***Narrator P.O.V.
The helicopter slowly descended before stopping from which fury stepped out. He said something to the pilot and then walked up to Caulson who was patiently waiting for him.
"What's the situation?", Fury asked as they walked inside the facility.
"He was quick to comply with us when the whole force surrounded him in the middle of the road. After that, we brought him here to be monitored 24/7 inside a separate environment." Caulson reported.
"How is he behaving right now?" Fury nodded and continued.
"Not afraid, sir. He is calm and carefree, even whistling. Too calm in fact in his position which worries me a bit." Caulson quickly stepped forward and put his ID on the screen which prompt the door to open. They then continued walking.
"What did you able to find? His identity, his origin, his reason to be here, anything ?" Fury provided his weapons to the officers before moving on.
"Sadly, it is hard to interrogate him. He is not giving any answers if we ask him peacefully stating that we are not capable of talking to him as we don't have enough authority and he will only talk to our top brass."
"What about violence?"
"The agent responsible for doing that ended up with 2 broken finger bones and a crack in his wrist bone. The alien just sat peacefully and let the agent hit him. All the while he had a mocking smile on his face. We tried everything from electric abuse to flooding his cage with water but nothing made him even blink."
"So we have an unkillable being in our hands? What else can he do except for having cockroaches tendencies?" Fury stared at Kar-el sitting inside a white room from the window that separated them. You could only see from the outside through the window.
"We are not sure yet since if he doesn't feel threatened, there is no reason for him to use his other capabilities," Caulson replied.
"Hmm, a guest would be visiting us at any time. Make sure that they feel comfortable with our hospitality while I talk with him." Caulson nodded meanwhile Fury entered the room.
...
Kar-el acted like he doesn't know what happened in the adjacent room and showed a surprised expression when Fury entered inside the glorified cage he was sitting in.
"My agent told me that you are unkillable. I disagree. It's just that we don't know what kills you." Fury slowly walked across the room before taking the seat opposite him with a table in between, "Nick Fury, director of Strategic Homeland Intervention, Enforcement and Logistics Division."
"How important is your Strategic Homeland Intervention, Enforcement and Logistics Division?" Kar-el asked back.
"I have the both President of the United States and the United Nations Security Council head on speed dial at all times." Nick leaned a bit forward.
"Good, you are capable ask me questions to talk to me." Kar-el nodded before fixing his posture and sitting straight.
Nick nodded and pushed some papers he was carrying to the table.
Kar-el eyed them," What are those?"
"These", Nick motioned to the papers with his eyes," Is the precise report on everything you did on this planet since you first showed up. If you want, I can show you the complete record too."
"No need, let's get to the business, shall we? I have no interest in reading what I did in the decade.", Kar-el shook his head.
"What are you?" Nick quickly asked while narrowing his eyes. His voice was deadly serious.
"A Kryptonian." Kar-el matched his pace and answered with an equally serious voice.
"What are you doing here, Kryptonian?"
"I'm stuck in this part of the cosmos," Kar-el told the fabricated story.
"Elaborate," Nick asked while glancing at the window.
Kar-el followed his gaze and smiled," I would warn you to not do that if you don't want your brain to explode from the amount of information my brain contains." Once he was done with that, he returned his gaze to Fury.
"You can see what beyond objects?" Nick raised an eyebrow.
"Not only can I see, but I can also feel him trying to read my surface thoughts. I just warned him because he was trying to dwell deeper. You got quite a skilled telepath." Kar-el entertained Fury while keeping his surface thoughts in check. It was quite hard to lie while in the presence of a telepath as skilled as Charles Xavier. Thankfully, he heeded my warning and did not try to read more than surface thoughts.
Kar-el was not lying too when he said that his head might explode from the influx of information. Kryptonians get quite a boost in intellect under a yellow star and he is considered one of the brightest minds of krypton in terms of thinking capacity alone.
The amount of information his brain processes per second was not something a human brain could handle. Plus, his brain is also one of the entrances to the equation which in itself was something that a normal mind couldn't handle.
"Back to the topic, my race was experiencing a civil war and I had to flee before I ended up dying in the conflict. I chose to travel to an inhabitable planet far from the conflict zone with the help of hyperspace travel but I ended up encountering a glitch that led me inside a wormhole that threw me to god knows how light years away from my home planet to this backward region." Kar-el told Fury half truth while omitting a lot of unnecessary information knowing that Charles was listening.
"Fleeing from civil war... I don't think normal people need to flee from something like that. What were you to your people, prince or something?" Fury first analysis the information before asking sarcastically.
"Yes." Kar-el seriously nodded. Since he was the only one of his race in the universe, he could be whatever he likes. Prince, King, or even a princess. It was not like they know Kryptonian customs.
Plus, he was indeed more special than any average Kryptonian since he has the genesis codex inside him like Kal-el. So, he was not lying technically.
"What were you trying to do with this spaceship?" Fury asked which showed pictures of the crash site.
"I was wondering if I could return to my home cosmos somehow. I spend quite some time researching the wormhole and the way I came here to find a way back. Sadly I am unsuccessfully far." That too was a half-truth. He was indeed looking for a way to see if he could return to his original universe since he promised his family to take care of his niece and nephew.
" We could only find the outside shell at the crash site, what happened to the engine?" That was one of the things that World leaders were interested in knowing because they wish to get their hands on the engine that could fly at such speed.
"Broken into atoms and scattered around that vast universe at this point probably." Kar-el was talking about the space pod he used to flee krypton.
"You don't seem to be very worried about your current situation. While it is true that we can't seem to be able to hurt you, we could still keep you imprisoned. Does that not worry you?" Fury tilted his head while making circles on the table with his finger.
"You can't. Since you are in such a high position, I'm sure that you know about the mutually assured destruction doctrine."Kar-el started.
"What are you getting at?" Fury nodded.
"I'm sure you must be wondering why you didn't notice my presence all these years, well let me tell you."
"You see, my spaceship didn't crash on your planet in the first place. It crashed on the asteroid ring that orbits the earth. Most of the part of the belt remains hidden from the earth because of the angle they are at with the sun. No light gets reflected to earth from them so it's impossible to observe them from here."
"There I built my base of operations with the help of technology that is far more advanced than what you have in here. I only came to this planet because my race is also socially active like Homosapiens and I was feeling lonely by myself." Kar-el mixed a few lies with some truth as he got to the main point.
"The reason why I am so calm and mentioned mutually assured destruction is because I could make those asteroids rain down on earth while sitting here. What do you think will happen if asteroids with a diameter of 5 km crash on earth?"
"Are you threatening us?" Fury asked in a cold tone.
"I was never your captive, director, and never will. I hold the means to destroy the earth if you tried anything unsavory. While it is true that I won't come out unscathed against a nuclear weapon, by then your people's fate would also be decided." Not coming unscathed doesn't mean he can't heal to perfect condition.
There was an uncomfortable silence after Kar-el finished his piece.
"What do you want?" Fury finally asked breaking the silence.
"Refuge on your planet until I find a way back. No monitoring or doing things with my knowledge in relation to my life. Do not think that I won't find out if you do things behind my back. I will. My peoples were far too advanced for their own good."
"Do not worry. I won't freeload. Treat me like a diplomat from krypton. Do not take it lightly, director. Having a diplomat from krypton is a very big deal in the cosmos. We carry enough weight to make galactic empires to re-think their decisions."
"I am aware that Kree had tried to interfere with your planet once. While they were busy fighting a war right now, with time they would once again focus on this solar system."
"At that time, I can prove to be the help that you need the most. Not just that, any incursion force that comes to your planet would have to think of facing the prospect of attacking a Kryptonian too. Last but not least, your planet is at the stage where you are unaware of others in the universe while they are observing you for millennia."
"Knowledge is a form of power. I can be your source of knowledge about the world outside of your solar system. The link that connects you to various races of cosmos."
"Think carefully, director. Go and convince your Superiors to meet my demands lest they end up taking an idiotic decision." Kar-el leaned back on his chair and looked at the window like he was done talking.
...
"Sir...." Caulson hesitated to continue on the topic once Nick exited the room. After all, he was present in the adjacent room with Charles while they were talking.
"Not here, agent." Nick shook his head before motioning him to follow behind. If the Kryptonian could see beyond walls, what gives that he couldn't head beyond walls.
"Where is Professor? ", Nick asked once they were a bit far from Kar-el.
"He left to check on the young lady that we detained as soon as the Kryptonian stopped talking," Caulson reported while passing search results done on her apartment.
Nick quickly looked through them before commenting," Not a single trace of DNA?"
"Yes sir. It appears we are truly dealing with an immortal. We tested and found out that not a single cell in his body is deteriorating." Caulson sighed.
"What about the girl? You said that they performed the act." Nick opened the door to the room in which Charles was present with storm by his side.
"He didn't release any sperms during the act." Caulson nodded at both while replying to fury.
"I would be surprised if he did it. Our common friend is very good at control." Charles smiled as he gave his opinion.
