Don't you trust your dad?

SABINE

I can't breathe, I am so overwhelmed by so many conflicting emotions right now it's hard to keep my composure. "Sabine" my father repeats walking towards me, it seems so unreal that he is here right in front of me that I do not complain as he walks towards me, no word leaves my mouth I just watch him. But the moment we touch and he pulls me into a very familiar and incredibly warm hug everything comes crashing down and everything I feel at that time comes out as tears.

"I miss you bunny" he whispers beside my ear and I am unable to stop the sobs that hurt the back of my throat as they escape my lips or the way my body wracks as I am surrounded by his warm embrace. I hate this man, I despise him for everything he had done abandoning his children to just disappear and leaving a mountain of debt in his absence. For so long I have tried to understand him but I simply cannot yet I love him still, and worse I missed him. How can I forget his comforting words and assuring smile, even this was how badly I missed his hugs?

"Dad" I cry desperately, my shaky hands rising to wrap around his body, I clutch on to him for dear life.

"I'm right here bunny, I'm right here."

After a long tearful moment and another long moment after that, I finally managed to stop crying. Currently, we were sitting in the waiting room in silence.

"How to have-"

"How long-"

We speak at the same time, "go ahead" I say.

My father nods and clears his throat before he began to speak again but something pops in my mind and I blurt it out before he speaks "have you been along to see the younger ones?" I ask.

And my father smiles, "you are going to have to stop referring to your younger already teenage brothers a the little ones." And I pout "there are little, Sebastian is just thirteen and Sevas is only ten. They are little and they have missed you. You did go to see them first right?"

"Right?" I ask again as he did not answer the first time. "Dad!" I yell and he raises his hands in surrender.

"Look, I cannot visit them, you know my situation. The loansharks are looking everywhere for me, I cannot show my face in public. How could I go there and out my precious boys in trouble?"

"Still, I am glad to see you but if I had to choose I would say you should have gone to them first. They miss you so much, do you know they changed schools?"

"Look Sabine I can't talk about the boys right now, do you have any money I can quickly borrow?" He asks and I begin to remember why I hate this man.

"Is that really all you care about? Really?" I ask my ire rising.

"Come on Sabine, you must be making a lot of money working in this house come on borrow your dad some." He pleaded desperately

"The only money I have now is for Sebastian's school fees he got admitted into a science high school and he is going next semester," I inform him coldly, making sure to make the disdain in my voice obvious.

"That's perfect then. You can give it to me and I'll make sure to return it to you before you need to use it."

My face remains blank and I remain unmoving "come on bunny, don't you trust your dad?"

"You never paid back the money you took the last time, and the money I had been saving for so long was taken by the loansharks you borrowed from, Dad."

"I promise to pay it all back, em? Look, isn't it dad? I know I have been a terrible father of late but I am trying so hard to redeem myself but how am I to do that if you don't let me?"

"But dad…"

"I promise I'll pay it all back, I will never allow my son to be kicked out of school okay?" He assures me.

"Fine, I'll trust you just this once. Do you promise to pay back? The next semester isn't far from now you promise right?"

"Of course!"
