After speaking with the dragons, they had taken off saying they had urgent business. Months had passed and Lilith's wounds had healed. But the memories would not. Night after night she saw her father with a whip in his hand beating her until she died.
Arcane refused to stop talking about wedding ideas. Her weary mind couldn't take a test let alone the stresses of getting married. Lilith knew she made a mistake telling him she'd marry him. They made good friends and great combat partners but keeping a happy relationship and acting proper were never her strong suit.
"Lilith, you aren't paying attention." Arcane said.
The winged knights were talking about how they could participate in the wedding.
"Your Highness, with all do respect, I don't think she's ready to be thinking about the wedding." Raphael said
She silently cursed him for saying anything to her future husband. Lilith confided in the guard a month ago about her troubles and he promised to say nothing.
Arcane only laughed. "That's very funny Raphael. Why wouldn't she be in the right mind to be planning this? She's all healed from her father. He can't hurt her."
Raphael tensed. " Your highness with all do respect, you haven't experienced anything traumatic. Both your parents live, you haven't been on a mission or lived during war times, it will be hard for you to understand but even when the wounds heal, the scars don't."
"I am not stupid Raphael, I've lived 18 seasons. I've given her months to heal mentally. She's had no responsibilities. She has no reason to not be focused now." Arcane scowled, throwing the ink jar against the wall, shattering.
Lilith left the room, unexcused. She was only trading tyrants. The halls blurred with tears as she began walking in the direction of the guards training room, a place she had found refuge in many times before.
A cold chill ran down her back when the door slammed shut behind her. From the shadows emerged the black and white man, Death.
"Please make it quick." Lilith sobbed.
"I am not here to kill you. The demon king wishes to speak with your future husband."
Lilith waited in her room while they spoke. The moon shone bright in her room and the idea of sleep was only a fantasy.
"You're leaving with this demon." Arcane said the next morning his voice unwavering.
