Chapter 9- Horseback riding

'Isabel'

Six years had already passed when he saw his ex-girlfriend Lady Isabel Morgan. A beautiful young lady who had a pretty red long curly hair, brown pupils, white porcelain-like skin and sexy body, same resemblance of Lady Olivia Cameron. A sixteen year old young Isabel living in eastern border at Iris city fell in love with a tan skinned man with huge physique named Phoenix, they became friends and eventually came to love each other.

Isabel left for a month due to his father's order, that month she celebrated her seventeenth birthday and came back to Iris city with a new lover. Phoenix was devastated at the news he heard and he immediately went to Isabel in iris city to talk but she was no longer there. Beyond Phoenix' knowledge, Isabel left because her father threatened her that if she didn't marry someone else her father would kill Phoenix. She don't have a choice that's why she chose to marry the man she never love and met before. Phoenix was very angry at her knowing that she cheated on him and left, what's worse is that she was even marrying another man.

Isabel never showed up to him again after that. Phoenix moved on, but there's still a part on him that he wants to talk about what really happened.

Amy's cheek subsided from swelling.

'Ah, It feels more better from yesterday.'

'But...why did he side with that woman? Did he not see my cheeks? Is he blind? I am the one whose on the floor!'

Her mind was in rage. She kept thinking why Phoenix didn't even help her.

'Why am I hoping that he would help me? She's his girlfriend, ofcourse he's going to side with her.'

She slightly laughed and fix herself. While walking towards the training area, Apollo met her.

"Eve, there will be horse racing to take place tomorrow between knights, if you want you can join us too."

"Really? B-but, Sir Dixon I don't usually ride the horses well."

"It's fine, it's just between knights you know. Just have fun."

Apollo tapped her shoulder then left and Amy's mind was lost in space again. How can she race if she's not good at it. Exactly right at that moment she saw Daniel practicing his horseback riding.

"Daniel!"

"Oh Eve, are you going to join the race?"

"I want to but...I don't ride well"

"Do you want me to teach you?"

Amy nodded with a smile, she can ride a horse with a moderate speed like when they did the operation with the barbarians but if it's a race, her heart felt like sinking.

"There will be more competitions between knights as part of a training so, if you didn't win this time you can try at the other."

She got on the horse and move the reign and the horse began to move slowly. While taking her time she was able to ran the horse in a fast speed. When suddenly, Amy lost control of the horse, she was trying to pull the reign to stop but the horse kept running.

"Daniel!"

She cried out in extreme nervousness because she no longer knew what to do. Daniel saw her fear so he immediately chased after her even though he didn't have a horse. Everyone in the field looked at the horse running at its fullest speed. In an instant, a big black horse was chasing Amy. It's Blade, Phoenix' horse, he was chasing her. When he was about to reach the horse, everyone thought that he was going to pull the reign to stop it.

Phoenix immediately pulled Amy from the horse with his one large arm and sat her in front of him holding her in her waist to keep her balance and from falling. Amy was just stunned by what happened and was so nervous, she didn't even take a look at him.

"What are you even thinking riding a horse to its fullest speed? If you can't do it don't join the race. No one is forcing you!" He shouted at her as Blade stop from running.

No voice came out of her mouth, she was extremely ashamed of the situation. Phoenix got off his horse, lifted her down and coldly left. Daniel hurriedly ran to her and check if she's okay.

"Are you okay Eve? Why did you run the horse that fast? You could've get hurt."

"Sorry...I lost control to it too."

"Maybe you shouldn't join the race tomorrow, you can join at the other competitions, what do you think?"

"I really wanted to join this race since it is my first competition since I joined the Phoenix Elite"

Daniel can't stop her decision since she also had a point. He changed the horse for her to use, Amy practice until the sun has set. She thinks that she was doing good but still not confident enough.

'It's fine, win or lose atleast I participated at my first competition here.'

The dinner began like everynights routine, the dining room was always filled with knights chattering while eating. She always sat beside Daniel and quietly eat. She secretly took a glance at Phoenix whose silently eating beside Apollo but his reaction was always the same.

He was giving a chilly vibe but the knights didn't care of it at all as they were used to his behavior, she continued to eat and left first to get a good rest for tomorrow's competition. Not knowingly, Phoenix looked at her when she stood up and lost his appetite when she left the dining area.

Phoenix also left afterwards and wandered outside if she took a walk before resting. He felt bad for what happened earlier because he shouted at her in front of the knights but he don't want to apologize to a mere woman who act reckless without thinking as it crushed his pride. He gets annoyed when he sees her but he also gets annoyed when he doesn't see her.

He went back to his room and took off his training armor, took a bath and wondered why Lady Cameron didn't show in front of him, but giving a thought that she hadn't shown make him glad.
