Almighty Betrayal

Jeha was breastfeeding her child. As of now, she has given-up all hope. What could she do? Nothing... Absolutely nothing. The demon was dangerous. It had already planted sheer fear in the heart of villagers. Even if she pleaded, it won't work. The villagers had given up many children in these past few years. So, for them an additional one doesn't bring any sympathy. Running away was also not possible. The villagers won't let her go away. For them, more sacrifice is always better. Somehow within these three years, this village has transformed into a farm where children are harvested.

She could not look at her baby's bright eyes. She felt guilty. Due to Ron's special position as a successful merchant, his eldest child was made an exception and was not in any danger. But even the villagers wouldn't make any more exceptions. Nowadays, she was filled with regret. She regretted breaking the oath, she regretted having an affair and most of all, she regretted following Rom. But what can she do? The wheel of time had already spun.

...

It is kind of weird seeing the villagers readily sacrificing small lives and lamenting on their misfortune as if it was them who lost their life. This world was not so kind after all. It seems, wherever cultivation was possible, there would be loose order... or let's say, chaos.

...

It has been few days since my birth. In this time period, I had been doing nothing but drinking milk and sleeping. Had I been peeing? I don't know. Maybe while I was asleep, I may have done it, but who cares, I am a newborn infant after all.

Today, I am fairly awake. I am finally able to move my head a little. I have found out that this world is rather similar to my old one. At least the houses are similar. Even the pieces of furniture are similar. But they were rather outdated. Maybe my family is poor.

I also found out that the people here were pretty strong. As expected of a cultivation world! But I am surprised, as I haven't seen any cultivator till now.

...

Today morning, my mother took me outside. I found out that everything here is normal. Every house was like a traditional house with some modern finish up. Anyway, it looked nice. The best thing was a pagoda-like structure in the middle of the village. I liked it very much because it glowed golden as if it was made of gold.

My mother carried me and kneeled before the temple's door. I was curious so I looked inside and saw a statue. It looked like a strong man wearing armor and holding a guandao. It looked super cool and it also glowed golden.

But there is a problem. I was getting disappointed with this cultivation world. The thing is, the man was not handsome at all. He was a god so he should be handsome. But it seemed that not all the peoples are handsome or beautiful after all.

Anyway, I don't know why, but my mother started to tear up. Well, I am not surprised, it has happened many times. I also made a few guesses about it. But that was a waste of time. Moving in an infant's body is pretty hard. I can't move...that's not a problem, I don't want to cry...dust went in my eyes, and I don't want to pee in bed...I can't help it... but I am an adult. Maybe not physically, but mentally I am.

...

I had a pretty bad memory about peeing in bed. I peed in bed till I was in nearly a teenager. It would have been fine if it was at home but I used to live in a hostel at that time. Can anybody imagine my hardship...

Then everything went in its natural course as it should, and that natural course was rather bumpy.

Then I fell asleep.

...

I dreamed of moving mountains... splitting the sea... bathing in the sun... and... I got disturbed. Someone was moving me. So, I woke up, looked up, and saw the most beautiful sky I had ever seen. The sky was full of twinkling stars, bright moonlight, and rustling tree leaves.

...

'Wait a minute, a rushing tree, night sky, outside?' I was confused.

'I am in a forest?'

'Is this a dream?'

'Are dreams this realistic in infant days?'

'Why do I feel like I have been kidnapped?'

'Am I being too paranoid?'

'Someone, pinch me!!!'

I was scared. I didn't know what happened. My inner monologue was scaring me more and more. Somehow, I got the strength to move my head. So, I twisted my small head and looked around...and started crying. My crying seemed to wake other children in the carriage. Likewise, they were also confused.

'Where is my bed?' they thought. Then they also started crying.

Now I am confused.

'What is this? Kidnapping in bulk? How come no one noticed?'

As I was thinking about my circumstances, the cart stopped. There was a loud thud. Then the door opened and a guy walked in. He was pretty bulky like a mass-builder. Seeing him I stopped crying.

'I hope I am not drawn in some evil plot. Did the kidnappers captured us to train from a young age to be some Dao soldiers...assassins.'

'Or am I a... *gulp*...sacrifice?'

...

The bulky man was one of the city guards. Currently he was feeling pretty complicated. He didn't want to come here. He didn't want to drive a cart carrying children who are about to be sacrificed. But he was helpless. And finally, he didn't want to be the person who will offer sacrifice to the demon. But he was forced. After all, he may seem bulky but he is rather weak. He looked at the children with sadness, lamenting their misfortune and left towards the village leaving them alone in a middle of the forest.

...

At that moment our protagonist seemed to have understood his circumstance. He understood why his mother always cried and didn't look at him properly throughout this time. He understood why his so-called father was ignoring him.

He then looked at the sky and thought.

'Is this the almighty betrayal from where the lucky hero gets his power?'

'Why is it that I don't feel anything?'

'Was everything I read till now, a scam?'
