Bitter truth

Rey was seen lying down on a king-size bed. The interior of the room was painted in white and brown. A shelf was placed beside the entrance door with books of different kinds on top. Besides the sleeping Rey, there stood a healer and 3 well-built beings.

Rey let out a loud sneeze before opening his eyes. His eyes were flushed. He raised his head gently while the healer rushed to help him properly.

"Thanks, goddess, you are finally awake," the healer said.

"How long have I been unconscious?" He asked them.

The healer looks toward the three beings before him, obviously giving them the go-ahead to answer him.

"Just for a few hours, Alpha," a man replied to him, but Rey could sense grief in their voices. That is how his brain sends his signals back to him.

"My father," he asked, "where is he? Conor, tell me the truth now".

Conor broke the news, "We are sorry Alpha, your father died for you to live." Rey let out a scream that echoed around the whole building, his strong aura radiating around the whole packhouse. Every wolf in the packhouse bows down to their Alpha aura as it surfaces around the whole building, while their wolf takes control of their body.

"Conor, McCloud, and you Adrian," Rey growls in a deep voice. "Tell me, where is my father's corpse? I want to see him now".

"I am sorry Alpha, we have given him a befitting burial," McCloud utters, still on his knees.

They watch in horror as Rey's finger transforms into a long claw and his eyes change to pure red.

"How dare you bury my father without my permission? "He spat in a rage and tried to decapitate McCloud's head, but a strange light shone brightly into the room. The light was clear, revealing Seer Argon in a white garment and a staff in his hand. He stretches the staff towards

Rey and a force stops his hand mid-air.

"It wasn't their fault." Seer Argon "It was bound to happen, and we can't temper with fate's work".

"Where are you when we are alone fighting the battle?" Rey asked with venom in his voice.

"It is the work of fate", Seer Argon replied with a calm voice.

"Fuck fate, to hell with the bounds," Rey spat. "We risk our lives trying to protect the pack, but there you are without anything to help".

"Even if I was there with you, there is nothing I could do to help." Seer Argon utters

Rey went off the edge with his answer and dashed towards him with all the speed he could muster. He was so fast and invisible to the eyes, but Seer Argon only saw him in slow motion. Still, he doesn't move away from his spot and waits for Rey to attack. His punch passed through him like air, while the others opened their mouths in shock.

"Your bad temper will lead you to more trouble if care isn't taken". Seer Argon elucidated without moving from the same spot, and Rey moved closer to touch the seer, only to discover that the seer was impossible to touch. He is like some sort of spirit.

"Who are you?" Rey asked in bewilderment.

"It is not who I am," Seer Argon replied, "but the reason why I can't interfere in the human activity other than guiding only." Argon, the seer, clarified.

"Any way you put it," Rey replied without caring.

"After the titans and hybrid battle, I casted the sword of legacy to Mordor using my last strength, so it could be protected and wouldn't get to the wrong hand". Seer Argon utters

"How can you do something like that?" Rey asked and moved closer to Argon. "Even though we manage to seal Daniel, the celestial chain can't hold for long. So, to prevent an unwanted war that could twist the prophecy, "I had no choice but to cast the sword into a safe place".

"How come you are a living spirit?" Rey asked, still not getting the point.

"I tap into nature's power which enables me to see the future," Seer argon turned his back toward Rey and took 3 steps towards the bookshelf that was placed beside the entrance door. He brings out a book from the shelf which Rey doesn't know was there before. Well, how could he know? This room belongs to his father.

"You know, a price must be paid for using nature's power to unfold a prophecy. So, my body was used as the prize.

"It was trapped in Avalon".

Rey opens his mouth in shock. "Avalon?" He asked to be sure. Who won't know Avalon, the home of the dead soul and the living ghost?

"When I saw that the time had come for the prophecy to unfold, I had to contact your father before things got out of hand".

"Why and what does my father have to do with the prophecy?" Rey asked in bewilderment.

"Your sister, Franni does. "Seer Argon answered his question. "The legacy sword can't kill or have any effect on Thanatos, the god of death".

"How could you send her on a mission when you are fully aware that it can't kill him?"

"Because the sword will only be used for another purpose, "seer Argon replied calmly. "After she retrieves the sword, she will have to journey back to the forgotten temple".

"Medusa Gorgon lair?" Rey asked to be sure.

"Yes, the sword would be used to decapitate Medusa's head. Only then can you defeat Thanatos. "

"How can you send her on a deadly mission?" Rey asked in anger.

"It wasn't my fault; it is what must be done, whether you like it or not." Seer Argon concluded and vanished into thin air.

Rey ruffles his hair in frustration and faces "McCloud, gather escorts, we are going to search for my sister right away".

"But we can't leave the pack without any leader," Adrian argued with Rey.

"You and Conor should take care of the pack till I arrive". With that, Rey is forced to move out when a servant barges in unannounced.

"My lord, the shield is down." The servant utters these words while kneeling on his leg.

"Impossible" The healer and the beta's chorus together.

"How is it possible?" Rey asked in disbelief.

"We are on our daily patrol around the shield, checking for animals in their habit as we always do," The servant pauses for a few seconds to catch his breath while Rey and the rest wait eagerly for him to continue.

"When we noticed an unusual animal wandering around the boundary. Commander Rai was quick to attack the animal, and we threw his body back towards the shield. That is how we discovered that it was down".

Rey growled in total confusion as everything going on was driving him crazy. First, it was the demon attack, then his father's death, his sister is also unaware of the quest ahead and the shield is also down. Rey knew that he might go crazy any time if enough care wasn't taken. He was still in deep thought when something struck his mind.

"Have you checked the safe room?" He asked the servant.

"Yes, my Lord," a voice replied to him. He looked up and discovered that it was Commander Rai himself.

"What did you discover?" Rey asked again.

"I am afraid, my lord," the man spoke with a shaken tone.

"The amulet of life is missing."

Rey opens his mouth wide in shock, unable to

believe the news. The amulet of life is a sacred magic amulet that was forged from the first wolf blood and true Alpha blood. It was the amulet that served as a shield that protected the entire pack from wild or sudden attack.

Now Rey could understand the reason why Demios, the terror god, was able to gain access to the packhouse without going through the shield. So, it had been down all this time. Truly, there is a traitor amidst them and he sure makes them pay.

"According to the map," Adrian spoke, bringing Rey out of his deep thought. "The only way they could go is either through the east or west. Because going through the south or north is a waste of time, as it only leads further into the desert".

Rey nods his head to show that he supports what Adrian just said. He couldn't argue with the man because he had spent most of his entire life in the library, long enough to know every route that led in and out of the packhouse.

"So, what did you suggest that we do, my lord?" Conor asked.

"First, I had to warn my sister about the journey he is going through". Rey elaborated.

"Then we could send a bird". Commander Rai suggested.

"No, I knew a better way. faster and more reliable than the birds or any messenger". Rey elaborated.

He faces the healer and gives him some sign which means he should get out. Without hesitation, the healer walks out through the door, leaving Rey and the rest.

"Tell the rest of the packs to gather". Rey said something to the servant and watched as he hurriedly left.

"Commander Rai, you and Conor will take some strong men and supplies for you. You guys will go east, then communicate with me through the pack link if needed. I will take some men also and search the west. You know, the amulet must be brought back to restore the shield, before it goes cast and exposes us to unknown attacks.

"Right away, my lord". The duo chorused and went out immediately.

To be determined.
