In the final moments of the liquid seeping out of his eyes, ears, nose, any and all orifices of his body, before it completely covered him, Alexiel could feel his mind push up against Tristan's mind.
You know the feeling of puzzle pieces that fit into each other so smoothly without the least bit of friction or resistance of any kind?
That's what this felt like.
It wasn't like making soup and adding different pieces together to bring about a new flavor.
There was never any distance to begin with, it was just a sudden realization, and inspiration, a knowing!
As if you've gained a higher degree of sight. Radio waves are present around us all the time, suddenly being able to see them doesn't mean they've appeared out of nowhere, instead you're now not only aware of them but you can experience them.
It's not two minds going back and forth but two halves, or two nodes that make up a greater whole!
Such a degree of unity was a level of conscious awareness they had never been able to reach separately on their own.
As this new higher mind was forming, Alexiel's body had already melted and all that was left was a dodecahedron.
It was spinning softly in the air. It was beautiful, it was alluring. It felt comfortable to look at and it made the eyes of others fill with greed and want!
Suddenly an intense light shot out from it! A single new body was being formed around the light!
Skin of spice and undertone of fire, a brand new face that couldn't be said to favor one more than the other. well defined body with a much more slender build, and a height of at least 6'5" much taller than both boys!
Marigold hair with hints of tangerine highlights! Deep golden eyes, with a blood Red gem laced with cerulean lightning bolts between his eyebrows.
Behind him floated 12 crimson orbs with cerulean lightning all throughout!
He looked grand and imposing! He gave off a feeling of power and might!
The figure took a glance at his hands and beheld all of his nakedness. There wasn't much confusion in his eyes, but more curiosity for his new existence!
After a few moments of looking he finally moved his mouth.
"I… am Sovereign!"
These 3 single words sent out a shock wave of power that sped far into the horizon! Touching borders in distant places!
Sovereign took account of himself and the crystal orbs around him. He noticed the bareness of his body which didn't bother him at all but it seemed like he was dissatisfied by the lack of ornaments on his person.
We waved his hand gently and crystal hoops of the same kind formed around his ankles and wrists. They didn't rest against his skin but instead floated very close but in place.
He waved his hand once again and a thin semi crown floats right above his head.
His feet slowly started to lift off the ground, and when he went to wave his hand once more suddenly that same intense light from before erupted out of his person.
All his ornaments dissolved into the light and the one body split into two, both boys returning to their original form.
They were both thrown up against the wall and slid down onto the bed. Apparently they had exhausted all their strength with those few movements.
***
A few hours passed quickly.
This time it was Alexiel who began to stir first.
his body was shouting at him from all directions. He was unsure if he felt pain per se, but he definitely felt different than before.
there was a strong sense of completeness within himself. more than just a knowing or awareness of self. A deeper love for self, a deeper understanding of self, a more concrete certainty of what was.
That fusion of their abilities brought about a higher degree of unity in each other but also within themselves. Something difficult to express in words because it was so much more than abstract concepts.
Even now after returning back to this particular physical form, he knew that he was so much more than he was before he started the day.
Although he hadn't moved much, the changes in his breathing and the deep contemplation still created a small disturbance.
Tristan finally was roused from his own slumber, his thoughts no less complex then Alexiel's. But before he could get too deep into his own mental exercise he realized he felt a weight on his tummy.
When he looked he realized Alexiel's head was resting there but shifting back and forth slightly, and at times Alexiel could be seen rubbing his head.
Tristan reached out and combed through Alexiel's dark rose gold curly locks which invoked a deep soothing and calming within him.
It seemed to help Alexiel break free from his thoughts as well, immediately sitting up from the touch, only then did he look over and finally noticed tristan.
their green and golden eyes locked onto each other and the two boys could only smile. Alexiel visibly released a deep sigh of relief and adjusted himself to come up closer and hug around Tristan's neck.
"I hope you're pleased with yourself.
we are different than we were, and yet the essence of our being is still us.
I feel like a huge part of my potential has been unlocked, our potential…
even more so there is still so much more to dig out going forward.
we are no longer as helpless as we were before and we can be much bolder in the plans we make for ourselves, for us."
Alexiel said so much while they were locked together. Tristan nodded to indicate that he was listening, but really he had already reached the pinnacle of his past understanding of what life could be.
intuitively he understood the message Alexiel was trying to convey. Still he had so much of the here and now that he wanted to enjoy.
He couldn't fathom getting tired of this level of inner peace, but he understood rationally that this was only momentary and he still had many inner demons and heart devils to overcome.
Tristan just let Alexiel lay on top of his chest and swirled his thoughts about him. He smiled faintly and replied.
"We don't have to be in a rush to grow up tomorrow. I want us to still be able to enjoy a seemingly normal life for the next few years.
We should build something for ourselves of course secretly, but I am in no rush to be like everyone else. obsessed with controlling the world and the people in it.
as long as we have a place for us to explore and grow then I'll be happy."
Alexiel had zero objections. Before today they were both classified as level 2 mutants. Clearly a miscalculation on the state's part. Now after the event today, both of them were sure they were no worse off than peak level 3 mutants.
Unfortunately they were still young and had not been exposed to high class mutants or powered individuals so they had no way to gauge their particular strengths.
even less could be said about how powerful they were in that fused state or whatever that truly was. but the future no longer seemed as frightening to them.
The world around them felt much less out of their control and they were excited about exploring their own possibilities.
The boys layed around for another half hour before Alexiel decided it was finally time to get up. It was evening and he needed to make sure his family was fed and well taken care of.
"I have a few extra shirts and shorts in the closet you can try on, I'm sure something will fit.
Do you think it will be okay if you stay the night tonight or do you think you should head home first? should i go with you?"
Alexiel began sifting through his closet and drawers looking for things for himself and tristant to wear.
The two quickly threw something on and headed out towards the common area. Alexiel's face was already growing a few shades darker.
"We slept too long. I'm afraid the worst has happened…"
When they arrived in the kitchen it was a disaster. There was food slung everywhere and burnt objects piled up in one corner.
Star had her back turned to the hallway so hadn't noticed their entrance. she was rummaging through another pile of burnt things clearly looking for something edible.
"Who used my kitchen??"
"Aahhh!!!!!!"
Those few words uttered from Alexiel conjured a great scream from Star.
Tristan could only chuckle at this family's antics, this little girl really gets startled like a scaredy cat!
At this moment the shadows next to the fridge shimmered and now it was Tristan's turn to holler.
"AHH!!"
he jumped back into a defensive position with his hands raised! he was super surprised to see the older sister Angelic literally walk out of the shadows like it was a dark corridor.
"Don't blame me because you were sleeping so long. We were starving so I tried my hand at cooking again. I'm definitely old enough to be able to make at least something edible."
Angelic tried to sound convincing but from the looks of the kitchen she was not fooling anyone, not even herself.
Alexiel walked over and lightly plucked her forehead.
"What have I told you about living in delusions? it's not healthy, one day you will be able to make magnificent things, but you're 10 slow down.
I apologize for my tardiness, I had my hands full."
Rubbing her head softly, Angelica took in her brother and Tristan in full. Her eyes paid special attention to their changed clothes.
"Mm hehe, yeah I'm sure your hands were really~ full."
The way she spoke was so strange to Tristan. it had a smugness about it but her tone was so dry. it really seemed like her mind was in some far away place, like she was talking out of a daze but her eyes looked so alive.
Alexiel was clearly very used to this small banter with his siblings and paid them no further mind.
"Clean up your own mess, I'll work around you and fix something simple for all of us. Tristan is staying the night so maybe we should put a movie on?"
"Yay!"
"Yay!"
"Yay!"
The excitement from his two sisters was expected, but who knew Tristan would jump for joy too. Seeing Alexiel's questioning look, Tristan just spoke softly to the room.
"I don't get to watch movies with others at home…"
That single comment made Alexiels eyes widen slightly before he closed them, nodded and went back to getting something edible ready for everyone.
