Chapter two;Resolve (part two)

After going back home, Nittah met her family who were always happy and cheerful and she almost forgot the small incident in the street. She spent time watching their favorite tv shows and had dinner while chatting happily. She was feeling a bit exhausted so she retired early. Her dear mother had been very worried that she might have gotten sick and decided to keep it to herself to save them from unnecessary worries. As a good mother, she followed her to her room to check on her.

Nittah was lying on the bed on her stomach with her hair spread all over her back and the pillow. She was recalling the days events and remembering the incident, she felt embarrassed again. She heard the door click and her mother entered carrying a small basin with water and a towel. She sat up and leaned on the headboard looking at her mother's worried expression.

She saw her raise her hand and touched her forehead.A surprised face replaced her mother's worried face with her lips slightly parted ready to scold her. But instead, she held her cheek and looked at her again with the worried expression."You're burning, dear." she said. Her motherly instincts were right. She had caght a fever and that's why she came carrying the needed equipment to cool her down.

Nittah hadn't realise her temperature had rissen until her mother told her. Unknowingly, she raised her hand and touched her forehead. She was burning indeed! Her mother tucked her in and covered her halfway making her to lie on her back facing the empty sealing. She dipped the towel in water and placed it on her forehead and removed it after sometime reapeting the same until her temperature lowered.Nittah had already fallen asleep and her mother placed a kiss on her cheek leaving the room quitely.

She slept a dreamless sleep until she felt some warmth on her skin. It was already morning. The sun rays peeped through the light curtains reaching her skin. She quickly showered and went down to have breakfast. Her father and her elder sister were already sitting on the table having breakfast while her mother was in the kitchen. She kissed them good morning and went ahead to dig on her plate.

The table was awkwardly quiet as nobody talked .Instead they were all focussing in their plate as if it was their last meal. She knew her father was bothered by work affairs but her sister, why was she quiet? She was used to her talkative self who was always teasing her all the time.As she focused on her food ,she could feel Betty throwing daggers at her but when she looked up, there was nothing. It seemed she was moody early in the morning.

"Good morning, chubby cheeks?" Her mother broke the silence as she was coming from the kitchen with a light mood warming up the table."Morning Mom." Nittah replied."How are feeling now,Honey?" she asked raising her hand to her forehead to feel her temperature. Betty on the hand rolled her eyes and threw a dagger at Nittah.'Mom is always dotting this girl!' She thought as she stood up and picked her bag saying a quick good bye and walked out. Her father also stood planting a kiss on everyone. Grabbing his cars keys, he headed out to the garage.Nittah had the rest of the breakfast with her mother until she too left for work.

Now that she was home alone, she could feel the emptyness inside her again. With no one to talk to or cheer her up .Only the internet and her stuffed rabbit. That had been her best doll since she was six and she was not willing to let go even if she was a grown up girl. The stuffed rabbit had several stitches at the back running from its fluffy tail all the way up to it's nape. It was her sixth birthday gift from her father.

The stuffed toy was not so good looking but Nittah kept it because she would pour all her problems to it anytime she felt low.She would tell it about her day and also the things she couldn't tell her sister.Rubby was the name she had given it thirteen years ago.Rubby was always there.Sitting quietly, listening to her without judging her nor speaking a word until she was over with her frustrations.

If only it could hear her and talk at some point.Regardless of being lifeless,Rubby had become her best friend. She was so attached to it that she treated it like a pet.
