Chapter 7

Dinner and a movie was a success. Tristan and the girls hit it off really well and everyone got to watch something they enjoyed.

Tristan was in awe at the idea of living with an entire family of powered people, everyone had a way to help make life a little easier.

Angelica hardly spent 5 minutes cleaning up the great catastrophe that was the kitchen mess.

Tristans simply watched her wave her hand, and the darkness rolled out and covered everything. all the garbage and bad food stains were eaten away into nothing! It made cleaning up a breeze! Apparently her ability was food grade sanitary as well! she could make money cleaning kitchens today!

It was finally well after midnight and it would still be a few hours before mother Euria would be home from work so Alexiel made sure the girls were tucked into bed before him and Tristan headed back to his room.

Lying back on the bed Tristan caressed his head while looking into one of the hand mirrors that were laying around.

This feeling of wholeness was personified in Tristan's complete recovery. He was a little disappointed that the family didn't react in a bigger manner, but it was also comforting in some ways too.

He really felt like he finally found a group of people that looked at him for who he really was instead of as a victim, or worse, a monster.

After a while Tristan noticed Alexiel sitting on the edge of the bed just staring at the blood cooling fridge. Alexiel had a very peculiar look, it was like he had an itch but couldn't tell where exactly it was coming from.

"Alexiel, what's wrong?"

Alexiel didn't turn around and just shook his head before he replied.

"There is definitely an issue I'm just unsure of what it is. it's like i'm forgetting something, even worse, it feels kind of urgent? I don't know.

I didn't have any other plans tonight outside of being with you. What could be so important that it would weigh on my mind like this?"

Tristan reached over and put his hand on Alexiel's shoulder.

"Think about your normal routine and start from there. What's different?"

Alexiel nodded and began to contemplate.

very swiftly his head jerked up and he rushed off the bed. He got on the floor and started looking on the ground and under the bed for something!

"Okay, what did you remember?"

Alexiel didn't answer and all you could hear was intense rummaging. It seemed whatever calling he was getting was weighing on him heavily. Soon he started to go into a slight panic and started to throw items off the shelves and his desk.

At this point, it was easy to tell he didn't have high hopes of finding whatever it was and he was slipping deeper into his panic attack. Tristan was very accustomed to this and stepped up and grabbed Alexiel before he could spiral any worse!

"Talk to me so we can figure this out!"

"My dad! it's my dad, I can't find my wrist bands. He hasn't come back today for the rest of the vials!

My wrist bands have a special function he can use to contact me. I realize now that I was too caught up in the pleasantries of today and I let my responsibilities slip.

He's my proxy and we have to look out for each other. He takes care of all the shady business and I produce the resources! Where are the resources? Why hasn't he contacted me?

I should be bloated and bleeding out of my eyes but I'm not? I feel normal! like, normal-normal, like by blood isn't going to continue to expand and explode out of me at any minute"

Alexiel threw his hands over his head and was fuming! something definitely happened to his father and he wasn't there to give aid!

"What did you tell me before? Sense your power, listen to what it's telling you."

Tristan repeated Alexiels words back to him. Panicking would only make the situation worse for everyone.

Alexiel stopped, he closed his eyes and took in a few breaths. In the darkness of his mind, small particles of crimson light were floating about, he expanded his senses outside his body.

a very short distance away he could see clusters of these crimson lights. He let his mind approach these areas.

The closest area was nearly in arms reach, the other two were still within walking distance.

the clusters resonated with his mind as he focused on them and images began to outline them.

The vials in the fridge, Star, Angelica… it was all related to his blood.

It isn't unusual for children to hurt themselves on a number of occasions during their adolescence, with one parent as a nurse, and a sibling who could literally bleed health potions, wouldn't it be a waste not to use them to accelerate the healing process?

"This could work!"

Alexiel's eyes flashed open!

"Something I never told my family is that my blood has some kind of lasting effect on people. I always thought it was some kind of fingerprint or a marker, something that would allow me to know who has used it.

but now i see that even though the benefits of my blood don't seem to be an everlasting passive effect it doesn't just disappear.

from what i can tell it enters into a small dormancy and just resides in the new co-hosts body imitating their normal blood."

Tristan listened and nodded his head.

"Are you saying you can use this new level of awareness to help find the blood your dad has on him?"

Alexiel, shook his head.

"Something better. I can find him through the dormant blood in his body and find his location.

Grab a Jacket out of the closet and bring your phone. I'll need to call in some reinforcements…"

Alexiel paused after he realized what he said.

"Wait, I'm sorry, this is going to be dangerous.

you can stay here tonight and i should be back by morning. If the girls wake up before I get back, just tell them I had to go out and pick dad up. They'll understand."

Tristan completely ignored him and started putting his clothes and shoes on.

"You think I'm sitting this out? there's no way! I'm not completely naive although I know I've been sheltered. but I've still experienced the ugliness of humans. don't count me out without giving me a chance!"

Alexiel flinched at this, what they were to each other had not been very well defined in this physical space, I mean they were undoubtedly best friends but…

"Tristan, people might really die tonight. I'm serious, this isn't a joke."

This time it was Tristan's turn to pause. but he only stopped for a moment before he continued to grab what he needed.

"That's even more reason not to let you go without me. I know you said you are calling back up but don't forget I'm not useless."

Tristan raised his hand up and from his fingertips to his elbow all became a cerulean color with moving red lightning bolts on the inside.

Tristan was very confident in his ability and he had a much greater degree of control over it now.

Alexiel wouldn't beat a dead horse, so he just sighed and grabbed his stuff getting ready to head out. before he walked out of the door he moved a painting on one of the walls that hid a key pad.

He punched in several numbers and placed everything back.

"Our family actually owns this building and when my father remodeled the top floor he turned it into a kind of safe house.

We won't be able to get back into the house without one of my parents unlocking it from the outside. my mother should be home in a few hours and will know what to do."

The two boys left the building with haste quickly passing a few blocks, just as Alexiel was motioning Tristan to hand over his phone, several figures suddenly landed from the sky.

Whether they had jumped down from the nearby buildings or had flew over Tristan hadn't a clue, but he had been prepared since they left the building and he immediately turned into his crystal form.

Tristan got in a self defense position and put himself between Alexiel and these newcomers.

Before he could make a move Alexiel grabbed his shoulder!

"Wait! they're on our side!

Matthew you're already here! I was going to call for you!"

The leading figure stepped forward and gave a light bow. His features couldn't be distinguished as he was wearing all black and the hood on the cape was positioned to shadow his face in this low light.

"Young master, we have been sending out the signal to your communicator for a few hours now. but as i can see, you are without your usual regalia.

even more so you've brought a friend. how disheartening to meet under such unfortunate circumstances. I take it you've realized something has happened to your father?"

His words filled the boys with suspense. Tristan was really the only one here who had no real idea of the depth of what he was about to be enthralled in. Alexiel, clenched his fists.

"There was an issue I was occupied with all day, unfortunately my custom communicator was lost during the situation. I'll have to commission something new to be made in the future.

Do you guys have a read on the exact situation?"

Matthew only shook his head before he started leading his team and the boys away.
