In the conference room…
Today there wasn't supposed to be a conference meeting but Rhea Azaan had sent everyone a message yesterday and requested for their presence. Everyone was now here.
"Do you have any idea why the second in command ordered us here?" one business man asked.
"Why don't you ask the lord in business Mr. Antony Ethan?" he was answered.
The man went over and bowed respectfully.
"I greet you lord in business. Why did the second in command, her majesty call for a conference meeting?" he asked.
"I can't guess. No one knows except herself." Ethan replied.
Outside, Rhea Azaan parked and walked in. this time, there were no guards around her. Just herself carrying files.
"Sorry for keeping all of you waiting and also, thanks for leaving your jobs and coming here to listen to me." She stood on the stage and spoke. Everyone went silent.
"WE all have been following the news and I know we all know what happened to me. Am not here to lament over it actually but I came here for a different reason." She smiled politely as her eyes met Adriel's eyes.
"Actually, since my man got involved in an accident, I have a hard time taking care of him, our children and managing my position. And for that, I want to hand my position to someone else as capable as I am." She said.
"Miss. Azaan, I don't support that." One man stood up. "You're there because the position perfectly suits you. You worked hard to climb the ladder. You can't just decide to move out like that."
"Miss Azaan, I second him. If you have any problem, please contact anyone amongst us for help. Don't give up." Another man stood up and said.
"I really appreciate your decision but am not giving up this position for good. We are still partners in business and I'll still come back." She said.
The room went silent.
"Before I announce who us taking over my position, I want you to know it's not all about money, wealth and power but about capability. Who is able to do the work? Who can be an asset and not a liability? Who is the leader of benefit?"
"Adriel, come on stage."
Adriel was surprised. Rhea Azaan was handing over her position to him. How is that possible? If this is a dream, please slap me hard so that I can wake up. He said inwardly while walking to the stage. Everyone was looking at the new leader before them.
"Just sign this." Rhea Azaan handed her the files.
All the great men who sat in the front came to witness the transfer of power from her highness Rhea Azaan to Adriel Joseph, the new second in command lord of business.
The media which was invited took photos and the news ran over the whole country. The humble and polite Adriel took over the prestigious position. Yesterday he slept a normal low-class man, today he will sleep as a lord of business. Though he didn't have all the money and power every lord of business had, he had the capability and full support from Rhea Azaan.
After the swearing in of Adriel as the legal successor of the prestigious seat, Rhea Azaan went back home.
Meanwhile….
As the whole swearing process was going in, Valerie had visited Rhea Azaan's home and was with the kids who were really a great company as she waited for Rhea Azaan.
"Aunty Valerie, did you also leave work because of mom?" Harris asked.
"Yes of course. Your grand parents were too heartless and senseless to think. That's why everyone left them." Valerie explained.
"Daddy will be a great man someday and everyone will regret ever looking down at him at his most needy state.' Carly said
"Yeah… we all want your daddy to wake up and be with you." Valerie said.
Clap! Clap! Clap!
"Mommy is back." Rhea Azaan entered the house and was happy to see Valerie. "Valerie you're here!"
After hugging the children, she hugged Valerie who was too happy to see her.
"Babies, go upstairs. Mommy needs to talk to aunty Valerie." Rhea Azaan said. The kids obediently left.
"Why did you hand over the position?" Valerie asked.
"I want to manage my family. The kids need me. Besides, I'll be overworked if I continue being there. I need to give my full attention to my family, especially Kiaan who's still in a comma." Rhea Azaan said.
"You're really a strong woman dear." Valerie smiled.
"Thanks for the compliment. Did you see Hutson anywhere around?" Rhea Azaan asked.
"No… the kids said they left for shopping. I love the company you have here." She said.
"I love them and they love me too. They're a good company I have. Very inquisitive, funny, obedient, just name all those virtues." Rhea Azaan said.
"Can we go over with you to the hospital?"
"Sure. I'll get the children prepare and we will be off in a matter of minutes." Rhea Azaan stood up and walked upstairs.
Finlay company…
When Adriel arrived, he was welcomed like a prince. The new lord in business was a trusted employee at Finlay company. Who wouldn't be proud?
Adriel had grown up with his parents until when they passed on a few years ago in a car accident. Right now, he was an orphan with no one else to share his joy with except The Finlays.
"Now we can leave the company under your management with nothing to worry about." Austin said.
"Sure."
The truth was now clear, the Finlay company will capture the attention of the public. Also, it will rise to fame in a soon because the second in command was a worker there, literally, someone as close as a son to the old couple.
When will Kiaan wake up? When he comes back, he'll find everything changed. Briella cried inwardly.
Though they tried acting normal while hoping their son will one day get well, they still felt the pain deep down their hearts.
They also marveled at Rhea Azaan's sacrifice to be with Kiaan and the consequences she had to face in the process.
They also appreciated her charity to have Kiaan's children stay with her. Even though they were biologically not related, they were still very closely attached to him.
Adriel was also grateful at Rhea Azaan's sacrifices. What a generous woman!
They were still in Austin's office when cars hooted outside. The family was here to celebrate Adriel's new rank.
"Grand pa! Grand ma!" the kids ran to the two couple outside.
"Congratulations Mr. Adriel." Hutson who had known Adriel said.
"Adriel, meet some two girls who are more than sisters to me. Lina and Valerie. They stand by the Kiaan Family at a time of sorrow like this." Rhea Azaan said smiling.
"Thanks for keeping my sister-in-law company." Adriel shook hands with them happily.
The happy family went over to the Finlays and the ladies went to the kitchen to prepare dinner.
The children played with grand ma and grand pa.
The two men walked around the compound talking about Kiaan and his family.
After having dinner, which was taken together, all of them spend a night there at the small Finlay home which was more comfortable because of the peace and happiness that reigned that night.
Being together as a family is something everyone wants.
The only person missing here was the one and only Kiaan Tilden.
