"Why are you so adamant on going to this stupid party?" Haity was saying from the other side of the dressing trial room. Trying on the most cute brassiere that can be found in 38-DDD size, she was having hard time choosing the dress for the nights party that her best friend Maira asked her to attend.

"We haven't been to a party in such a long time and this woman, Ms. Kavita is such a badass." Maira said passing her another dress for the night.

"I don't believe people like going to their boss's parties." Haity mocked.

The people passing them in the showroom kept on giving Maira the weird look but she ignored stoically and continued the conversation.

"Why they won't? Food would be great, it's her son's 23rd birthday party, remember?" Maira said. She knew Haity was not into partying but she would be embarrassed to hell if her friend doesn't remember why she was even going.

"I remember that Maira don't worry. Okay I'm ready and coming in 3...2...1.." Haity came out wearing the blood red gown.

"Haity you look gorgeous, I always told you, you are Indian Christina Hendricks, of course shorter and with brown hairs." Maira didn't loose the the touch of fun even with the compliment.

"I love that compliment but you don't have to add short height honey." Haity retorted as she checked herself out in the mirror and surprisingly it was the perfect dress for a party.

Being a book store owner in the mid thirties was not the exact scheduled step of her life but her it was.

Haity was a single independent woman who lost her parents in an accident 15 years ago. After that most of the family relationship cut off automatically with the distance and the remaining were Maira and the new friend she made along the way.

Maira and Haity have been friends since junior school and this was the only permanent relationship in her life. Maira was married and mother of two, a boy and a girl. She was a stylist in Volant rex fashion company and worked occasionally for orphanage kids along with Haity.

Haity has been on a many dates with men of different age groups but none of them worked out for long. Except one, which too soon dissolved into nothing.

Hence, now she was single and had no plan to go on another set up date for a while, after last times epic fail.

Jeet, Haity's last date that last for almost 1 hour turned out to be a college student who wanted nothing more than free food and drinks. She was surprised at notoriety of the kids at that age, who give out fake profile just for some ridiculous fun time and troubling unknown people.

Although Haity sat down for the time till Jeet emerged back from the food plate and smiled the awkward smile in an attempt to light up the mood but she paid and left immediately after fulfilling the dinner ethics.

"I got my dress, and your dress. Let's go." Maira came holding two bags in both her hands and got into the drivers side of her car, leaving the bags on the back seat they left for home.

"Why don't you find home in a better locality, this lane is not even enough to get through with the car." Maira said as she struggled to pass through the narrow lane without scratching her car.

"I can't leave this house, it doesn't feel like it. I spent so much time with my parents here." Haity said remembering her late parents as she smiled to herself.

"I understand Haity but you know how mean most of these people have been to you and that Subham, I have already warned him so many times to quit troubling you but he..." Maira said as she pulled the breaks outside the front iron doors of Haity's house.

"Let it be Maira, I have punched him once and I don't think he have guts to go more than pass a few comments." Haity got out of the car and fetched the bags.

"If you say so." Maira ended the discussion, feeling the emotions of love and connection that Haity had with the house she lived in with her parents.

Maira and Haity spent the afternoon watching their common favourite movie 'Avatar' and then rolled on the couch a before getting up to get ready for the party.

"I have a feeling, that, you, my friend is going to find a really hot, handsome, smart and 50 shades of grey kind of match in the party today." Maira said as she curled another strand of hair on Haity's head.

"Wow. Really? Seriously Maira, I'm zero percent interested in any sort of relationships at this point.." Haity shook off the comment.

"But why? Okay I get it, you want a real knight in the shining armour."

"I don't want any knight in any kind of armour. It just feels like I should take a break from all this dating stuff for a while and spend some 'me time'."

"Great idea, we both should plan a trip to Bali, just the two of us friends. Wow, I'm so smart." Maira fake patted herself on the back.

"Really Maira? You are obsessed with that place, aren't you? It was beautiful though." Haity finally agreed as she went back to the memories of Bali, a trip they went on a 3 years ago along with four other friends.

"I know, I can't wait to go back there. Actually Aditya asked me to ask you, that he has a friend, a fellow professor in Physics department in his college, Roy. But since you are not interested in dating at the moment, should I say no to him?" Maira asked wrapping up the equipments.

"I think I'll try it out." Haity said, mentally praising her reflection in the mirror.

"Alrighty, I'll set you up then."

"Ready dear." Sahil turned and looked at his mother standing on the doorway, smiling merrily at her son.

"Mum. How do I look?" Sahil posed with his usual charming attitude grinning like a child.

"This tux was made just for you. Striking."Kavita closed up the space and adjust the collar of the jacket.

"Thanks mum, atleast there is some benefit of being your son, inherited your looks."

"Just that?"

"Well, let me think... nope, nothing else." Sahil teased and Kavita smacked his arm.

"Hate you." She said.

"But I love you mum." Sahil said and hugged his mother.

"Love you too." She hugged back before continuing, "Guests have started to arrive, I'll go down attend them, okay? Come fast." Saying this Kavita hurried back out of the door.

Sahil's cell pinged with a text message which he ignored but it was soon followed by ringing and he gave in to the curiosity of, why his friend plus flat mate Ronny was bugging him with texts when he should be there at the party.
