Chapter 16

Day two went by surprisingly well. Bozzair didn't follow me, but I did find him eating a bird when I returned to my tree for lunch. It wasn't a pretty sight, but I have seen worse. As for the class, it was easy. I was expecting math class to be like t was in my old life, but this morning's lesson was easy. All we had to do was add and subtract low numbers. It wasn't hard, but some people still struggled with it. This shows how much more advanced my old world is in math and science compared to this world. I have no trouble believing my science lesson tomorrow will be just as easy.

"Danger,"

Bozzair is the first one to notice five girls surrounding us. He flies up to a tree branch, leaving me alone. Some guard he is. Daniella Allencourt is in the group's centre with her arms folded and a scroll on her face. Charlotte stands to her right, staring up at Bozzair, trying to lure him down with food. Rosalie looks like she isn't bothered about what is happening, but she still keeps a close eye on Bozzair and me. As for the other two, I don't know their names or recognise their faces. They must be in Daniella's class.

None of them seems happy as I look up at them. They are all frowning, apart from Charlotte, who is smiling at Bozzair as he eats out of her hand. I make a mental note to warn Bozzair about why it is wrong to accept food from people even he called dangerous. Just know he will tell me they are only dangerous to me, though. Daniella takes a step forward after taking a moment to scold Charlotte for forgetting about the real purpose they are here for. I have no idea what I had done to them. If this is about yesterday, then I have no idea why the other two girls are with the trio.

"You need to pick better friends," Daniella warns me. "It's no wonder you eat alone with the people you choose to get close to."

I just ignore her. Noah is studying and improving himself, Marshall is spending time with Arial, and Zeno is… well. Zeno is doing something other than flirting with me. I have no complaints about any of the reasons my friends have chosen to leave me alone at lunch, nor do I mind eating by myself. I have Bozzair with me, and there is nothing wrong with enjoying some peace and quiet by myself.

"Do you even care that you are not making any connections with other noble houses?" Daniella asks when I don't reply to her previous complaint.

Oh, I suppose I was meant to make connections as a noble, and I think my parents asked me to. Still, that seems like a hassle I would like to avoid. It's not like I need those connections anyway, considering I will become the kingdom's queen once I graduate.

"Are you even listening?" Daniella shakes her head at my silence. "Do you even realise you have been missing out on gaining allies by hiding here during the break?"

I don't really care about stuff like that. If anything, it is probably everyone else that has one. I am the daughter of one of the great noble houses, the future queen and someone who has achieved an S rank at the guild. I bet there are plenty of nobles who asked their children to get closer to me in hopes of increasing their family's power.

"Don't you have anything to say for yourself?" Daniella asks, stomping her foot on the ground, causing some flames to appear, but I quickly put them out with an air spell.

I doubt she even noticed the fire. In the game, Daniella would frequently lose control of her power when she was mad. There are plenty of CGs of her burning curtains or bushes when bullying the heroine. It should be fine here. With my control over air and earth magic, I can quickly snuff out any flame before it turns into a fire.

"Hey, are you ignoring me?" Daniella growls. "Here I am trying to give you some advice and being friendly, and you aren't even listening."

"I am," I tell her. "I just don't see the point in answering stupid questions. If I had a problem with anything you pointed out, I would have been socialising already."

"So I am an idiot. Is that what you think of me?" Wow, she is starting to smoke. even her friends take a step back, and Bozzair flies up high, seeing her. "And I have been nothing but kind to you…."

"Lady Allencourt, please calm down," Charlotte pleas, but Daniella ignores her.

"You… this isn't how it should have gone," Daniella trembles as her body glows hot and flames engulf her. "We should have been…."

I don't let her finish. I punch her in the gut knocking her out. The burns on my hand are nothing compared to what would have happened if I had let her use that spell. It's called Inferno Rage and is Daniella's trump card. In the game, she nearly kills the heroine with it after my character convinced Daniella that Ellis was the one who spread some nasty rumours about her. In reality, it was my character, and I would have watched things unfold from a distance, but this isn't just a game now. Daniella would have put her friends in mortal danger if she had used that spell.

"I'll be taking Lady Allencourt to the nurse's office," I tell the girls as I take Daniella into my arms.

None of the girls complained or offered to come with us. They just watch me leave with their friend in my arm. I should probably stop and treat my own burn wounds first, but that can wait. The pain is nothing compared to what I felt fighting Bozzair.

"You shouldn't show mercy to an enemy," Bozzair scolds me as he flies by my side.

"She's not an enemy," I tell him.

Embarrassingly I nearly got lost on my way to the nurse's office, but luckily I ran into miss Erlis who showed me the way. I lied slightly, calming we were injured after Daniella accidentally lost control of her powers. It won't get Daniella out of trouble, but she deserved to be punished after putting us all in danger back there. Miss Erlis thankfully didn't question my story, but her expression was hard to read, so I have no idea if I got away with my lie. But I soon stopped worrying about that when we arrived at the nurse's office. It is bigger than remember.

There are two wings with twenty beds each, four examination rooms, and eight rooms to quarantine people who need it. I don't know why they call it a nurses office when it could easily qualify as a small hospital. Miss Erlis tells me to put Daniella in one of the beds while she goes and tells one of the nurses what happened. But surprisingly, we are not the only ones in the nurse's office.

"Sister,"

"Lady Lamonia,"

Noah stands with Ellis as soon as we enter the room. Oh, I forgot about this event. Ellis was forced by her teacher to make a delivery to the library. While she is there, Noah would fall from a ladder breaking one of his fingers, and Ellis would heal him. In-game, this would be the first time Noah saw healing magic and would want to go to the nurse's office and have someone look at his hand. I'm surprised Noah still wanted a second opinion when he has seen me use heal magic a few times by now. I suppose it must be fate that I am here is well. If things had played out as they had in the game, I would arrive, break Ellis and Noah apart and scold Noah for talking with a lesser.

"Noah, lady Lockridge. Are one of you hurt?" I ask, pretending I don't know what happened as I put Daniella down in one of the free beds.

"No, we're fine," Noah smiles. "I did have an accident in the library, but lady Lockridge treated it for me. I told her I was fine, but lady Lockridge insisted I have the nurse look at my hand."

"Thank you for treating my brother, lady Lockridge," I smile, approaching them.

"It was nothing," Ellis replies, blushing slightly.

I hope I didn't interrupt anything. Out of Noah and Zeno's route, I hope Ellis goes down my brother's route, so I should probably be leaving as soon as I have spoken to the nurse.

"I need to go and tell the nurse what happened," I tell them, turning to leave, but someone grabs my arm.

"Wait, lady Lamonia," Supsringly, Ellis stops me from going. "Your hand is badly burned. Let me heal it for you."

It's not that bad… well, not that bad for me. When I was learning how to fight and just starting my adventure career, I was burned, cut, stabbed and broke multiple bones. Pain is nothing new to me. But I can see why it will worry other people. My right arm is red from the tips of my fingers to the bottom of my elbow, and angry blisters cover my hand. I would have had a nasty scar back in my old world, but here in a world of magic, it can be healed in seconds.

I give in and allow Ellis to heal my hand. She guilds me over to a free bed and casts a healing spell on my burn. It is slower than how I usually heal but flasher as Ellis glows brightly. It takes over a minute, but there is no trace of my burn even being there when she is done. Ellis smiles at her work, and I thank her before the nurse returns. I have to retell my lie before they let me leave. Unfortunately for me, it is time for the afternoon lessons by the time I have finished. At least I managed to eat lunch before all this started.

"Everyone spite into the same groups as yesterday!" Sara orders as soon as she arrives. Today is our first real practical lesson. We quickly fall in place. "Today, you will be reviewing the basics in pairs. I will give a demonstration with the lucky winner of yesterday's endurance test. Congratulations, dragon slayer. Your special reward for winning is a chance to show off your skills in front of the class."

I gulp and wish I had lost the test. Sara is really saying that I will be her punching bag for the lesson. I hope I don't end up like the two unlucky guys enough to have this honour in the game. You didn't mishear me. I said two guys. Sara was relentless with them, and the first guy collapsed halfway through, so Sara ordered the boy who came in second place to take his place.

"We are going in the same order as yesterday," Sara throughs a wooden sword at me before she attacks.

Sara is going to be the death of me. Somehow I made it through the demonstration and even the lesson, but I can no longer stand. My maid tells me my bath is ready, but I need her help to get into the tub today. I hope Sara doesn't make all her lessons as hard as the last two.

What is going on? Angelina is supposed to be the villainess, so why am I the one in trouble? All Angelina had to do was bully the villainess with us, but instead, she helped her escape and even fed her. This isn't how things are meant to go. Angelina is meant to be executed, and my family will inherit her wealth family's wealth. But something is wrong with her. Still, not all is lost yet. If Angelina doesn't fulfil her role willingly, I will force her hand.

"Rosalie," I turn to the only friend I have that is paying attention. Charlotte is more interested in watching that stupid dragon to pay us any attention. "I need that brilliant mind of yours to help me out."
