Chapter 2:

Arriving at school as our happy little trio with the wondering Kyle, I kept looking over my shoulders. I felt as if someone was watching. I been getting that feeling for a while now. Ever since spring, I feel eyes on me. Which I do have on me every day, but when I turn around and feel the burning sensation from the stares. It is either Mike or a glimmering golden light.

"What are you looking at, babe?" Wade asked after seeing me look over my shoulder for the tenth time in the last five steps.

"I just have this sensation that I am being watched."

"Well, that might be the fact that you have grown a lot in a lot of different ways," Kyle pointed out with a sly smile and in return he got a nasty, jealous look from Wade. "What it's true? You can't honestly expect people to just ignore the fact that in the last several weeks she has grown certain aspects and lost a lot of weight."

"Hey!" I snapped.

"I'm sorry, Eve, but it's true. Look at you," he said, gesturing to my body. "If I did not know you, I would think that you are the meanest girl around and could eat me. You are even intimidating some of the guys at school."

"Is this true? Have I changed that much? I haven't even noticed," I said, looking down at my lightly golden body and my well-defined arms and legs.

"Unfortunately, he is right. You've changed," Theresa said.

"But in the best possible way," Wade said, snuggling up to me.

"But I don't know why. If anything, I should be gaining weight; I have been eating like a goat. I am hungry all the time."

"Do you work out?" Theresa asked.

"No, my work out is sleeping on the couch," I joked.

"Fast metabolism, I guess," Kyle said.

"But still, this is ridiculous. I just want to yell at the top of my longs and tell everyone to stop. Everyone is acting like Mike," I exclaimed.

"Well, if it is that bad you might want to. No one wants to be near Mike unless it is to date one of her brothers," Theresa joked.

"Well, then I band you from being near her," Wade said as he held onto my hand.

"It is just strange," I said. The school bell went off. Kyle let out a low moan. "It is almost over," I said as we entered our homeroom and headed to our seats.

For me, I sat down by Mike. She was doing her normal routine of doodling in her notebook. She tells the teacher she is working on homework, but everyone knew better. However, no one could do anything about it because she knows everything it seems.

Today I looked over to the notebook and notice that there were wolves and… I guess witches, due to the black clothes and hats. They looked as if they were dueling. I tried to get a better look, but she must have noticed me looking at her paper because she quickly hid it and whispered, "Not yet my savior."

"Huh?" I whispered as I stared at her.

She then looked at me with a smirk and I instantly regretted looking at her paper and catching her attention.

I sighed at the thoughts that she was a teenager like me. I mean sometimes she acts like a normal teen but other times it as if she has seen God before or is from generations ago. The things she says is just a little too crazy for my liking.

Clearing his throat my teacher brought my attention back to him, he was telling us about the next years and what we had to look forward too.

I honestly was getting a little tired of it, so I took a little cat nap.

The school bell went off, waking me from my slumber and symbolizing that our middle school lives were over. Now we were full grown freshmen and in high school. I could not wait to tell Mom or even keep secrets from her… or maybe go through a rebellious stage. I have more options now and I am ready to cause trouble. I chuckled as I left my classroom.

As I was about to walk out the front doors of the school building, Mike stopped me in my tracks and said, "I am sorry for your loss. And I will see you again, my savior."

"What?" I laughed as she seemed to disappear into thin air. I wanted to make sense of it but at the same point it was Mike and who knows what she is up too.

Once I was clear of the school, a giant hand rested on my shoulder. I was thrown off guard. I reacted by throwing an elbow and hitting Major in the chest. He was thrown off guard as he fell to the floor.

"Are you okay?" I asked, caring about him for once in my life.

"I am fine," he said with tears in his eyes as he dusted himself off. Looking at me with red eyes he said, "Let's go home."

I tried to study his actions and make sense as to what was going on. As we got into the car, he broke into tears. "What's it?" I asked as he let his head hang low.

"Your mother is gone," he said, balling into his hands.

I nervously laughed as he cried. I figured it would make him stop this sick game, but he kept crying. "What do you mean she is dead? This is not the time to make jokes, Major," I yelled at him.

He stumbled to say, "She died at the hospital she worked at. A man came in and shot up the place. Your mom did all she could to stop others from getting hurt."

"Wait, wait, wait… Mom is actually dead?" I asked.

Major continued, "The man is now in jail and your mom is in the funeral home. Do you want to go see her?"

"What kind of joke is this, Major?"

"It's not a joke, Eve," he said as he looked up at me with red eyes. "Do you want to go see her?"

"Yes, I want to see her," I yelled. "This sick game of yours needs to end!"

"Okay," Major said as he pulled away.

"Okay? Why are you sticking with this sick twisted joke?" I yelled at him. I was so angry with him that I kind of blacked out from this game.

On our way to the "funeral home," I kept getting text messages and notifications, but I ignored them. I didn't want my anger to get the best of me. As we pulled up to the funeral home, Major said, "Come on, my little Eve."

"Excuse me," I said as he got out of the car.

I stared at him as we walked up. His eyes were blood shot and he wanted to hold my hand. "What's going on, Major?!" I yelled.

As the door opened to the massive depressing hallway, the funeral home director said, "Belle, I'm sorry for your lost."

I was so confused. Major had put a lot of work in this sick game. "Okay, Major. You can stop now," I said.

"We would like to see her," Major said.

"Right this way," the man said as we walked downstairs into a small room where Mom was.

I rushed over to her and saw the gunshots and blood stains on her skin. "Nice job with this joke. It is not April First. We can stop with this game," I chuckled.

"It's not a joke," Major said as he cried into the director's shoulder.

"Ha-ha…" I laughed nervously. "Mom, come on," I said as I felt her cold body. "Mom?" I raised my hand to my face, and I realized that everything that was in front of me was real. "This isn't a game…she… she's gone," I whimpered, falling to the floor, and starting to cry.

"I am truly sorry for your lost," the man said as I stayed in a ball on the floor.

I reached up for Mom's hand as I felt the cold dead feeling of her. All the warmth that Mom had… was gone. She was cold, lifeless, and turning blue. "Mom, "I whimpered.

"I will give you a few minutes," the man said as he left.

Major joined me on the floor as I held onto her hand and cried. I started going numb with what was going on. Everything that I knew and had in my life was gone. My mother… my friend… my everything was on a metal table with dried blood all over her and who was ice cold.

"Come on," Major said as he helped me to my feet. "We have things to do."

"But," I said softly.
