chapter 2: Meeting Jor-el

***krypton, 17 years before the destruction

Technically kids of my age that were cloned to become scientists would be learning advanced subjects such as engineering but I had shown the potential to be a quick learner even by Kryptonian standards which was why I was currently traveling to the thinker guild headquarters situated in Kandor, the capital city of Krypton.

honestly speaking, the movie didn't do justice with how they portrayed krypton. We were thousands of years advanced civilization from the Homosapien counterparts of ourselves. we were not just masters of genetic engineering but we had a vast amount of knowledge in almost every field of science and if I played my cards correctly, I would get to learn any field that I desired in the future.

"Kar-el, you have reached your destination. I hope you bring glory to krypton." told the A.I. of the hovercraft I was currently in.

"thank you jasper for your good wishes. I appreciate it a lot." I replied while getting out of my ride.

I observed the building where I would be spending most of the time from now on while my ride till here goes away. I took a deep breath to encourage myself as I stepped inside the guild.

As I passed the door, I put my identity batch on my chest which allowed entry into the inner facility of this guild. I reached out to the reception desk just near the entrance but it was empty and then " greetings Kar-el, " came a voice from behind me so I turned and observed the projection of an A.I. which continued what he was speaking earlier while smiling at me " I have been informed already that you will come today. I'm the acting guide of this building, you can refer to me as Newt. why don't you follow me so that I can introduce you to the premises of this institution?"

As he started to lead me inside, I replied " it's my honor to work in here and meet you too, Newt." to which he replied while entering the elevator disk " haha, honors all mine, now listen carefully. floors 1-5 are reserved for entertaining guests as well as community cafeteria and sleeping quarters, in case someone wanted to take a quick break while researching, floors 6-13 focuses on advancements related to weaponry while floors 14-30 focus on bio-genetics and elemental research, floors 31 to 35 are reserved for A.I. advancements and floors 36 to 40, are for mechanical and computerized research, from floor 40 to 43 are personal facilities for important personal so they can focus on their research as they prefer, you will be going to floor 43 to meet with the head of the guild and last but not least floor 44 and 45 are for planetary observation as well as universal observation. "

I nodded to indicate that I got it. We left the elevator and entered floor 43 and I observed 14 separate compartments separated in the middle to make room for walking.

Newt said to follow him as he lead me to the last compartment on the left side and turned to me and said " My duty is over here, you can go in as I have already informed the head about you. if you need anything, just speak my name. " and then the projection of him dissolved in front of me.

'I still can't over with the concept of holograms .' that was my thought as I turned to face the entrance.

"Do you plan to stand there for some more time or are you coming inside, cousin?" called a voice from inside and that's the push I needed to enter the compartment.

The first thing I observed was that Jor-el looked the same as in the movie which was weird but it made it easier for me to discern certain people. Another thing was that he looked the same age-wise too physically which was not a surprise considering that Kryptonians age slowly after reaching a certain age even without the energy from a yellow star.

"Hello, cousin I'm pleased to work under you. I'm just graduated from the institute of education with expertise in A.I., quantum physics, cosmic science, and space engineering. I would like to learn from you while working as your assistant on your projects. "

Jor-el came to me and bend down to reach my height and said," It will be my pleasure to teach you as much as I know, kar-el. while your mind already fits the criteria to work here, sadly your body doesn't until you reach the age of 14 at least in my opinion. To be honest with you, I was against the idea of appointing you as my assistant in my experiments due to your age but elders had already decided on it and I can only follow on it."

he put his hand on my head and continued," I'm impressed with your desire for more knowledge than acknowledgment which reminds me of myself in my younger years. that's why I have decided that you will only be given assignments that don't have many physical requirements such as running scenarios on operators. you will also be given assignments in different fields so that when you reach the age of 14, you would be prepared to be my assistant in the true sense. what do you think?"

"I have no problems with that. I too understand that I'm not fit for physical work currently. Can I work on my projects too as long as they are on the computer? " I asked excitedly.

he smiled while asking me," of course you can as long as you have free time that is. you will have access to all the knowledge that the guild held except classified information like weaponry. I hope you enjoy your time here now let me show you your desk so that you can organize it how you like. you will be working from tomorrow after all."

I nodded and followed him to the back where a small cabinet was made for me containing all the required hardware. It was made according to my age so I don't have to worry about my height being an issue here. I'm certainly very grateful for all the thought put into it.

"do you like it?" Jor-el asked to which I replied "certainly".

" Try to not be stiff around me as I like to have some normal interaction with people I know," Jor-el told me while getting back to doing whatever he was doing earlier on.

I too started to run the devices and get a feel of them for what they do and that's how time passed on my first day at thinker guild.
