Chapter 15

We walked into the cafe and got to our usual seats. we were kind of regulars for this place and came here to hang out most of the time. We usually just talked. Drew was good at that. Letting me talk. He listened too and and took in every detail. That's why when we were together he was the best boyfriend any girl could want.

But I broke up with him. As my brother wished. After all, it was his last. I wish I could ask him why he wanted me to break up with him.

Did he know?

Again Drew's voice brought me back to the real world and I hadn't realized how much time has passed.

"Sam? Are you okay? Really."

I looked at Drew and forced a smile. "Of course."

"But when you were staring out of the window your expression held anger and sadness."

"When did you become so perceptive?"

I couldn't hold back some of the anger that flew out when I said that.

"I've known you for a very long time. It's just natural for me to see when things change."

His words hit me in a way. In that moment I remembered why I went out with him in the first place.

I sighed and messed with my straw. "You're right. Can't keep anything from you."

"You say that like its a bad thing."

"It can be sometimes. Just depends when."

I looked at him and saw as he looked a little pained at what I said. I soon wanted to take my words back but it was too late.

Drew brought out his phone and then outside the window. I looked out with him and saw that it was already dark out.

I stood up and looked at Drew.

"I got to go. Can you pay? I forgot my wallet."

He looked at me for a second and then finally smiled.

"Again? This is the last time you know. Next time I'll make you pay back."

"I was going to pay back anyway but if you insist that I don't..."

"Hey that's cheating!"

We laughed at his remark.

Good. Things were getting better. I wouldn't have to leave on a bad note.

When we stopped he gave me one of those heartfelt stares that rang "I love you" in my head. I felt my cheeks get warm and quickly put it aside. I promised my brother we would stay apart. He had a reason.

"Well I gotta go. See you at school?"

"You know it."

I smiled at him and then left walking out into the cool air. It was late March and yet it was cool out at night. But then again summer was still a couple months away.

Summer...

June...

It was almost here huh?

I looked up at the sky and saw the stars and was reminded of the night with Alex.

"He seems like he really cares. But I don't know all of him."

I didn't know all of any of the guys.

Without realizing it I heard Drew from behind me once again breaking my train of thought.

"We're you waiting for me?"

I turned around and smiled. "Sorry no, just admiring the night sky. I'll be going now."

I started walking off but Drew stopped me by grabbing my wrist.

"Wait. It's not right for me to let you walk home by yourself. Please, let me walk you home."

I was afraid of this. He was always overprotective in a way but I didn't want to be with him. I just wanted to be alone for a bit, to clear my head.

"No really I'm fine. I can walk home myself."

"But Sam-"

"Didn't she say she'd be fine?"

Both Drew and I turned our heads at the voice. The person was at first standing in the shadows covering all of their features. But the voice was kind of familiar to me. I couldn't place it to where though.

Then the figure moved into the light and I immediately realized who it was.

It was Drake.

The guy who supposedly just disappeared after our meeting now showed up. I couldn't tell if it was good or bad timing.

"And who are you?"
