Side story #1

"We found you in this. " Dad stepped back so I could look at the space pod that he revealed to me.

I caressed its surface as he continued," We only found this locket on you. "

I turned around and received the locket in my hands.

It heads two similar-shaped objects at its helm that could be detached from it. One was black while the other was white.

" I took them to a metal expert and he told me whatever they are made up of are outside of the periodic table. " Dad remarked as he looked at me in the eyes with wrinkles on his forehead.

" It only further proves that you are not of this world, Clark. " He sighed.

I didn't know what to make out of it. I knew that I am different than the rest and I already thought of this possibility but it getting confirmed made me feel alienated.

" Can't I be just your son?" I pleaded to my idol in life softly as I lowered my head a little bit. My eyes started to get teary.

" Of course you are. " He patted me on the back before continuing, " Clark -

Lois tried to step out of the helicopter but it was too high for her. Thankfully, a hand came to support her just at the right time and helped her to the ground.

" Thanks" The guy gave a little smile as he nodded to her.

" This way, Miss lane. " The army officer that was tasked to receive her signaled her to move toward the camp.

She turned to him and nodded before walking with his lead.

" Collect Miss lane's bags, Kent. " The officer turned to the man who was already doing that.

Lois suddenly remembered and turned around as she addressed the man," Be careful with them. They are heavy. "

He just nodded as he looked at the bags while Lois and the officer started to walk away.

" I have to confess that I am not a fan of the daily planet, Miss lane. Especially of those little pieces that you wrote about 1st division were. Well, they were pretty impressive." The officer smiled as he looked at Lois while the noise from the helicopter filled the background.

" Well, what can I say? I get writer's block if I'm not wearing a flak jacket." The noises of their shoes stepping on the snow signified that a snowstorm visited this place recently.

The officer chucked as they kept moving.

Lois looked at the camp from above as a military helicopter carried instruments to the camp.

Military and Journalists don't have a good relationship. Military by principle prefers to keep things secret if they can which is not possible if a journalist is around.

I entered the tent to find two people that seemed to hold a level of authority among the group.

"Miss Lane, I'm colonel hardy, U.S. northcom " The first gentleman spoke before pointing to the gentleman next to him," Dr. Emil Hamilton from DRAPA."

"Hi" Dr. Emil raised his hand for a handshake that I returned as the general pulled his own hands behind him.

" You're early. We were expecting you tomorrow. " There was an inquiring tone in his voice which I kinda expected. These people always didn't like it when things don't follow plans.

" Which is why I showed up today" I sighed once before I got to the point.," Look, let's get one thing straight, guys, okay?"

I continued," The only reason I'm here is that we are on Canadian soil, and the appellate court overruled your injunction to keep me away."

I looked at them both before I finished my part," So if we are done measuring dicks, can you tell your people to show me what have you found?"

*** A few hours later, Clark P.O.V.

I walked to the entrance that I created in the ice with my heat vision and enter inside it to continue with completing a path to the thing hidden under the ice.

'I know that I'm close to whatever it is.' I started clearing the ice from where I left it. A dozen minutes later, I was done.

I was inside the cavity and found what was inside the ice. As I predicted, I didn't waste my time forging my identity just to come here.

It was a ship, a ship capable of space travel. I was so delighted with my success that I couldn't stop myself from walking to it.

As I admire the walls, my eyes fell on the device situated beside the entrance. As I walked before it, it opened up to reveal the inner part.

There was a space in it that looked perfectly appropriate for any of the two keys that I had in my locket.

Just as I was contemplating on which of the key should be inserted in it, I felt a presence behind me.

I turned around to find a floating bot that quickly started to attack me with lasers as well as his tail.

I did the only thing that felt appropriate for the moment, I forcefully turned around while dragging the bot with me as I inserted one of the keys inside the hollow space.

Once inserted the key did its work and the bot removed its grip on my hand and returned to its usual place.

I walked inside the ship once the door opened for me and found a shadow of a man standing at the corner. He turned around and walked inside.

" Hey," I followed him to end up in a room filled with rows of metal caskets. A few were open while the rest were closed.

I cleaned the glass of the casket beside me to find a mummified body that made me subconsciously step back a bit.

Before I could react to anything else, I once again felt the presence of the man at a corner before he further walked inside.

This time, I ended up in a control room but like before the man vanished in thin air. Like before this time too, I didn't get to carefully inspect the room because I heard a scream of pain at the entrance.

I rushed to the entrance because I realized whose voice it was.

***An hour later, Third-person P.O.V.

" To see you having grown into an adult if only Lara would be here to see it," Jor-el remarked as the command chair rose in the air, clearing the vision between Clark and him.

" Who are you?" Clark turned to look at the man walking in front of him. He couldn't see inside him which implied that this was just a projection.

" I am your father, Kal. Or at least a shadow of him." Jor-el turned to look sideways before continuing," My name was Jor-el."

"And Kal? That's my name. " Clark showed a little smirk as he pointed to himself.

" Yes, Kal-el it is. " Jor-el raised his hand to point at Clark as he nodded.

" I have so many questions." Clark's eyes shimmered with hunger as he looked at Jor-el.

" So do I. You shouldn't suppose to have so many questions." Jor-el pressed his lips as he walked up to Clark.

" What do you mean?" Clark tilted his head.

" You are supposed to be educated about all of this during your childhood by your Uncle." Jor-el stood beside his son.

" My uncle?" Clark turned to his father with confusion.

Jor-el sighed before he began to speak," I know you must have a lot of questions. Where did you come from? Why were you sent here? "

Jor-el used the projection to describe as he talked," You came from krypton. A world with a much harsher environment than Earth's."

" Long ago, in the era of expansion, Our race spread out into the stars seeking new worlds to settle upon. This scout ship was one of the thousands launched in the void."

"We built outposts in other worlds than ours. Using great machines to reshape the environments for our needs. For 100,000 years, our civilization flourished accomplishing wonders."

" What happened?" Clark turned his eyes from the projections to Jor-el.

"Artificial population control was established. The outposts on space exploration were abandoned. We exhausted our natural resources."

"As a result, Our planet's core became unstable. Eventually, our military leader General Zod planned a coup. " He sighed before continuing," But it was too late. "

" Our family, House of El foresaw the calamity. And we took certain measures to ensure our race's survival."

" We took actions behind the back of both Zod and elder council and send 3 members of our house to this planet. "

" Three?" Clark asked as he followed his father as he lead him around the ship.

" Yes, You, your cousin Kara-zor-el and Your youngest uncle Kar-el. Your uncle was responsible for educating you while guiding Kara in her adolescent years. Sadly, It looks like both of them do not manage to find you." Jor-el looked behind the glass as he finished.

" Do you think they are out there somewhere on the planet?" Clark inquired.

" Likely not, Kar-el was like a brother to me, and one of the greatest minds I have seen in my life both in talent and capability. This is the genesis chamber. " Jor-el pointed at the window.

" All Kryptonians were conceived in a chamber such as this. They were predetermined to fulfill a role in our society as a worker, warrior, a leader, and so on. " They kept walking slowly as Jor-el narrated.

" Your mother and I believed that we lost something precious during all of this. The element of choice, of chance. What if a child wished to become something else than what society had destined it?"

" What if the child is aspired to do something greater? You are the embodiment of that belief, Kal. Krypton's first natural birth in centuries. "

" I and kar-el dwelled our hands in politics while your other uncle Zor-el made sure that military was distracted so that you and your cousin could escape to this planet."

" Why didn't you come with me?" Clark felt his throat getting heavier while his eyes started to water.

" We couldn't, Kal. " Jor-el looked downward," Both technically and fundamentally, We couldn't. No matter how much we wanted."

" Your mother and I and others, we were the product of failures of our world as much as Zod was tied to its fate."

" As you can see, and even if we could. the chances of success were almost impossible. We couldn't even successfully send three people even though we were preparing for years just for this."

" Only you were able to reach safely to this planet sadly. Not kara or kar-el are on this planet because if they were then they would have contacted you already." Jor-el spoke in a sober tone.

" So I'm alone" Clark sighed.

" No. You are as much a child of the earth now as you are of krypton. You can embody the best of both worlds. " Jor-el walked to stand in front of Clark.

" A dream that our whole house dedicated our lives to protect. " The egg beside them opened up to reveal a red and blue suit.

" The people of earth are different from us, true. But ultimately, I believe that's a good thing. They won't necessarily won't make the same mistakes that we made even though kar-el thought differently. " Jor-el smiled as he remembered his cousin.

" Not if you guide them, Kal. Not if you give them hope. " He revealed the symbol on his chest," This is what it means, Kal. Hope. Symbol of the house of EL. "

"Embodied in that hope is the fundamental belief that in the potential in every person to be a force for good. That's what you can bring them. " Clark turned to look at the suit beside him.

" Go on, Kal." Jor-el took a step back to make some room.

" I have a question. " Clark revealed the locket from his chest," What is the other key do? "

" I do not know, Kal. " Jor-el smiled, " That was a gift for you that your uncle Kar-el prepared for you. I guess he knew of the possibility that he might be not here with you."

Jor-el waved and one of the floating drones came beside Clark and revealed a space to insert the key.

" Why don't we find out what your uncle left for you?" Jor-el encouraged Clark with a nod before Kal slowly inserted the white key in the drone.
