Abandoned by his family at an early age, Josh seeks to become a great magician.

But after so many years of testing himself in the identifying orb, he still got no innate element identified.

With failing scores, he is not hopeful to pass the entrance examination for magic academies or the technical ones. 

Since he got literally nothing to lose anymore, except his stuffed toy Polar Panda, he decided to go and do the test.

And to his surprise, he passed the exam and got admitted in not just any magic or technical academy, but the advanced magic academy.

Magic Null

Josh entered his room on the fourth-floor ninth room.


The room is very spacious. On the side to his left, a huge plaque is attached.

Josh read the instruction carefully and sure enough, it was easy for him to understand.


He did not immediately go to awaken as he is afraid that he gets nothing just like on the identifying orbs that he was tested with when he was in high school.


After continuing his rough and large breathings for half an hour, Josh got up and walked toward the center to where the awakening orb is. He looked at it determinedly.


His double eyelid and slit eyes stared at the orb. His dark grey eyes looked very serious. He pursed his healthy reddish color lip. He breathed one last time through his small and pointy nose, although not much seemed to enter it, he still filled his lungs with much air. He held his breath.


With his trembling and wet hands, he reached out to the orb.


Then he finally placed his palm on top of it. He closed his eyes and felt a very cold sensation entering his body. He did not put away his arm as this was said in the process.


Suddenly, Josh calmed down. No pursing of lips. No holding of his breath. Even his hands stopped trembling. Josh felt no emotion. It was not calm nor peaceful, he feels literally nothing.


After minutes have passed, a mark seemed to materialize on his body. Underneath his shirt, on top of his left chest, and just below the collar bone, a grey-colored outline of a small snake appeared.


Josh opened his eyes and he said with no thought,


When he fully recovered his emotions, he got the shock of his life.


'I just said 'null'. Null… null... NULL! I have an element!'


'Wait… do I have an element? It's null… But I have a mark, so I'm sure I awakened.'


Josh left his room with excitement and got to the first floor. Upon descending. He saw that everyone was done on their awakening, and he thought that he is most likely the only left one.


"And with that guy over there, your batch awakening is done. Even if we don't ask you your elements, we will have a record of that based on the prominent element in each of your rooms. All of this should have been done by the array set up and already recorded to our database. Although very rare, there might be unique element sprouting, so we will just have our experts and you record it in our database. In such case, we will call you later."


"This is for the safety of the academy. We need to monitor our students and professors. And even the visitors that have come here for awakening."


"That's all from me. You should go back to the fountain and have Rowick guide you. Bye!"
