(AN:Rei {male} translates to Zero in Japanese)
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Rei.
An average male, pretty basic. Only thing special about him was that he never had powers. Which was strange as 99.9% of each generation would get powers. He was a special case though.
Going at 6'4 feet with purple hair and light blue eyes, no one used to like him. He never had a dad. Only a mom. Because of this, many mocked him…..
Sawazaki City, Iyashino tenshi no tatchi hospital...
"S-sir… What happened?" The doctor asked Rei after he had woken up. Which Rei answered by getting up and heading for the door in a slow manner. "What are you doing Rei! You're not supposed to walk. Not after your leg injury.
"What injury?" Rei asked the doctor who looked at the once fractured leg. "How is this possible? Do you have extravagant healing abilities?" The doctor wondered. "No. I don't have any powers. Now, if you'd excuse me, I don't want to stay in this vomit-filled establishment."
Rei walked away with a straight face. "Damn. I didn't wanna be harsh on him. But I have to figure out how to get abilities or I'm screwed."
He grabbed his phone out of his jacket and scrolled through it. "Shit. I've been transmigrated into such a loser." Rei was an otaku who enjoyed anime, games and manga. He loved writing his own fictional stories hoping people would notice them. With no girlfriend and in University, he was considered a loser.
Rei's apartment was close to the hospital so in no time, he had arrived home. Seeing how dirty it was, he began clearing it out to make space for alot of things he planned to set up.
This modern world was full of beast that roamed the lands. Those beasts were hostile and to be slayed. The government made walls around every city to assure people who didn't like the idea of fighting. Gunshots would be heard every day and night and the city was on the verge of a breakdown. At least that's all the information Rei had.
For a change he decided to attend school to see people who would be great for his project he planned. It was still early in the morning so there was time to get ready.
Kanpekina Seiseki University, early morning….
"Hey Rei you powerless loser!" A distant voice said as a guy with an eye scar came with a gang. "You already back from the hospital you asshole? I can send you there again!" The guy walking towards Rei said once more. Rei recognised him as You, the gang leader of a certain gang. Rei just took a hateful glance towards him and walked away.
He walked to class peacefully the rest of the way strangely enough. Walking into the lecture hall, he was overcome with a strange sense.
Suddenly, 'Bam!' A gigantic mantis broke through the wall. Screams of agony filled the corridors and the rooms as it sliced everything it passed.
'Evacuate immediately! Wait for the privileged!' A speaker said loudly as the mantis kept on reaping lives.
Rei, understanding what was about to occur, tried to make a run for it but the mantis was by the door already.
"Fuck, everyone, out the windows! Use your abilities!" The lecturer shouted in panic as he transformed into a cloud with glasses and flew out the window.
Everyone but Rei did the same because he had no abilities. Fear filled his being as he shuddered. The mantis, slowly moving forward dramatically increased its speed and soon, they found themselves in the corner of the room.
With beaded sweat running down his forehead, he didn't know what to do. Was he going to die again? Was it the end once more after just getting into his new life?
'As soft as a cloud and as nonexistent as air' A familiar voice resounded in his head.
The praying mantis raised its limbs and sliced at Rei's neck. 'Thwang!'
It's claws hit metal. It began wondering where it came from, it jumped back only to see Rei with anger on his face. Rei's hair began flowing, glowing and waving. His right light blue eye began to glow too.
Pans with purple and green around them surrounded him. The strange purple and green was his spirit energy. Energy one could manipulate to do anything.
Out of nowhere, eight very sharp knives flew out of nowhere, just rotating sideways towards the mantis, ripping off all its limbs.
But it just grew more legs and arms. It's regenerative abilities were enchanced and it became enraged.
More knives appeared but they didn't manage to cut it's hard skin. Easily, someone would think Rei was screwed. Well, no. He wasn't.
Rei mustered up all the spirit energy he could use and carried the mantis. No matter how it moved and struggled, it couldn't get loose. Rei began banging it on the roof, floor and walls with alot of force. He then brought knives and placed them on the floor pointing up, only to send the praying mantis crashing into the blades.
He got a chainsaw from the utility closet nearby and revved it up. What was heard next was the cry of an enemy and the cheer of victory. Rei had cut it in half and continued to, just to ensure it was dead. The mantis was atleast 8 feet tall and Rei not only slaughtered it, but survived with one injury on the neck. The mantis claw cut his neck a bit causing him to lose a bit of blood.
People walked in the room to see a pool of blue blood and chunks of Insect meat. Rei was covered in a bit of his blood too but he wasn't dead. He heard cheers as his body was carried to the medical ward.
Rei was conflicted with emotions, not knowing what to say when he woke up. He had never felt this way before.
A feeling of accomplishment and liveliness he felt never existed.
