Chapter Two: Eradication of the beasts in Ganjō City

"Ugh where am I?" Rei asked, staring at the ceiling in the school's medical ward.

"Oh, don't get up yet. Monsters are currently attacking the city and others are right outside the gates." A nurse said to him as the cries of multiple mantises filled the air.

Rei jolted out of the school through his window and attempted to use it on himself. He felt a bit nauseous but he was flying.

He then used the rest of his spirit energy to bring as many sharp and blunt objects as he could that began circling around the top of his head. It was 5 knives, 18 Daggers, 8 Medical knives, 2 axes and 1 chainsaw.

From his view, he could see it all. The mantid¹ slaying residents of Ganjō city. Anger filled his heart as he quickly flew as he could towards all the chaos and looked from above with a god's intimidation.

Just as he was about to lose grip on himself, he landed on the ground. The mantid ran towards him in a fit of rage causing part one of Rei's eradication plan to be set in motion.

Rei let some of the knives fall to the ground hoping it would work. Rei began running from the mantises as quickly as he could. When the mantises began moving over Rei's trap, he stopped, used his spirit energy and cut off  their back limbs from a quarter of the mantid.

"Yes," He said silently to himself. Taking out the movement of some of the mantises.

He maneuvered his blades and sliced the legless quarter in half, killing them. He decided to move on to the next area that had a mantid which was around the subway station. Strangely, the mantises there were bright orange, confusing Rei a bit but they were vulnerable to many attacks.

"It looks like there are different variants of them… Normal mantis excel in defense, making their skin tough, while orange ones have basically no defense and a lot of offense, meaning I can easily slice them as long as I dodge their attacks.… Interesting." Rei easily analyzed and knew that what was next would be abnormal.

He was right. There were bright red mantises by a popular shopping mall. They could breathe fire and scorch anything in their path. However, fire hydrants existed in this world even though people had water abilities.

Pulling out the hydrant from the ground, the water began flowing up. Rei used his spirit energy and created a few water bullets. He made them rotate as quickly as he could and sooner than later,

'pew' 'crack'

A mantis was killed by a headshot. But now, Rei, understanding more about the situation, knew what to do.

He created multiple huger ones the size of a human hand and sent them towards the mantid, causing them to be easily wiped out.

Rei got all his weapons, ready to kill the last batch of them just outside the city gates when he spotted something strange about this mantid.

They weren't just a mantid, there were wolves, eagles, flying worms and approximately two gigantic spiders.

Sweat ran down his forehead as he began rethinking his choice of coming here. But an idea struck his head.

He dramatically walked outside the gates and stopped. There, he dropped all his weapons. With a smug look on his face, he lifted the ground the animals were standing on and singles it I to the ground but immediately brought the ground back up. He repeated the process at least twenty times and then stopped as he knew he had taken care of the ground animals but then a spider flew from the sky with web wings. The other spider had already died.

Only one thing was in his mind as he breathed in and out roughly. "I'm screwed," he said, collapsing to the ground but not passing out due to overuse of power.

Just then, smoke was sighted in-front of him as a girl with 5'4 height came to the rescue. "Hey 'hero'," she said in a childish mocking tone. "If you think you're a big shot, why the hell did you randomly over-use your abilities?" 

"Shut up. You can't patronize me." Rei retorted with a vein popping from his head. The girl just looked at him once and focused on the battle.

The smokescreen she had covered the enemies in began fizzling. "Watch and learn newbie" She said to him as she snapped her fingers.

Suddenly, the smokescreen exploded into pink flames hotter than lava. It completely burnt them to ashes. "There wasn't even much to learn!" Rei shouted and tried moving his body but he couldn't.

"Pfffff…."The girl held back her laughter and smiled. "Name's Akari. Nice to meet ya."

She said while holding out her hand.

"Akari, Move! Left!" Rei shouted with a look of despair as a boulder hit the location of Akari. "Holy shit. What the… How am I still alive?" She asked as she looked towards Rei, who's hair was flowing and eyes glowing. He woke up and went Infront of her, "you have to get through me if you wanna get her!" Rei said with his light blue eyes.

Rei wasn't fully recovered and his energy wasn't recovered, but he would still fight so others don't face the same fate as he did. As he looked at the enemy Infront of him which seemed to be a giant two headed snake.

Rei looked down, raised his hand and spoke, "Begone!" His Weapons rose from the ground with the purple and green aura. Heading for it's foreheads, the snake maneuvered it's body while in the caught state that Rei put it in, causing Rei to chop off it's tail.

"Fuck" Rei looked at Akari in a fit of despair as it  and with a sigh, Akari blew out smoke. Rei created a bubble of the smoke and kept it by his side.

Releasing the snake from the bind, it fiercely leapt towards them, head-straight but when it was near them, Akari snapped her fingers in sync with Rei who sent the smoke orb down the Snake's throat and explode, killing the snake.

They did the same to the other snake and finally heaved a sigh of relief.
