Dragons

While Alice and Lyna were talking in the library, the first prince was cursing alone in the palace's garden.

"That dammit bi*ch! How did she dare to do this to me? I will f***ing kill her!"

He was holding tight his right hand while the pain of the phantom hand was tormenting him.

After Alice left the throne room, William was bandaged and the hemorrhage was stopped but his severed arm couldn't be attached back. Although they used magic to close the wound, reattaching someone's lost arm was beyond the capabilities of even an A-rank doctor.

When he heard that his hand couldn't be healed, the hatred inside William exploded and he wanted to go and kill Alice immediately but even his father stopped him.

"You're not allowed to do anything to her!"

"But father! She cut off the hand of a royal prince! Are you going to just watch without doing anything?!"

The king's face was red from anger but even he couldn't do anything to her.

"The matter is settled! I will try to invite someone that can heal you from the neighbor country, just go and don't cause any trouble!"

William couldn't believe that even his father turned his back at him and continued to swear alone in the garden.

"That f***ing geezer! Why is he a king if he can't even take care of a single omen!?"

The hatred inside him continued to grow and he was thinking of a method to resolve his problems when the silhouette of a black man come out of the ground and scared William so hard that he fell on his butt with a terrified expression.

"W-who are you? Guards! Guards!?"

The silhouette didn't have eyes or a nose and it was completely black but even so, a mouth with some white sharp teeths appeared and formed a large smile.

"Don't worry... I'm not here to harm you, on the contrary, I want to make all your wishes true!"

William looked at the creepy silhouette but even if he was scared he couldn't stop his curiosity.

"What are you talking about?"

The smile on that thing's face become even larger and answered with a tempting thone.

"I can give you the power not just to take revenge... even everyone in this country would kneel in front of you... money, power, or any women you want... you can have them all if you accept my powers!"

The dark silhouette extended his hand and William looked at it. All he needed to do is to take it and all his wishes will become true. He wasn't thinking straight anymore and his eyes become black. A creepy laugh come out of his mouth before he took that shadow's hand.

"Very well... make me stronger than anyone else!"

Under the feets of that thing, pitch-black shadows come out and engulfed the first prince while the silhouette disappeared back into the ground.

"As you wish!"

After they heard the explosion sounds, Alice and Lyna come out of the castle and the image outside was completely unexpected.

Around the royal capital, the defending magi barrier was activated and thousands of black, distorted monsters split fire on it.

The citizens were in panic and screamed while the city guards tried to calm them down but to no avail until the knight commander come.

"Everyone please don't panic! The magic barrier defended the capital for hundreds of years. Please evacuate in order, to the palace until we clean these monsters! In the worst case, we will protect you with our life so trust us!"

After the words of the knight commander, the citizens calmed down and started to move quickly towards the palace while some guards maintained the order.

The royal magicians in front with the Head Magician David also come out of the castle and ran towards the city's walls to assist the knight.

Lyna and Alice watched all of this from the distance. All that chaos made Lyna have a worried face but Alice didn't even pay attention to what happened inside the walls and kept looking at the flying monsters. Lyna noticed her gaze and looked at the monsters too.

"Alice, do you know what those things are?"

Alice took off her eyes from the monsters and looked at Lyna while answering with a casual tone.

"They are dragons."

"Dragons?"

Lyna screamed at the hearing of a legendary name written just in the oldest books in the castle.

"But how is this possible? I heard that they disappeared thousands of years ago! How did they appear here and that many too?! Are we really doomed?"

"The dragons died a long time ago, even before my birth. Even so, the things before your eyes are indeed real dragons."

Lyna looked at Alice trying to understand what she was talking about but what she told her was beyond her understanding.

"Don't look so confused, although these things are indeed dragons, they are already dead. I can't feel any vitality from them. They are just dead monsters controlled by someone nearby."

"If they are just corpses doesn't that mean that we still have a chance to win? They shouldn't have the strength from their prime!"

A glimpse of hope appeared in Lyna's heart but Alice just shattered it immediately.

"Although they aren't as strong as they used to be, a dragon is still a dragon."

After she finished this sentence, one of the dead dragons accumulated an enormous amount of magical power in his mouth and attached the barrier, breaking it like a piece of glass. Other dragons did the same and the barrier that protected the kingdom for so many years was destroyed in a couple of minutes.

At the sight of the barrier breaking, the order between the citizens disappeared. They run and pushed themselves making the situation more chaotic and even the city's knights looked at the dead dragons flowing in like flock of birds with terror in their eyes.

Soon, the fire from the dragons's breath quickly speared through the city making the proud royal capital looking like the hell on earth.
