8 Avril, you can't panic now!

Avril's POV

Emily's a good girl.

She doesn't hold a grudge against me for bullying her in the past, so I'm very grateful.

After we ate, I said to Emily very sincerely, "Emily, we're friends now, so if you need any help, feel free to call me."

Emily smiled and nodded, her eyes narrowed into two lines like cute little mice.

As Emily and I were exchanging contact information, Marcia called me.

I hung up on her without hesitation.

I know that she must be upset and angry at this moment that I am not at her mercy and control as I was in my previous life.

But why should I care what she thinks?

My purpose is to make it unpleasant for her, isn't it?

With that thought, I just turned my phone off and waved goodbye to Emily.

However, the next day, when I walked through the doors of the school, I felt a strange atmosphere.

A group of people gathered to look at their phones, whispering about something.

I approached them to see what they were talking about.

"That Emily girl seems like an innocent on the surface, but the truth is that her private life is rotten to the bone, obviously having a mate and hanging out with other wolves"

"Is this true?"

"Of course it's true. If you don't believe me, check out the school forum. Someone has posted so many pictures of Emily having sex with different guys!"

Hearing their chatter, I stood still for a moment, not believing my ears.

What's going on here?

Why did the fake scandal of Emily's previous life come to light earlier?

What exactly caused this to happen early?

Is it because I contacted Emily early?

My heart started to get heavy thinking about it.

It seems that even though I've been reborn, some things are no longer the same as they were in my previous life.

I regret that I was so careless.

However, it doesn't matter.

I'm not gonna let Marcia get away with it this time.

However, just as I was about to return to class, I heard someone call out to me from behind: "Avril!"

I looked back to find Marcia catching up with me.

"Did you hear about Emily?" Marcia asked me, pretending she wasn't the killer.

I thought to myself, of course, I've heard of it.

After all, you're the one spreading all this.

But I hid my inner thoughts and acted innocent, "I just heard about it, but I don't think it's possible. Emily doesn't seem like that kind of person. Someone should be trying to set her up, right?"

Actually, what I'm trying to say is that Marcia is the one who set Emily up.

My gaze made Marcia a little weak, but she tried to convince me sincerely anyway: "I think it's best if you try to keep your distance from Emily. She's a person who doesn't understand morals and she doesn't deserve to be friends with any of us!"

Hearing that made me sneer inside.

Marcia used to cajole me like that all the time.

She's very good at spreading rumors.

In a previous life, after she ended her own life by causing Emily's mental breakdown with her rumors, she used the same method to convince the committee that I was a man who would bring disaster to them.

Jealousy makes Marcia as scary as the devil.

It's just a shame that in my previous life I was so deceived by her false face that I didn't discover this ugly side of her until I died.

I secretly swore in my mind when I thought of the tragic fate that had befallen me in my previous life.

Now that God has given me a chance to come back, I must change Emily's fate and free her from the clutches of the demon that is Marcia.

"Avril, what's on your mind?" Marcia noticed that I hadn't said anything and waved her hand in front of me.

I snapped out of my musing and nodded, "I understand. I won't get too close to Emily in the future."

Marcia breathed a sigh of relief. "That's good. If you need any help in the future, you can come to me."

I nodded slightly and said, "It's almost time for class! Let's go to class."

However, in the back of my mind, I was thinking that I had to see Emily right away and help her with these rumors.

But when I walked to the classroom, I didn't see Emily.

I heard she was taken away by her psych teacher.

I know Emily will be fine for now, but after this, Marcia is sure to take harsher action to ruin Emily!

My mind was a mess with these thoughts.

I said to myself.

Avril, you can't panic now!

Now only you can help Emily, and as the hero who saves her, you have to be calm to do so.

Just as I was contemplating how I was going to help Emily, the class bell rang.

Professor Grace came in, with her thick glasses and the serious expression of an old hag.

To be honest, I hated Professor Grace as much as she hated me.

When Professor Grace began her lecture and her eyes fell on me.

I know, she must be trying to embarrass me again!

Unsurprisingly, Professor Grace tapped the board and said to me, "Avril, you answer this."

Everyone's eyes turned to me.

I knew that they must be gloating waiting for me to make a fool of myself.

Professor Grace would come up with some really hard questions for me to answer every time, and if I couldn't answer them, she would tell me to get the hell out of the classroom.

This time, it will be no exception.

I looked closely at the question on the board, and it was a really hard question that I would not have been able to answer if it had been before.

But I'm not the Avril I used to be.

In the next few seconds, I answered the question methodically through a thorough analysis.

Also, I said two different solutions to the problem, which surprised everyone.

I can guess from their wide-open eyes that they must be thinking, God, is this still the same stupid and chicklet-like Avril?

At this moment, I was secretly glad that the knowledge I had learned in my previous life at the human university was enough to handle such a difficult situation.

"Very well. It looks like you've had a hard time reviewing your homework, and I hope you do as well on this class quiz."

Apparently, Professor Grace had intended to lecture me on purpose, but she hadn't expected my answer to be so perfect, so perfect that she couldn't find any mistakes.

She had no choice but to encourage me.

This time my performance in class surprised not only Professor Grace greatly, but Marcia as well.

It was just after class when she ran up to me and hypocritically asked, "Avril, how do you know the answer?"

I thought to myself, "Isn't that a simple question?

If Marcia is already jealous now, she'll probably go crazy with jealousy later because of me.

I pretended to be lucky and said, "It's nothing, I just got lucky this time. I just happened to see the answer to this question written in Emily's textbook yesterday. Who knew the teacher would ask that question today!"

I even patted myself on the chest. "Thanks to the gods of luck being on my side. Otherwise, I would have died a horrible death! How could I be like you? Marcia, you're beautiful and your grades are great. I'm so jealous of you."

I looked at Marcia with envy on my face.

I know that Marcia would be very proud when I say that.

Because, in her heart of hearts, she believed that to be the truth.

Just as I was talking to Marcia, Emily came back.

From the moment she walked into the classroom, the class was silent.

More importantly, they deliberately stayed away from Emily as if they were avoiding snakes and scorpions.

Some people even pointed the finger at Emily.

"Emily, how can you even have the nerve to come back?!"

"Slutty she-wolf, if you get too close to us, others might mistake us for the same."

"Come on, get the hell out of here. ..."

I could clearly see the look of pain and disappointment on Emily's face when she heard those vile words.

She lowered her head and seemed to give up the struggle.

I witnessed all this and still felt a vague sense of sympathy in my heart.

I think she must have thought no one would believe her.

But in fact, she was wrong.

I know she's innocent.

However, I wasn't going to support Emily during this time.

That's because I'm only going to make Marcia more jealous, which will only make things worse.

After school at lunch, Marcia invited me to dinner.

I didn't want to be with her at all, so I tried to decline subtly. "No, I'm having lunch with Anthony at noon."

Marcia couldn't help but cringe when she heard that I was going to be eating with Anthony.

When I said that, I had served my purpose.

I know that Marcia must be jealous of me right now, more than she is of Emily.

Unsurprisingly, Marcia, with her face twisted, no longer had the heart to pay attention to Emily.

As if she had lost her memory she forgot the attitude she had told me at my dad's birthday party and said to me with a smile, "Avril, how can you forget your best sister just because you have a man? In the past, you couldn't live a day without me, but now that you have a mate, you choose to abandon me every time. Aren't you afraid I'll be angry?"

I smiled falsely, "Oh, what am I supposed to do? Anthony and I already have an appointment first."

As soon as Marcia heard my answer, she threw her arms around me like a spoiled child. "Why don't you take me with you to dinner with Anthony? I'm hungry too."

I have to say, Marcia's cheek is thicker than the bottom of my shoe.

She knew very well that Anthony was my partner, yet she still made such a rude request.

"This ... is not very convenient." If it had been the old me, I would not have dared to refuse her request.

But right now, I don't want to make her feel that easy.

Sure enough, when she heard that, Marcia couldn't contain her anger at all, and she looked at me with wide eyes, "Why? Avril, you've changed! Didn't you use to hate being with Anthony? You're a completely different person now!"

I thought to myself, "Yes, I am indeed a different person.

The stupid me of the past have long since been killed by the vicious Marcia, and now stands here as the smart-me who wants revenge.
