the machines. The files were in place and nothing was damaged.
Those from the financial office left all records neatly arranged on their desks.
Today, Mr. Amor Azaan really wanted to run crazy especially looking at his wife who was lying on the floor too tired to walk around.
"Sir, we as the security sector want to see you." The head of security walked in and spoke with a polite face.
Mr. Amor followed him outside where all the guards stood waiting.
"Sir, are you not relieving us off work?"
"What do you mean?" Mr. amor couldn't believe his ears. Everyone, even the guards were leaving.
"You need to look for your own security guards. Since the goddess in business isn't the one managing us any more, we beg to leave." One guard said.
"Huh! So, they were leaving because Rhea Azaan was no longer the head here?" Mr. Amor Azaan finally understood the cause of all those dramas few minutes ago in his office. Where will he start from? Looking for new workers and a new security team. The reality hit him, State Azaan company would never be the way it was. He started regretting his decision.
After the guards left, only two living souls remained at State Azaan company.
"I warned you against your decision, you never listened to me." Avery Azaan lamented.
"This isn't a time to blame each other, we need to think of what to do." Amor Azaan said.
"I want you to realize your mistake. Your rush decision is the reason for your downfall. Who will accept to work here? This was a company managed by a great person even if she was our daughter. Handing the company back without any explanation to the public raised suspicion and now everyone doesn't want to be here. Not even if you offer to pay ten times their wages. They worked under a different person and both you and I don't know how our daughter used to manage the worker. She didn't even give them any speech while handing the company over. Do you realize what you did?" Avery stated out the facts.
The fact that even the guards left meant Mr. and Mrs. Amor will be spending their nights at the company.
The media boomed with the news that shocked everyone.
"Everyone left, including the guards."
"It seems the company will finally shut down."
"That's what is calling falling from grace to grass."
"The worst mistake he did was to publicly disown his daughter and take back the company."
"Who cares about the fate of such parents?"
Everyone talked about the sudden change at State Azaan company.
Rhea Azaan watched the news and was shocked. Everyone had really left. Why?
That night, she called Valerie but she didn't pick up her call. Tired, she drove to the hospital and finished her night.
Austin and Briella couldn't believe it either. Some days back, the great Amor Azaan was at their home with threats but today he was really the talk of the town.
"Nature has its own ways of getting the people get what they deserve." Mr. Austin said.
They were also told the kids were safe with Rhea Azaan who had been disowned by her parents. Knowing that the kids were fine was enough to keep them going. They hadn't gone to see them yet because they were busy all day long.
Mr. Austin's phone rung. Caller: Adriel.
"Hello…" Adriel's voice came in.
"Hello… did you go to hospital today? What did the doctors say?" Mr. Austin asked.
"No goo report so far. But the reason why I called is to tell you about Rhea Azaan's request." He spoke.
"What request? Anything for her." Briella said.
"She asked me over to tomorrow's conference meeting. She told me not to miss." He said.
"There is no problem with that. As the only close friend to Kiaan, just do what she says." Austin said.
"Fine. I needed your assurance." Adriel cut off the receiver.
"Why do you think she invited him over?"
"I can't guess. We'll here from Adriel when he comes back."
Morning…
Rhea Azaan arrived home earlier before the children woke up. She locked herself in the study room and collected all the documents she would need. Two hours later, the kids were up and it was time for breakfast.
"Good morning mom." Everyone greeted as they received their hug.
"Ooh! My children are so sweet." She smiled.
They all went in for breakfast.
"Mom, are you going out today again?" Carly asked.
"Yes, mommy need to finish few things before she is finally free to be with you all day long, ok?
"Ok mommy." They all said in unison.
