Why does it hurt so much?

I waited and waited.

Hopefully, I persevered. I waited patiently for him to say something, anything.

But, Tobi remained silent.

His eyes had already stopped gazing into mine and were fixated on the carpet on the floor as if it required his attention more than the situation on ground.

I grew tired of waiting for him to say something so I spoke up instead.

"Well, don't you have anything to say? Why are you so quiet?" I asked, crossing my arms in growing annoyance.

As if he just regained his consciousness, his eyes snapped back up, glancing at me sharply before settling elsewhere, away from my questioning look.

"What do you want me to say, Chisom? Why did you have to bring this up when we were thriving just fine?" He facepalmed.

Incredulity filled my senses. I could hardly make sense of what had just come out of his mouth.

"What the hell are you saying to me now?" I said slowly, anger steadily building up inside me.
