"What did he say to you?" I asked when Reuben came back to the room without August.
"And where is August? Did he leave already?" I asked, craning my neck to look outside the door to check if he was just lurking about.
Instead of answering immediately, he placed his hands on my arms and turned me away from the door to look at him
"What?"I said, raising my eyebrows in question.
"He left, "He said as he traced circles on my arms.
"He left," I deadpanned, not intending it as a question.
"Yeah," He replied anyway.
"What the hell happened out there? I knew I should have eavesdropped," I said, snapping my fingers in regret.
"He just left. You know what? You don't need to worry about what was said or wasn't said. We talked and he left. Nothing negative was said and it is nothing important to worry yourself about, okay?" He said firmly as he mustered up a smile.
