"You..."
Cass was shocked silly, that there people could be so fickle-minded like this.
"Ms. Clover... where do you think you are going to?"
Ms. Clover thought that she could quietly run away while everyone is focused on Cass, but Rose saw through her immediately as she had been observing her with one eye.
'That b*tch'
Ms. Clover turned to face Rose, smiled and said, "Me? I just needed to get Ms. Cassandra's letter printed. Afterall, I am a woman of my words"
Cass was stunned silly, the only support she had left wanted to go print her letter of termination?! Slowly, hatred began to burn within her.
"Oh" Rose said and continued with a cunning smile.
"I thought you we about to make something up to protect your friend... Or isn't she your friend?"
Behind Ms. Clover's back, her hands were tightly fisted, she cursed Rose within herself
'This scheming cunning b*tch, she's clearly trying to make an enemy out of me to Cass... Even though I don't like this Cass girl, that doesn't mean I wouldn't like to use her some other time, but now that I'm out in this spot...' Ms. Clover looked at Cass who was looking at her as if she was her last straw of survival.
'I have no other choice'
"We have no relationship with each other, she merely a staff here as is everyone. She also was the one who said for herself that nobody is above the law. I'm just acting according to what she said." Ms. Clover felt like she had answered the question perfectly well, not only did she label Cass as a "staff" that she is, she also used Cass words against her, protecting herself completely.
Rose wanted to applaud Ms. Clover, she really deserved the role of the secretary to the CEO, she really has a way with words.
"You are right, Ms. Clover. Ms. Cass really did say that."
Cass was finally silent, she probably realized that she had no one left on her side anymore.
Cass finally thought of something or someone, light gradually appeared in her eyes... she looked around the crowd.
Yes! The person she was looking for was her boyfriend, Dean... he really couldn't be called "boyfriend", more like the thigh she hugs to survive, who provided her, her job in exchange for her body.
Dean, was indeed amongst the crowd but he's not ready to show his face especially on this kind of situation where the two ladies he's involved with happens to be against each other.
How will he dare show his face, he knows that both of them don't even know that they are sharing a man... He couldn't imagine what would happen if Ms. Clover found out, his job would probably be at risk too.
Immediately he saw Cass looking around, he bent down, he must not allow himself to be found out.
When Cass didn't see whom she was looking for, she was a bit disappointed.
"I can't be fired!" Cass suddenly proclaimed.
Ms. Clover looked at her and wondered if she had a loose screw in her head. Rose, on the other hand was amused.
"Oh, I wonder why you'll say such a kind of thing? Could it be that the CEO is your finance? Or you are the secret owner of this company?" Rose smiled at Cass, she was really looking forward to what Cass was gonna say next.
"Of course not, what are you saying?! That can't be?!" Cass looked around nervously, especially at Ms. Clover's face as she was the closest here to the CEO.
Dean who was trying his very best to conceal himself, was nervous, 'Was this lady trying to expose their relationship?'
His palms were all sweaty, he was contemplating whether to wait for Cass to continue with her words or to immediately leave the environment and go on leave, because no one knows about their relationship, he'll be safe for a while then when Cass has been fired parmanently he'll come back to pacify his "Master".
At the very moment he decided to leave the company and go on paid leave... Someone stepped on his hands. Dean felt pain immediately, enraged he shouted, "Which blind fool was that?!"
His shout attracted the attention of the crowd, Dean knew instantly that he had missed it.
"D*MN" he cursed underneath his breath.
"Hey guys, look it's Mr. Dean"
"So he has been here all this while?"
"But why is he on the floor?"
"Maybe he dropped his pen?"
"Or he could be avoiding all that is going on?"
"But why will he do that, Mr. Dean is a responsible man... instead he'll come forward to help the issue on ground"
"Responsible? Yeah right" someone from the crowd spoke sarcastically.
*Cough cough*
Dean knew he had to do something to stop the crowd from making random guesses..
He immediately walked to the center and looked at the two women in question. Cass, who was looking at him as if he was the only one left in the world for her and Ms. Clover, who was looking at him threateningly like, 'Why was he butting in?'
"Mr. Dean, seeing as you've been here for a long time, I think you already understand the situation on ground" Damien said.
"Yes, I do"
Dean answered like a benevolent boss but he was completely angered in the inside, 'D*mn b*stard,. how dare he put on air in front of me. But it's crucial that I keep my cool now, especially when I'm faced with such a hard choice to make. Who should I help between this two ladies?'
Dean looked at the CEO's secretary and respectfully said, "Ms. Clover", and then at his secretary and plainly said, "Ms. Cass"
After Dean thought about it carefully, he decided to go with Ms. Clover. He had weighed the pros and cons, If he chose to support Cass- the sweet little weak thing that had always depended on him for almost everything, he will probably never be promoted again... since doing that will offend Ms. Clover who might do something to his file. Even if he might keep his relationship with Cass after she's gone, she might not be able to get a job ever again and he had always wanted to be promoted again, his salary will increase and he'll be able to get better good looking girls like Cass.
On the other hand, if he chose Ms. Clover- his "Master", who had always looked down at him, his promotion will be just right at the corner since Ms. Clover had promised it to him already and he also enjoys their regular exercises.
When the crowd heard how he address them both, they all felt like they've understood who Mr. Dean was standing with in this.
"Mr. Dean" Cass called out pitifully.
When she heard the way he spoke to her, she immediately lost all hope, became teary and she looked helplessly at Dean, her eyes lost all colors... now she felt as if she had fallen into a bottomless pit with no way out.
She regained her senses to hear Dean say, "Yes, your judgement is very accurate. She should be fired... there's no need for her in this company."
This statement of his made Cass come back to her senses, she can't afford to lose her job over this.
"No, the company's law didn't say anything about things like this, I'm only getting suspended for a week, am I not?" Cass looked at Dean.
Ms. Clover was amused with how Cass unconsciously felt that Dean was the one who was in charge of everything, and how she kept looking at him even if he had already betrayed her.
'Wait... betrayed?' Ms. Clover was stunned by the word the used to qualify Dean with Cass...
'Why did I unconsciously use such a word like that? I also felt that Cass looked at Dean as if he was the one in charge of everything, wasn't that how Dean looks at me? Could it be?' Ms. Clover looked at Dean and then looked at Cass... seeing the look in her eyes she suddenly felt as if she understood everything.
She laughed inwardly, how could she not have noticed, her Clover was been two-timed all this while. She won't say that she wasn't hurt, probably a little. She didn't really invest much into her relationship with Dean, rather she would say she was actually annoyed that she was cheated on.
'So my little boy toy now has a little babe and has grown wings... ha'
"Well, she does have a point. Company rules only talk about slander." Ms. Clover said
"But what she did could also cause a drop in company share." Someone from the crowd commented.
"Blah... rules are rules, it's not my fault there's loopholes in the company rules" Case said, she was starting to regain her original spirit when someone suddenly said...
"Everyone check the company's homepage. Someone interesting is there".
When Cass heard this, she froze up again,
'what, what is there again? Why do I feel it's going to be nothing good'
Cass reached for her phone with shaky hands to check what was in the homepage.
