27 - Grey

A lot had happened since that night. The cast came off and the bitterness that's been eating through my soul all this time had changed into pure heartache. I'm losing all my senses when I'm seeing them together, dreaming about a day where she'd be mine again but that's just a fantasy. I know it and she knows it too, the time where we were attached to the hips is now officially something of the past. It hurts more then I care to admit and seeing her so happy without me hurts even more. A couple of days ago I've swallowed my pride and asked Juvia to accompany me to the school dance. The joy that was plastered upon her features was enough to momentarily erase everything else from my memory and for a bit my heart was at ease. Imagining nobody else but Juvia dancing the night away within the hollow of my arms, dressed up in a gown; befitted for a Queen. All that's been crossing the lips from the kids at FTH these days are the dance and which couple co-ordinations they would follow. Even Jellal maned up for the event and asked Erza to be his date for the evening that would change our lives for the good. It's the night that would mark the beginning of the rest of our lives. The last big thing before graduation.

Natsu:

Guess my surprise when Luce asked me to accompany her to the formal dance since I've worked all night long on the perfect speech. As much as I would have loved to ask her, how can I deny her this. The entire thought of her jumping the gun was kinda cute, if I have to admit. I've come to learn how nervous she is especially after learning that this would be the first dance she'll be going to after the breakup, with Grey, since she started out at FTH. The least that I can do is make it a night worth remembering. She color coordinated me: Purple and black. I will pick her up at her family house at precisely half past six this evening, as a request from her mother and sister. Apparently they want to have a photo shoot before we leave for the event tonight. I can hardly believe that it's that time already, I thought as I look up at the clock. I turn my attention back towards the man in the mirror and it rewards me with a broad smile. "I can do this," I convince myself. The door open and I swing around at my brother's voice: "You ready bro?" I nod. "August will be your driver this evening and afterwards we'll escort her back home, seeing how August will leave earlier tonight due to an appointment that he needs to attend so he has tomorrow off," my brother explains. Quite understandable, just wish that I could have introduced them to each other under other circumstances. I don't even know if I'm ready for her to be introduced to my brother, not yet anyways. His history might scare her away from me. Enough about those depressing thoughts, I think to myself as I pass him in the doorway.

Lucy:

I move into the room. A bright lilac dress clinging to my slender form, the ribbon-details in french violet, the same color as the shirt that Natsu would be wearing underneath his black tux. My hair's up in a fancy french braid with tiny silver butterflies kissing my head. Six inch stilettos swallowing up my feet to meet Natsu's height. The makeup that's smooching my complexion is in shades of nude, it royally fits me like a glove. A hand went up to my mother's mouth as a single tear escaped her eye. "Oh, my baby girl looks like an angel," she whispers. A knock to the door pulls my sister's attention away from me. "Right on time," mom says. "I'll get it," Michelle assures us. Mom stares at me for a while longer before clearing her throat, "Take a moment to compose yourself, my dear. I'll tell him that you'll be down in a minute." I nod at my mother in appreciation. "This is it, there's no more turning around. I can do this," I prepare myself mentally before heading out the door.

As my eyes met his from the top of the staircase, all my worries vanished. I'm even more sure of myself, knowing that I indeed want to spend this evening with him. He looks so handsome in his attire that I need to force the bush away. I don't know what tomorrow will hold in her hands for us, but let's start with now. Once I've reached Natsu's side; my mother and sister took, what seems like, hundreds of photos. Cooing about what a cute couple we make and thinking about things that's far to advanced for the moment. Some small talk that would make the blush reappear instantly. Let's not go down that road yet and enjoy the evening while it lasts.

A limousine is parked out front, ready and waiting to take us to the dance. I can hardly believe how much thought Natsu has put into this day, making it a night worth remembering. Natsu introduced me to the driver: August. He bows slightly before saying as he held a door open for me, "May I say how absolutely beautiful you look, Miss Lucy." I smile widely at his kind gesture while thanking him wholeheartedly.

Zeref:

"Are you okay love?" Mavis asks me as she lays a hand softly upon my shoulder. "Not by a long run, Natsu is sure to disown me by the end of this event," I quipped with a heavy heart. She sits down on my knee and looks down into my eyes. "We both know that you should have confronted him about the matter ages ago, the truth always has a way of setting itself free but feeling so down on yourself isn't going to change anything," she stated. I can tell that she's trying to encourage me with words of hope but it's not really working. "You know what would take my mind away from everything that's sure to follow within the next 24hours?" I question her, a lustful gleam within my eyes. Mavis lays in closer and place her lips softly against mine. I pull her closer towards the hardness of my body. There's only one thing, person, who could take my attention away from this and that's her. I will just have to deal with that other issue later on…
