Chapter 8

*Jamie's POV*

After dinner, we took a stroll around a park nearby. The food was amazing and so was the night. Definitely makes up for the bad movie. We walked around in comfortable silence, looking at the starry night. Nearby the park there was an ice-cream truck.

"Shall we get some ice-cream?" Damian asked. I nodded in excitement and went over to the truck. "Which flavor do you want?" I thought for a little while and decided on the mint chocolate chip, my favorite. We sat at one of the benches, under the bright moon, letting the night's comfortable silence take over us.

"Did you enjoy the night?" He asked. I could hear the nervousness in his voice. Why be nervous?

"Yeah, it was fun. It was way too fun for two friends hanging out." I said. For some reason he became stiff.

"Yeah... two friends..." He said looking the other way. He turned to say something but was interrupted by a phone call. He took his phone out and looked at the caller ID, and he made an irritating face. I took a peek at the ID and saw it was Joseph calling him. He picked it up,

"What?" he groaned in annoyance.

"It's past ten, get him home," Joseph announced.

"Your mom said he could spend the night with me." He announced with pride. I ducked my face as I felt it become red from remembering what my mom said.

"Well, I say no, he has school tomorrow."

"It's Sunday tomorrow!"

"Family plans."

"Urgh... fine." He ended the call. "Looks like I have to take you home Lil Bunny." He said, disappointment in his voice.

"Oh, okay..." I said while also feeling disappointed. We drove back to my house jamming on every song that came up on the radio. When we finally arrived, Damian stopped me before I could get out. He took a deep breath and finally said,

"I know we have known each other for a day or so, but Lil Bunny, no, Jamie, will you go out with me?" His face was flustered and red. I blinked a few times, tilted my head,

"Huh?" I was confused a lot. Wait, does that mean that today was a date and not a friendly hangout! I internally screamed and hit my head on the window until it cracked open.

"I like you, please go out with me." He confessed again. I was in shock, paralyzed and kinda happy? "I know you have someone you like, but I want to be that someone, so go out with me." By this time his face was plush pink, so was mine. I was never asked out by anyone before.

"I... I need some time to think." I finally said, stuttering and clutching on to my bunny purse. My head was spinning and my eyes were searching where to look.

He let out a sigh he was holding, "I see, I understand. I'm sorry for being abrupt."

"No no no no, it's not that! It's just, I never went out with anyone before," I said frantically. He chuckled at my reaction and handed his phone to me. I looked at him confused about what to do and he got the message.

"I… don't have your phone number." He said as his ears were red. I smiled and dialed my number in and called my phone to save his on mine. I handed it back and saw he had a big grin on his face. I got out of the car and so did he. He walked me to my door where Joseph was waiting for us.

"Jamie, wait!" he called out as he pulled me before I entered. He cupped my face and gently placed a kiss on my lips. I was startled by his sudden action and didn't know how to react.

"HEY!" I heard Joseph screech. Damian's warm lips left mine, leaving me searching for his warmth.

"I like you." He said and ran off before my brother could catch him. "I'll text you every day until and after you fall for me." He said waving and drove off. I stood there in a daze not knowing what the hell just happened.

*Monday*

I was still unable to comprehend what happened on Saturday. Damian Jones, the star QB, kissed me. Even if it was just a gentle peck, he kissed me. And he didn't go back on his promise and texted me every day since then. It was either a morning greeting, something motivational or goodnight texts. Also, he confesses every text and It makes my heart swoon every time.

"Jamie Davis!" My math teacher, Mrs. Hollister called me out of my trans. "I see you were busy in your own world, but time to come back to reality," she said.

"I'm sorry Mrs. Hollister."

"It's alright, I know it's Monday and nobody likes Mondays, not even me, but we still have to put up with it." Mrs. Hollister is a very lenient teacher and my favorite. She is good at her job and if you don't understand anything, she will gladly re-teach what she just went through. Everybody loved her, even Chad.

Jane who sat behind me whispered, "What's going on? You've been like this since the morning."

"I'll tell you at lunch," I said. Lunch was only a period away.

*At Lunch*

"PFFFFBT!!! DAMIAN JONES ASKED YOU OUT!!!" She screeched while she spat the milk she was drinking. Heads turned around from how loud she was being. Dennis had practice, so he wasn't here. I don't know what his reaction would be if I told him.

"Should I get you a microphone and some jumbo speakers? I don't think people in New Zealand heard you." I said with annoyance.

"Jamie, OMG, I'm so happy fo-"

"Ah no, we're not dating."

"What?"

"I told him I needed some time to think."

"What is there to think? You got asked out by Damian Jones!!!" She said dramatically.

"Exactly, cause it is Damian Jones."

"What do you mean?"

"He is straight as a pole. Why would someone like him want to date someone like me?"

"You're asking the wrong question, my friend, the real question is who wouldn't date you? I mean look at you, you look like someone straight outta a yaoi manga. You are beautiful, smart, cute, adorable, funny, did I mention cute. And Damian is like a diamond in the rough, take your chances before you miss it." Wow, I knew Jane was good with her words and that she always made me feel motivated after I talked to her, more reason to love her.

"What did I miss?" Dennis said, walking over. Looks like practice is over.

"Jamie got asked out by Damian." She blabbed before I could say anything. I turned back at her with a glare and she just raised her hands as if she did nothing wrong. I turned back at Dennis and he had an annoyed look on his face.

"So that's why he's in such a good mood." He said scratching the back of his head. "So, you guys are going out?"

"No, not yet. I haven't answered him yet."

"I see." That was the only thing he said. The cafeteria started whispering and some guys started getting a bit more excited than normal. We turned to see what the commotion was, and it hit me.

The cheerleaders are approaching!
