Chapter:57 Absolute power needs equal control

***Some time ago, Legerdomain

"Via est porro. Via est prolixus. Illic est haudcaput capitis vel solum. Planto oriens perspicuus. Lux lucis via. Ostendo occultus ianua. Nekwaheew! " Charmcaster's voice came from a portal that silently opened in the realm of Legerdomain.

Darkstar and Charmcaster walked through the portal and looked around.

"Why are we here?" Darkstar's helmet muffled his voice.

"To find my uncle, we need him if we want to increase our chances of success at all," Charmcaster distastefully replied.  She has not yet forgotten his betrayal. Darkstar would have long since passed away if she did not need him.

"You don't have to worry about it all. Just fix this for me and I alone would be enough to take care of things." Darkstar bragged, pointing at a piece of Dominus Librium.

"Fixing that is not possible by myself. It would take the cooperation of two master magicians to fix it completely. " Charmcaster replied while working on a spell to locate her uncle as quickly as possible.

She has to be quick before the master of Legerdomain becomes aware of her presence. Normally she wouldn't be worried about him, but since he is in control of the alpha rune, he is too strong of a foe for any magician.

If she succeeds today, she will make him pay for what he did to her father and all her people trapped under his tyranny.

"I found him." She smirked before opening a portal that gave them direct access to the cell where her uncle was locked up.

"My niece, *cough* cough*," Hex looked up.

"What took you so long?" He asked while glancing warily at Darkstar.

"Nice to meet you too, uncle. Come on, we don't have time to bicker right now." Charmcaster opened her pouch and took out the Hex's staff, which she used to break him free.

"Thank you. Mind telling me what he is doing here? " Hex asked, getting up on his feet and walking towards the portal.

"He is an important part of my plan. I will brief you while leaving. You need some time to recover your strength, and I do not want to stay here any longer unless we free our people." She replied, glancing around the place before passing her staff to him.

"What plan is brewing in that head of yours?" Hex asked while greedily absorbing the magic of Legerdomain as they left to recover some of his strength.

"While you were chained to a wall, I was preparing to free our people from the slavery that they had been facing for decades. I was waiting for the perfect opportunity to act, and I finally feel like it was here." She received the piece of dominus Librium from Darkstar and signaled to her uncle.

He glanced at it once before matching eyes with Charmcaster. He then nodded to her and grabbed the other half.

Slowly, they both created a spell that recovered the ancient alien artifact back to its original form.

"One of the aspects just entered our universe. I sensed his aura to be on earth for a few seconds before he controlled it." She detailed how she was quite close to the crash site and ended up sensing it purely on luck.

"Aspects. Your desperation has made you crazy, child. You are talking out of your depths." Hex shuddered in fear as he mentioned them.

"I am not. I know how powerful they are. I wouldn't have even dreamed of it if it weren't for the law that appeared. We both know he is a bit peculiar among his kind." Charmcaster tried to convince him as Darkstar silently watched.

"His lack of understanding of how to use his power, in contrast to others, is well known, despite the fact that he is one of the more powerful of his type. To be more precise, I wish to steal some of his strength, to free our people and exact justice on my father."

Hex sighed and said, "I know you have high regard for your father, and you are not alone. Do you think I'm not vengeful for what that scum did to my brother? I simply hope you're ready to face the repercussions of your actions as well."

"Law might be the most lenient of his kind, but he still holds titles like 'The final judgment', the one who dictates the flow of things,  The face of annihilation, and Anti-life." He warned her one last time.

She nodded and passed the artifact back to Darkstar and warned him, "Do not take my words lightly. The next time you betray me, I will make your life a living hell. "

Darkstar casually nodded, still completely focused on putting the artifact on his neckline.

(Back to the present)

Kar-el narrowed his eyes at the sudden increase of people on the battlefield.

Things are getting out of proportion. Dealing with combatants as big as them would require a much bigger battlefield, but that would risk endangering the lives of people living in nearby towns.

He sighed before a wave was produced from him that traveled with him as an epicenter and covered 100 km around him.

Every person unrelated to the conflicts disappeared as the wave traveled.

Or rather, they disappeared from the regular dimension and entered into the mirror dimension created by Kar-el.

Now, Kar-el wouldn't have to worry about destruction.

Meanwhile, Ben looked at himself in confusion, "Why didn't I transform?"

Before he could notice that the Ultimatrix was on his chest instead of his hand,  a few missiles hit the area around him.

"Ben!!!!" Gwen screamed in anguish as Kevin held her to keep her away from the blast.

"Is he dead?" Ultimate Bigchill hissed at Ultimate Umangasaur.

From the small mushroom cloud, Ben flew out, looking worse than before. Ben was carried by the blast's shockwave and slid down on the rough surface.

His face was full of anguish and pain as every part of his body was bleeding in some way or form. Surprisingly, he was in one piece and still alive.

He was so much in pain that even his screams didn't manifest.

"Still alive, but that's better. Giving you a clean death always felt like too much. Before you die, you should suffer for all the years that we have spent imprisoned on your watch." Ultimate Bigchill declared, slowly floating towards Ben.

"We need to save him." Gwen hastily decided before preparing herself to save him.

"Yes, but from himself," Kar-el remarked, watching this happen beside her.

"What do you mean?" Kevin asked back, noticing that Dr. Paradox hadn't stopped this series of events.

"Right now, his greatest enemy is himself. Kryptonians can be supremely powerful under a yellow star, but it has its downside too. Controlling that much power is no easy task." Kar-el explained, pointing at Ben, whose body started to recover at a speed that is noticeable to the naked eyes.

But instead of facing the incoming rogue ultimate transformations, he was curled up in a fetal position, protecting his ears.

"What's happening to him?" Gwen asked Kar-el now, a bit relieved that her cousin is not in mortal danger.

"Our every aspect becomes supremely charged under a yellow star. Mental abilities, strength, vision, touch, voice, breath, and hearing." Kar-el explained stopping the ultimate cannon bolt that tried to attack them.

He then lifted him up and casually throw him, only for him to fly a few kilometers away before hitting the ground.

"Transitioning into a Kryptonian is no easy task. Imagine what would happen if your whole life you were a human and then one day you were able to hear every single thing that happened in your town." Kar-el glanced at her.

"I will be overwhelmed." Gwen widened her eyes as she glanced at Ben.

"Is he experiencing the same?" Julie asked, worried about her boyfriend.

"Yeah, just raise the bar a few times. He just started absorbing the solar rays, so his senses shouldn't be as strong as mine." Kar-el shrugged as Ultimate Bigchill fired a blast of flaming ice on Ben, effectively freezing him solid.

A few seconds later, the ice exploded, only to reveal Ben, who looked unscathed by the whole ordeal.

"Please be quiet," Ben hissed to himself, subconsciously glancing at Ultimate Bigchill after he attacked him.

His eyes narrowed due to the heavy burden placed on his senses, and a beam of light shot through his eyes, targeting Bigchill.

It phrased right threw him as Bigchill turned intangible, but the heat of the rays still made Bigchill retreat in fear.

"Can we help him somehow? He can't turn back into human form with all these transformations intent on killing him. But remaining in this form isn't an option either given the amount of pressure it puts him under." Gwen pleaded with Kar-el.

"We don't need to do anything yet." Kar-el shook his head, understanding her worries. "Kryptonians are instinctively capable of adapting and controlling the change in their powers. I consider it to be the greatest power we hold."

"I noticed that his transformation is a perfect copy of the DNA scanned by his device. This means all the instincts also transferred to him after transformation. All he needs to do now is to train that instinct, and a fight is the best possible option to train that instinct."

True to Kar-el's word, the desperation of protecting his life gave Ben enough motivation to stand up on his legs once again.

Ultimate Swarmfire and Ultimate Umagasaur came running to assist Ultimate Bigchill after seeing that he alone could not deal with Ben.

Swarmfire fired a blazing jet of blue flames at Ben, Causing Ben to widen his eyes in fear and try to dodge the blast.

Alas, Ben underestimated his strength as he tried to jump sideways, only for him to shoot like a speeding bullet, and hit a boulder.

He made a hole in said boulder in the shape of his body and got drilled inside of it. He grunted while trying to get out of it, as Umagasaur was upon him and about to punch both him and the boulder altogether.

The boulder folded like a ball of dough under his arms as Ben freed himself from it.

Time slowed down for him or rather his reflexes got so fast that he could see Umagasaur's fist approaching him at a snail's pace.

He took a deep breath still feeling a bit on edge from the constant sensory information he was getting but it was now a bit bearable.

His eyes roamed the battlefield to judge its status which allowed him to notice the new arrivals.

Charmcaster, Darkstar, and Hex were watching the whole fight from the periphery of the battlefield while keeping an eye on Gwen and her group.

Seeing that Kar-el was beside them and was looking right at him relieved him of some of his worries. Surely, if he noticed the new arrivals, he did too.

"Try to focus on the area around you and let all other noises die down," Kar-el whispered, advising Ben and nodding at him.

Ben fixed his stance and gained steady support from the ground before grabbing the punch coming his way and pulling it towards him as he spun clockwise and then threw the 5-meter-tall alien into the air.

Umagasaur roared in anger as the inertia carried him more than 100 meters before he collapsed to the ground.

Ben jumped from where he stood, leaving cracks on the ground, and took to the air toward the unsuspecting Swarmfire.

His brain constantly analyzes the situation he is in and the cause of it.

Swarmfire tried to protect himself by creating a wall of fire between him and Ben, only for Ben to take a deep breath and release such high-pressure air that the temperature around him fell to -40 degrees.

"Violence is not the answer. I understand how you feel betrayed. I'm still trying to figure out how you're even alive, but I'm confident we can come up with a solution that doesn't entail bloodshed." Ben attempted to persuade Swarmfire. He was hoping for him to relax a little.

"There is no other option. We would be locked inside Ultimatrix forever unless you die, and we will not give up our freedom." Swarmfire yelled fiercely after which a few floating discs encircled Ben and released waves of pure sound waves.

Ben struggled to stand, clutching his ears, when Kar-el decided to assist him.
