3- Peak mortal realm, starting blood sacrifice

-

Carl sighed hopelessly as he arose, having barely slept for 30 minutes, as his senses alerted him to the presence of a beast approaching him.

He then returned his gaze to the sky, seeing that it was still afternoon. He  took everything he should retain (barrel, stones, feathers, etc.) and began digging for another trap for the beast.

-

The heavens certainly knew Carl was a fiend cultivator because it had a fight with him since his first life, but they had no idea his way was different. After all, it was just one paradise...

-

After constructing the trap and rigging it, he began digging beneath the expected area where the beast would next step in, and the beast would fall as a result.

The beast could be noticed by the Qi surrounding it, which was in the early stages of Qi refining, which meant that it received a thread of intelligence that enabled it to feel danger and nearby prey—meaning that it discovered him by the heavens bringing it to him.

He once more sighed helplessly, knowing that he couldn't combat such a beast head-to-head, but he might rely on devious ways in the meanwhile.

'Any manner to kill in combat, whether by such underhanded tactics to kill it or directly kill it, it'll all lead to the same conclusion—which is its death. So, no matter how a battle is, the only thing one should care about is the end of the battle, which should always be death.'

He then concentrated the majority of his energy, which, unbeknownst to him, was  a thousandth of a thread of the original death qi, as it surged recklessly into his hand, until he struck the one slot in which all people and creatures alike would die if hit by such a tremendous strike. It was the center of the chest—the heart.

Though they would die if the strength exceeded their own, as if Carl attempted to slay a beast in the peak Qi refinement realm, his strength would be insufficient.

*BOOM*

When his fist hit on the location of the beast's heart, it wailed in agony before collapsing hopelessly on top of the barrel.

Then Carl could clearly see the beast: it was 5 meters tall, had one tail and another that was expanding alongside its body, two horns, and a little horn that was still growing slowly.

Afterwards, he began chopping into it, but it took longer this time since the beast's flesh was tougher than he had initially thought.

-

The injury to his fist caused enormous shockwaves, which generated a little bit of the original death qi (one hundredth of a thread) around his fist and utilized it to kill the beast, since Carl couldn't kill the beast without it.

-

He eventually separated the flesh and blood, as well as the horns and tails, after hours of chopping.

He planned to sell them to a city after visiting one, so he began creating a massive backpack that could support the weight of the horns and tails.

Following that, he began taking both the beast's blood and flesh, causing his cultivation to skyrocket.

It suddenly came to an abrupt end, which perplexed him because he still had two tiny buckets full of both blood and flesh.

He suddenly remembered that in order to progress to the next world, he needed to sacrifice mortals. So he beamed, a broad grin on his face, 'Finally some action! I  never intended to rely on beasts to further my cultivation in the first place!'

He became enticed by the prospect of murdering mortals and devouring their bodies as nourishment for himself.

He then began to transport everything to a barren region in that mountain, where there was a cave behind a waterfall, the location of his original corpse.

He began to make the cave appear less and less visible.

Following that, he constructed little chambers in which he would cook his food, sleep, and bathe, a room with a circle around a slot, a deeper hole wherein blood could circulate, and a slightly higher floor in which flesh could be placed and consumed by him to further his cultivation.

This was his new home.... But first, he needed a teleportation array or artifact to either teleport him to the cave or create an array that could teleport him.

He sighed helplessly since it was still a long way off. He needed to be at least in the Nascent Soul realm before he could successfully build an array, and the artifact would be a supreme treasure for sects, clans, kingdoms, empires, and so on..

-

After putting everything in place, he exited the cave and returned to the direction of the town.

-

Carl could be seen exactly a hundred meters out from town a few hours later. He then began putting the stones and creating inscriptions with his own blood on them to make the array more effective.

He kept repeating the same procedure of laying stones, wounding himself slightly, and then smearing blood on top of the stone and sketching a few inscriptions.

Though every 4 hours he would stop as his body would have blood loss , but that also nourished his blood as it was constantly being exposed to Qi , which in turn his body turned to Devilish death qi and made his blood turn into a violet red color , slowly making his bloodline purer , while he was still unaware of it..

-

And just like that, a few days passed while Carl could be seen performing the same thing over and over, and while the stones he carved did indeed have inscriptions, they appeared to mortals who couldn't sense Qi to be nothing more than little ordinary pebbles. Even if cultivators emerged, it would be the same, because the inscriptions he drew could only be read by those of the same race as him.

That procedure made his bloodline as pure and thick as ever, making the final few stones have more power than the ones before them, albeit that didn't matter because what actually important was the inscriptions, not the blood's strength.

His blood was significantly denser and purer, making his bloodline the purest his race had ever had when he reached the blood refinement realm, making his body refinement realm easier because it just consisted of utilizing the blood, flesh, or devilish death qi converted from them to fully temper his body.

Though many members of his race attempted many various methods, they never accomplished such arrays since someone was usually assigned to do it for them, thus they never learned that manually placing on the stones would polish the bloodline even more.

He returned to his residence after finishing because it was too exhausting for him to remain up for a couple of days straight with his present mortal strength.

-

The heavens were perplexed by his behavior, however they didn't pay much attention because they were preoccupied with more urgent issues, and it only paid attention to Carl when it was free. But Carl and the heavens didn't even know that when the blood sacrifice occurs, nothing out of the norm will appear to the heavens. It was a procedure carried out by the founder of his race to make the cultivators' journeys a bit easier, which occurred when Carl received the inheritance through the inheritance...
